I visited this restaurant for dineLA, and it truly did not disappoint! The portions were generous, and I appreciated that not everyone at the table was required to order from the dineLA menu.Even with what seemed to be a staffing shortage, possibly due to the LA fires, our server remained attentive and ensured all tables received excellent service. **The cocktails, just like the food, were absolutely delicious and complemented the comfort food experience perfectly.I am definitely planning to return, and I will be adding this spot as a regular option for home delivery. Just a heads up--parking can be a bit challenging, so I highly recommend using a rideshare or carpooling.

First time here. We did Dine LA. I hope this was an off day, because the food was good. But geez... we had a 5:30pm reservation. It felt more like we were nearing closing-time at a grungey bar, not a sit down date night spot. The bad:1. Bathrooms: Literally piss everywhere on the floor, and on the toilet seat in both bathrooms. Broken soap dispensers, and poor signage indicating where the bathrooms even were. At least there were seat covers, soap, and the doors locked. I'd rather risk a gas station in DTLA than go in there again.2. Drinks: Drinks order was slow, received almost halfway through the meal, after I had to ask for it a second time. Wine portions seemed small, but hard to tell with the oversized glasses. Frug Orange wine, admittedly I've never tasted orange wine before (so maybe it's not for me). But tasted possibly like an old bottle from the previous day.3. Parking: Horrendous. Sandwiched between the freeway, dense residential housing, and restrictive 1 hr street parking limits, I'm not sure how we would have eaten here if it hadn't been for the valet. We would have otherwise left. The good:1. Food was tasty. Like a mix between Thai and Indian. Portions were generous. Prices seemed a little high, but isn't everything nowadays?2. Their signature drink is really fascinating. Tastes like a toasted caramel tea.3. Huge kudos for having vegan and non vegan options. We're a mixed couple with very different food restrictions, so always nice to go places where neither one of us is compromising for the other.4. We might have lucked out from some kind of special event, but there was free valet parking. I'm upping this from 3 stars to 4, just because of the valet. Recommendation: Do the valet ALL the time if that's not a regular thing.Would we go again? Probably not, we're 45 minutes away. Maybe some of our issues stem from not being locals. Not very welcoming from our perspective if you have to live in the area to "get" this place. But thanks for an interesting evening

The best Indonesian food in town! I've been coming here for years and have always discovered a new dish that I like each time. Today I ordered Kwetiaw Goreng which is a wok fried wide rice noodle. It was fried with bean sprouts and a few green leafy veggies. Chicken or vegetarian option included in the price. The dish was amazing. Smokey wok flavor and the noodles were a bit on the sweet side. Delicious!Service was amazing. Servers are friendly and quick. Be sure to get a reservation, as this place gets busy!Note: the restaurant has renovated and now has outside dining. They no longer have their grocery store.

We've been to Simpang a few times and the staff are always warm and welcoming! Compared to homemade Indonesian food, I felt like the flavor profiles were on point but not as strong as they could be. With that said, I still feel like their dishes are all still very good! The lemper (pandan coconut sticky rice with a chicken filling is one of the better ones I've had and think it would be a great savory-mildly sweet snack togo. We got the lontong and nasi goreng jagger this time. Felt like the lontong could have been more salty/flavorful but still delicious. The nasi goreng jagger is addicting! My spice tolerance is above average, but this was really spicy. There was chili oil and chopped Birds Eye chili in each bite. I personally love the challenge and felt like the lontong on top of it accentuated the flavors. However, I would say this dish was spicier than the mild at yuppdduk or buldak fire noodles so it might not be enjoyable for some. I ordered a cendol to help with the heat and the serving size could easily be 2-3 portions. Highly recommend giving this place a try, especially if you've never had Indonesian food!

The first time I ate here was many years ago when the restaurant was a really casual place attached to a market. The place has transformed quite a bit over the years and has a fancier setup now.I like how the restaurant serves dishes that I can't easily find elsewhere in the area. Everything I've tried tastes delicious, but my favorite so far has been the Nasi Bungkus.Service was good when I dined in. Our waiter checked on us often enough, and the food came out quickly.Parking in the lot is easy, but can also be a bit tough to find when it's busy. Street parking is always available within a block or two away.

We walked in on a weekday night and were seated right away. Love the interior of this place. The plants add so much life. I wanted virgin mojito but their bar can't do virgin drinks. The Thai tea was a good substitute though. The portion is really big and can definitely be shared family style.Food is goo and flavorful. Would've love it if more if the fish were salted.

I was absolutely delighted by my Soy Glazed Salmon entree at this intimate but stellar spot--and in a surprisingly unsuspecting plaza of all places. Every component of my meal was cooked perfectly and the staff could not have been friendlier. The vibe here is perfect for a dinner out with friends, date night, or showing out-of-owners the best of international cuisine L.A. has to offer!

Indonesian food is rare enough I was excited to get some at all, but way delighted to find the food EXCELLENT. Everything is so flavorful, has great texture and technique. I did the dine LA tasting menu, so hot to try the paranthas (so light!), the Nasi Goreng (awesome--captured the unique Indonesian sauces and flavors, not just generic Asian fried rice), and the Penang (great texture!!). Service was slow cuz they had seemingly one waiter for the whole restaurant, which also meant a bit of a wait, but totally worth it. Recommended!!
