Sōgo Roll Bar

We had a great little date night out in the patio. Quentin served us and was an absolute sweetheart. The sashimi was our favorite, both salmon and albacore. They had a nice beer and saki selection. We enjoyed the ambiance and the short walk from the children's hospital. We will be back for sure!

My partner and I visited Sōgo Roll Bar this past weekend. We loveee all things sushi and hand rolls and we were excited to try this cute East Hollywood bar. We really enjoyed the spicy tuna crispy rice with a great amount of tuna and the albacore with a lot of crispy onions -- our favorite! As for hand rolls, we ordered yellowtail, toro, spicy tuna, and salmon. The salmon roll was amazing with a citrus sauce. As for the other rolls, we wish they had sauces as well or more of them. We were missing some flavor. The spot is very cute, but we do wish the music was a little louder because the atmosphere was quite awkward. We also would have appreciated a quick rundown of the menu. When we mentioned it was our first time, the staff member said okay and walked away. The ambiance was a little off, but we do think this spot has great potential!

I came here for an anniversary dinner and left wishing there was more to this place. I made a reservation through Resy and marked that it was me and my girlfriend's anniversary. I never expect anything from marking these options, but, saying Happy Anniversary would have been considerate. Because why have the option to mark it at all. After being greeted by the host, we were swiftly seated. They have an indoor and outdoor seating arrangement. The indoor ambiance felt homey and warm, however, the lighting felt off. It was bright, yet dim. The host/server was nice and friendly.Onto the food. I got the 6 set and the spicy tuna crispy rice. During the duration of our meal, it felt very rushed. Maybe because it was not busy, but I was trying to have a conversation and the handrolls just kept coming out one after the other. After finishing a handroll, another one already appeared on the table. The nori was not very fresh and chewy. The fish itself was flavorful. I loved how they topped the fish when they wrapped it. And the catcher for the fillings that fall out. The entire meal itself is good, but nothing special.

Food is very fresh in taste. There are a few reviews I read about the employees being rude, and I also experienced that during my visit. Sit at the bar for a more intimate setting. I ordered the 6 roll and I was really full by roll 5. The food is good but the only staff members working and not gossiping are the ones preparing the rolls. You can also order to-go so you can bypass that part of the experience.*Highly Recommend*Yellowtail RollScallop RollI probably wouldn't order 2 specific rolls again.Lobster roll- 4/10 Very mayo heavy to the point I couldn't taste any lobster. The lobster is shredded so fine, you're better off ordering the crab roll.Albacore Kari Kari- 3/10 The albacore is cut into big chunks for this roll. The chunks were cut more for a poke bowl. It's a bit overwhelming as the fish taste was very strong. This experience could be better with a more pleasant staff. Some retraining needs to be done here. Staff should keep it professional and not gossip about customers especially while they are present.

The manager Danny kindly invited me back to Sogo and I had a really great corrective dining experience. I ordered the spicy tuna crispy rice to start. They've got a kick which I love. I then ordered the 5 roll handset and subbed out the snapper for albacore. Everything tasted fresh and delicious, including fresh nori this time! My favorites were the yellowtail and salmon. Salmon being my top favorite, it tasted the freshest and pairs really nicely with the yuzu. Must have just been an off time with the nori when I came here the last time! Thank you!

I've been here once before and really enjoyed it but came back today to try the hand rolls! The inside is very cute, I love a low dim restaurant. this spot is super busy but the service is great. My friend and I both were impressed with how fresh the food tasted. we for 5 rolls and left super full! would recommend and come back here!

I came here for lunch during the week- it wasn't busy at the time so it was quiet. They have indoor bar seating and outdoor patio seating that is pet friendly. I like how crispy their crispy rice dishes are and love that they have variety on the topping (spicy tuna/baked crab). I ordered a 6 roll set which is a great way to try different rolls and was perfectly filling for myself. Parking- street parking

Decent hand roll bar! I like this place better than kazunori because the portions are good and the fish is fresh. My boyfriend and I each got the 6 hand roll set so we can try some of everything. We also ordered the unagi crispy rice with avocado puree on top, which was super unique. We loved how the crispy rice was super crispy on the outside and came out still piping hot so you know the rice is freshly fried. The only roll we didn't really like was the snapper...it didn't taste too fresh to me. Service was really nice but I'm not sure if I would come back too often just because parking is super hard to find. We probably circled around like 2-3 times before finally finding parking in the residential area.

Came here for lunch on a Saturday a bit after noon and it was quite empty. They have a pretty standard seating arrangement. Instead of getting a roll set, I decided to order a la carte since these sets usually come with things I don't really want. These rolls were solid and fairly priced at most $10 a roll! My favorite was the crab roll.

Came by for some lunch and got the 3 roll set menu and the snapper sashimi with yuzu. They were super tasty and really fresh. Service was great and the ambiance was nice and relaxing.
