Shame on us for stupidly partaking in dim sum or yum cha at this popular and former Michelin-star-awarded Chinese restaurant on Saturday, a typical Chinese Family Day, without making reservations! Our December vacation was quickly ending , and after stuffing ourselves with Taiwanese, Mexican, Spanish, Italian, Thai, Vietnamese, and modern Chinese cuisine, my husband and brother-in-law, who can eat Chinese food seven days a week, convinced me to agree to have dim sum or yum cha at Sea Harbour Seafood Restaurant. Admittedly, I've had Sea Harbour restaurant bookmarked for several years and it didn't take much to "twist my arm" into agreement. I mapped our course and found that it would take us less than half an hour to travel 26 miles.Upon approaching Sea Harbour Seafood Restaurant, we noticed the outdoor walkway lined with people, but we still turned into the crowded parking lot, even though we suggested going elsewhere. However, we lucked out and got into a parking stall that someone had just vacated. We made our way to the restaurant's entrance. We felt like we walked through a gauntlet of hungry and patient customers before reaching the receptionist desk, where we checked in on the waitlist at 11:15 AM.The huge restaurant, with a capacity of nearly 300, looked like it was completely filled, and the staff expertly weaved and bobbed their way through the crowd, taking and delivering food and beverage orders. After waiting 30 minutes, we noticed there didn't seem to be much movement in the wait list even though several tables cleared. I noticed that I could have downloaded their reservation app but found that there wasn't anything available until 1:30 PM. We still maintained our positive outlook as we did see several parties who had checked in before us get seated. We liked their seating wait list and reservation process as we patiently watched the digital display while a female worker called out the wait list numbers by group size and check-in time. We waited slightly over two hours before our number was called, but we felt pity for the groups that had checked in after us.As soon as we were seated, our server, Gina spoke Cantonese, introduced herself, and asked us for a tea selection. I replied with our tea choice (heung pin or jasmine) and asked for glasses of iced water and Tsingtao beers for our group of three. She gave us the order sheet and pictorial menus and scurried to a workstation with our teapot, cups, and glasses of iced water. The menu featured famliar steamed, baked, pan-fried and deep fried dim sum dishes. We would typically order the "four Heavenly kings of dim sum," which are siu mai 燒賣, char siu bao 叉燒包, har gow 蝦餃, and daan tot 蛋撻. However, even though the menu and food photos distracted us, we still got them but enhanced by Sea Harbour restaurant.FOOD:- Jelly Fish Salad with Spicy Sauce -Deep Fried Smelt in Spicy Salt-Sticky Rice with Preserved Meats -Poached Chinese Broccoli with Oyster Sauce -Bean Curd Skin Roll with Seafood in Abalone Sauce -Shrimp Dumplings (har gow) -Pork & Shrimp Dumplings with Truffle Sauce -Ginger Chicken & Pork Bun-Deep Fried Pork Sticky Rice Puff-Assorted Seafood Fried Crispy NoodleOur food and beverage bill came up to nearly $150 with tax and tip but the flavors, varieties, and amount of food that we ordered were well worth the nearly two hour wait. Gina made us feel welcomed and was very attentive without being intrusive. She provided us with service that we're not usually accustomed to at Chinese restaurants in Honolulu, elsewhere on the Mainland, or abroad. We'd gladly return to Sea Harbour Seafood Restaurant, but when we do, I'll make dining reservations.

A Second Chance After 16+ Years - Worth It?It's been over 16 years since my last visit here, and let's just say my first impression wasn't great. But hey, places evolve, so I decided to give it another shot. Here's how it went:Food: Salt & Pepper Chicken Knuckles - Super crunchy, but where's the salt and pepper flavor? A bit underwhelming. Siu Mai - Not a huge truffle fan, but the truffle was subtle enough. The siu mai itself? Juicy and flavorful! Har Gow - Would've been a solid classic, but...truffle? Somehow, the truffle flavor was stronger than in the siu mai, which was unexpected. If you've been to Chef Tony, you might notice the same issue.Service:Surprisingly polite and attentive--a refreshing change from the typical dim sum hustle. Multiple staff members were on the move, but they never came off as rushed or dismissive.Environment: Plenty of parking, but getting here can be a hassle, especially if you're heading north on Rosemead Blvd. Modern decor--not super fancy, but definitely clean and up-to-date.Price: On the pricier side, especially with so many dim sum options nearby. Worth it? That depends on what you're looking for.Final Verdict? It's an improvement from my first visits years ago, but with the price and truffle confusion, I'm still on the fence. Would I come back? Maybe... but with so many choices in the area, I'd likely explore a few more spots first.Food: 2Service: 4Environment: 3Price: 2

Great food They made their own dim sum with delicacy unlike those quick and frozen ones. The quality is still good standard overall, very authentic Cantonese Style.Quick service Despite business, the food comes out very quickly and service is excellent.

It's as good as they say.First of all, can we talk about the interior of this restaurant? It is niceeeeee. Fitting for a wedding.Second of all, at 10:30 in the morning, you're not seeing any non-Chinese people here. In fact, the two grandmas next to us brought their own tea mugs because obviously that's the move for some serious dim sum.The dim sum at Sea Harbour is elite. Take for example the pork & shrimp dumpling with truffle sauce ($7.38). It is not only beautiful in presentation, but stupidly good. Who would have thought truffle sauce belonged on a shiu mai? The truffle sauce really enhances the mushroom taste to counterbalance the pork. Whatta combo.Other things we ordered and deeply enjoyed include:-shrimp dumpling ($7.38)-spare ribs in black bean sauce ($6.38)-deep fried pork dumpling ($6.38)-deep fried shrimp spring roll ($7.38)-egg tofu with abalone sauceHonestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Order all your favorites. If you love LA and dim sum, Sea Harbour is worth the trek.

It's been a while since I last visited, and I would recommend this place for 10 AM dimsum to anyone looking to decide between 5 Star Seafood Restaurant and Sea Harbour simply because the texture, taste and presentation here is a couple of levels higher than the other place. The dining area is also much more cleaner from the tea cups to plates to flooring, over ambulance is much more alluring along with the wait staff's uniforms, you just feel you're at the right place. Food was excellent and staff was attentive; we ordered a ton of food, and when the two of us left, for a smoke break, they were so attentive they put a reservation marker on our table to let the packed restaurant know we were coming back. Just little nuances make this a pleasurable place to patronize.

We had a big family dinner here just recently in a separate private VIP room. We weren't here during the Dim Sum hours, but were here during the lunch and dinner time which had a different menu and selection of food. The Chinese dishes were prepared with quality. The presentation for each dish was beautiful and creative. Keep in mind, this Chinese restaurant is mainly known for their seafood, especially lobster and crab. It's pretty bomb. We ordered the Geoduck clam and it was probably my favorite. You would eat it sashimi style. It has a nice calamari texture and it tastes refreshing but has a little salty cucumber flavor. It's apparently very popular in Seattle. My other favorite dish was the crab legs. The meat was moist and sweet. Probably ate like 9 of them.Service was good and fast. They took good care of us and always replacing old filled plates with new clean ones. Overall, I'll come back again just to try their Dim Sum.

On the more expensive side of din sum, but food is fresh. Order beef chow fun and it was flavorful. We like to get it with sauce compared to dry. Also got din sum with noodle wrapped bitter melon with beef, which was really good. That is a unique dish that you don't find at other dinsums. Fried tofu was just okay. Truffle shu mai was great! Wish we could have tried seafood while we were there. Overall nice place and always crowded. Parking is easy. Would go back again and take a date.

We had reservations for my father's birthday and the restaurant made it very special for him. We were a party of 13 and received the most generous service. They were kind and happy to help with anything. The steak and mushroom was my favorite dish. It was savory and seasoned well. We also had salted fish fried rice and beef chow fun that did not make it into the photos but were good too! Seafood was very fresh, they even brought it to the table to make sure these are the items we would like for dinner before. The only down side about our dinner was that it took a very long time for each dish to come out. Our reservation was at 5:30pm and we didn't leave until almost 8:30/9pm. Dessert was delicious, along with our egg custard buns and sponge cake, there is complimentary black bean dessert.

Very solid dim sum spot! The restaurant opens at 10am on the weekends and there's already a line out the door before they even open so come early! If you are looking for unique dim sum items, this is the spot! For example, they have chicken and bitter melon rice rolls in additional to the traditional ones such as shrimp rice rolls. The star of the show for us was the durian pastry - very crispy on the outside and amazing durian flavor on the inside! They also have a fairly wide selection of desserts including egg tarts. There is a separate window by the front entrance if you just want to grab BBQ items to go. There is a parking lot at the back of the restaurant but it might get packed - there are also street parking available.
