The Arabic breakfast is soooooo yummmmmmy! If you love a savory breakfast then you will love this dish. Everything was packed with so much flavor and the thick challah was perfect for dipping into the shakshuka. The salad was refreshing and the clotted cream with honey satisfied my sweet tooth. It felt like a very balanced breakfast that is shareable with someone if you get another small item. Service was quick, we sat outdoors and there was a lot of seating!

I'm still thinking about that pita sandwich that led me to Saffy's Coffee & Tea recently which is next door to the mothership, Saffy's. Smokey, fatty beef and lamb brisket chopped up inside a pita with tahini, zhoug and amba is much deliciousness in my tummy. Like anything from the Saffy/Bavel/Bestia restaurant group, it's tasty but pricey. At $21, you figure you'd get a bit more but that's just how they work leaving you to want to order another for an arm and leg. But overall, very good pita sandwich. On another occasion, when this brunch spot first opened up, we took a challah bread ($16) and some whole wheat chocolate cookies with red walnuts ($4) to go. Pretty good but like I mentioned, you'll exchange your arm and leg for small portions. There's open seating at their covered sidewalk patio. It's self serve here. So you'll have to grab your own utensils and napkins. They cool thing is that they have sparkling water on tap. Service here could use some improvement. I noticed the tables had sauce stains and crumbs and weren't cleaned off.

This is easily my favorite brunch spot in LA--I've been here so many times I've lost count. You order at the counter, get a number, and then grab a seat outside on their patio while your food is brought out when it's ready. My go-to dishes are the Arabic Breakfast ($24), Challah French Toast ($15), and the Beef & Lamb Brisket Pita Sandwich ($19).The Arabic Breakfast comes with shakshuka, chopped salad, marinated olives, clotted cream with wildflower honey, and challah. If I'm in the mood for something sweet, the French toast is amazing, but lately, I've been all about the pita sandwich. I'll even say it--it's the best sandwich in LA.And if you haven't been to Saffy's for dinner yet, it's an absolute must!

I was craving for shakshuka for a while so I did some research to find one of the best shakshukas in LA. I finally chose Saffy's Coffee & Tea and it didn't disappoint! OMFG Arabic breakfast was to die for. Each dish was flavorful and spectacular. Salad was extremely refreshing. Poached eggs on shakshuka were perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Clotted cream with honey was scrumptious and went very well with challah bread. Finished my meal with potato curry bourekas and portuguese custard tart was perfect ending for my brunch. Only downside was parking since I had to drive around the place for 15-20 minutes to find a parking spot. Forgot to mention about cappuccino and matcha tea here! Both were great as well :)

One item that has continually remained on my mind since my visit to Saffy's is their challah bread. The bread thought even triumphs over my personal trauma and that says a lot as an adult with innate emo tendencies. The perfect conduit to the challah is their delicious and flavorful shashukha in a great breakfast portion size as well as their honey butter that is part of their equally tasty and wide variety of their Arabic breakfast.Suffice to say, go brave the East Hollywood parking situation (I found a lovely spot right behind the infamous blue Scientology building) and do anything to try their fluffy challah. The Spritz was also light and a good way to start your breakfast per my personal recommendation.

Saffy's is the sister restaurant to Arts District stalwarts Bavel and Bestia. Like Bavel, it serves Middle Eastern cuisine and has a wood-burning oven. Coffee and Tea is their adjacent coffee spot which opens daily at 8 am and serves breakfast/brunch from 9 am Wed-Sun. Finding parking was relatively easy on a weekday morning, but surely would be much more difficult in the evenings and all-day on weekends. This is a residential area filled with apartment buildings. Saffy's building is beautiful and retro.Saffy's offers 5 breakfast items and 4 lunch items, plus a few pastries (sweet and savory) and breads. It's a fast-casual place where you order and pay at the counter and your food is brought to your table. All seating is in their outdoor patio, with a few high-top chairs inside. I went with their most substantial breakfast item, the Arabic Breakfast, which includes their shakshuka, chopped salad, marinated olives, clotted cream with honey, and challah bread. I also ordered a herb lemonade and a boysenberry cheese danish. Everything was delish. The hot dishes are prepared in the restaurant's kitchen, and you are allowed to use the restrooms in the restaurant.

I hesitate to write this review since Saffy's Coffee has taken over as my go-to morning special treat coffee shop, but I feel I owe it to them given how great it is. Only a matter of time before some "hidden gems of Hollywood" article on Eater turns this quiet place into a madhouse with lines like Maru. The coffee is one of the best in the city. Right up there with Laidrey and Proof. As a bonus, they serve original pastry items, including my favorite, the potato curry boureks. This item stays true to their original business, the Mediterranean restaurant next door. It is a weird breakfast item, even for this Riyadh-born Armenian, and it is uniquely delicious. My once weekly visits are clearly contributing to the annual holidays weight gain but it's worth it.

i'm a huge fan of bavel so i knew saffy's wasn't going to disappoint and it didn't, we licked our plates clean!love the casual vibe of the breakfast/brunch/lunch for ordering sit down. saffy's coffee & tea is limited to outdoor seating and a few indoor high top counter seating but the outdoor patio is lovely and there are plenty of tables for your choosing. their indoor dining is limited to dinner service only.we got the arabic breakfast, chicken pita, salmon tartine and 2 drinks to share for 2. the iced latte was probably the weakest link, a little too milky and not as strong as we'd like but the saffron lemonade was a hit.my husband wouldn't stop talking about the toasted challah with clotted cream and honey. neighborhood street parking available so get those parallel parking skills ready!

Everything we had here was bomb. O.O those were our eyes when we bit into each item: the Swedish cardamom roll, the beef & lamb brisket pita sandwich (omg, this sandwich w/ the house pickles!!), and then the extra ordered chicken pita sandwich since my friend & I realized the first 2 wouldn't be enough to satisfy our cravings. The chicken pita sandwich was tasty, but the beef & lamb brisket one still beat it out by flavor (albeit def on the saltier side). I ordered the earl grey latte since I read a review about the winter melon sugar that's mixed into the pre-made drink that Saffy's makes in house, and I liked it! My friend and I were mainly wanting a nice place to do work that had good coffee, and this place hit the spot for so many other reasons too, including the really nice covered patio area (surrounded by plants, so you get that secluded feeling while also getting to enjoy the sun streaming through) w/ the sizable tables and the self-serve still/sparkling water tap. Service was also excellent -- both in how they took care of us when bringing the food (didn't realize the pickles were just for the lamb/beef pita and not the chicken one, but the server kindly gave us some for the chicken one too) and how they left us alone afterwards. :P

Sasto Foccacia Sandwich ($18) - sopressata, mortadella, coppa, house made ricotta, fermented chilis, lettuce, tomato, onion, oregano vinaigrette Beef Lamb Pita ($19) - tahini, zhoug, ombaI stumbled across this place when I was looking for a restroom to use at Nam Coffee & was surprised by how cute the interior was, so I'm happy I got to try this place out! Parking was a little difficult especially since I went on a day that there was street sweeping. The service was extremely fast & they bring out your food to your table. The Sasto is their signature sando!! Although I found it to be slightly oversaturated in the vinaigrette, the flavors made up for it!! There was just enough veggies to make up for how heavy the rest of the sando was, but I wish they wrapped it in parchment paper to make it easier to eat :/ I'd def go back again to try the restaurant next door!
