We're always happy when we go to Salazar. Beautiful outdoor space, interesting menu, friendly service, and pretty good (but not great) cocktail menu. The food can be a bit hit and miss but there is enough good stuff to overcome the bad (the guac is particularly delicious but their quesadillas have way too much cheese).Make sure to get reservations since they're frequently booked up.

I've never felt so sad to write a review as I am right now.For the record: I love frog town: the area. And was very excited to go to this restaurant - been wanting to go since they opened but never found myself in the area. But tonight, with friends in from out of town staying in the area, I was overjoyed to learn that we were going here!... now there is a lot of amazing: the don't touch the cat sign, ( the cat giving stink eye as you attempt to pet it..) the comfort of being outside, the service was great, bathrooms clean... Ordered a couple of margarita's... they're ok... it seems like they build them upside down: Becasue the citrus was at the top and the agave at the bottom. So: not shaken. Ordered a Cadillac for a second drink and confirmed that they build their drinks upside down. Because you could clearly see the grand marnier on the bottom. And again. Not shaken. So the beverage program was concerning: also the size of glassware... seems smaller than an average 10 oz glass. But again: This is their restaurant. Not mine. They want to present things upside down... so be it.When it came to food, starting with the chips and guacamole. Standard. Nothing stood out. Fresh . Clean.. black salsa doesn't have much heat but is nice...And then I made the biggest mistake ordering.I ordered a quesadilla with Al pastor ... and I will never return .Why?It's honey baked ham.I've never been so disgusted with a flavor profile for a quesadilla. You could almost see the waiter screaming inside "nooooooooo!" As I ordered. They went blank as I ordered. And I wish they would have said something.Look: maybe this place isn't for me: Maybe people like 8oz margaritas made upside down for 15.00? Maybe people like honey baked ham in their quesadillas .I like a slow roasted pork, say 30 hours, and gently pulled apart... But again...That's what I would expect at a Mexican influenced restaurant. Some authenticity. But I got the idea... and as excited as I was, I am glad to know there's one place less for me to go to dine in LA.

This place was a disappointment. We went in January for my wife's birthday. We were seated outside sort of near a heater but it was still rather dark and cold. Not pitch black dark but the lighting was a bit too sparse. I ordered a steak that was overcooked and just fair at best. My wife ordered chicken that was dry and not particularly cheap. Blah. My kid said his tacos were too salty and not very good. As longtime Angelenos we know authentic Mexican food. This wasn't it. We had looked forward to coming's here as there had been a little bit of hype surrounding Salazar. But, it was Just kinda sad, and the service was quite lax. All in all, a disappointing meal. We won't be back. ¡Que lastima! Do better.

First time visiting Salazar and the food was great! We made a reservation for a party of 7 for a surprise baby shower and service did not disappoint. They accommodated us by giving us a huge table to decorate with flowers and gifts. We played a few games which was nice of them to let us just do our thing. Now for the good stuff!Food: asada fries - these were delicious. The asada was well seasoned and cooked. Chips & guacamole were great! Had the right amount of lime! I ordered the red sauce chilaquiles. These had just the right amount of spicy ness. The girls all had different types of tacos and claimed to be very good so I will need to come back and try them. Drinks: I requested a spicy margarita with tajin rim. So damn good and perfect ratio of tequila and other ingredients. Love when I can taste the alcohol and the other ingredients. Overall this place is great for small groups and big groups. The only bad part is the parking. If you come at a busy time the parking can be frustrating.

Service was good. Location and atmosphere was nice but the food was meh. Probably the best part of the meal was the chips and salsa. Other than that, the carne asada burrito was dry and needed sauce on it, the kale on the veggie taco just didn't taste good and the al pastor taco wasn't great. I enjoyed the zucchini taco but that's about it.

My friend and I came here after shopping at The Left Bank across the street. We didn't have any reservations on Saturday but was able to get seating outdoors, and it was such a cute open spot. My friend had dined here before and raved that their tacos were substantial, so I took her word and ordered 2 tacos (al pastor and carne asada) with a watermelon margarita plus guac + chips to share. She got more or less the same except a margarita flight, to which she was able to swap out the ginger with a prickly pear. All was very delish and filling. By the end of the meal, I was STUFFED. Service was wonderful. I think I'd like to have more toppings to go with the tacos, such as radish, shredded lettuce, lime, and shredded cheese as an option. Seems kinda plain if we didn't already order the guac. Otherwise, it's pretty good for the price!

Came back to this place as I was raving to my friends. Unfortunately the table that we sat was not cleaned properly and dirtied my friends dress and shirt.

Run don't walk back to Salazar. It's back to being delicious with their classics and superb drinks. I had the Paloma, guacamole and chips and a new fish taco battered with chipotle mayo and pico di gallo. Felipe and Emily super personable and attentive. Can't wait to return for more of the menu. Welcome back Salazar.

Came to Salazar for the first time a couple of weeks ago and had a nice experience! This is outdoor dining so come prepared as it was a bit chilly on our visit but after we requested the space heaters, it got toastier. I ordered a mezcal negroni which was nicely prepared. We also started with an order of salsa, guacamole, and esquites. Great, tasty, dip-able starters. The esquites were particularly addictive, thanks to the cotija cheese and tajin.I ordered two pescado tacos, which came with slaw and chipotle mayo. No complaints here! The fish was crispy and the accoutrements were all flavorful. Not the most memorable taco I've ever had in my life but I definitely enjoyed them and would order again.Overall, it was a nice meal. Service was friendly, drinks were solid, and the food was tasty. I would definitely come back to try more of the menu.

I knew about Salazar for years, never had the chance to try. I booked a reservation via Resy, the only way to reserve tables here! We came after an event in the area. They have only outdoor seating, a beautiful, big patio, decorated nicely with cacti-s and string lights! Very enjoyable!Water from the house. Their guac is nice and creamy, very fresh, the chips are good, salsa on the spicy side, might not be for everyone.I tried their prickly pear margarita, a nice, fresh, drink looking so pretty! We had an asada kinda of night, our party shared their asada fries, big portion, quesadilla and street taco-s, all asada, all good. Ok prices, in the middle, nice service, didn't feel rushed. Enjoyed the food and their cool outodoor decor, stayed till 10pm, closing time!
