My friend and I have been wanting to try Ethiopian food for a while. So when deciding on where to eat before going to a show at the Pantages, we knew this would be a great opportunity as it was on the way. So glad we did! You walk into the place and the decor transports you out of Fairfax. Faux straw roofs cover some of the tables. Like you'd find in an outdoor patio. We order the fried plantains and "The Emperor" sampler platter. The fried plantains were indeed "grilled to perfection". Just enough to have edges with a little crisp and centers that were cooked and carmelized. The Emperor was billed as "great for first timers" and it did not disappoint. We got the chance to sample lamb, chicken and 3 beef dishes. As well as 6-7 vegan side dishes. Each had its own flavor profile and each was delicious. It was probably too much food for 2 gals, but it was so good! What a great experience. Will definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Weekend lunch here with a friend. Saturday afternoon. Arrived around noon. Not very busy at all. Just a few parties inside. No one sitting outdoors. I started off mentioning this because I have to say, service was a little lacking. Not very attentive but may have been preoccupied in with BOH duties because there were a times when I looked around and didn't see anyone. Food was served quick. Faster than any other Ethiopian restaurant I've been to. That was great because my friend and I were starving. We shared the Emperor, see pics. We both felt the same about the dish - we felt that the flavors seemed a bit muted. Not void of flavor, but maybe not as much spice that we both tend to favor. To clarify, it wasn't bad - just not quite hitting the spot, so to speak.Rosalind's is located in Little Ethiopia on Fairfax. So you know how parking can be. I found a meter a few shops away but I also know that if you don't mind walking, there are non-metered spots down towards the residential areas. Just mind the signs as permits or restrictions might apply. I love Ethiopian food and have been to a number of spots. Not sure if this is one I'll revisit as there are others I haven't been to - but if I do, I'll definitely ask if their dishes could be prepared spicier or with more kick.

Our server recommended the Emperor sampler and it was perfect for our first taste of Ethiopian food. So much flavor and variety on one huge shared platter. Great service and a quaint warm cultural ambience. Highly recommend!

First time trying Ethiopian. Everything was really good and flavorful. I liked the chicken more than the ribs, the beef was a little too chewy. The inside was decorated with little wooden/stick roofs set up under the ceiling so it felt like you were in a hut. Lots of Ethiopian art work hung across the walls. Very fun experience. Street parking only.

This was my first Ethiopian food experience and it was solid! My boyfriend and I ordered The Emperor to share. We were the first one in for lunch and the food did take some time to come out but it was all hot and nicely prepared. I enjoyed how the food was presented and they had plenty of injera to get you full. The injera's slight sourness was not off putting at all and it balanced nicely with the flavors of the platter. My favorite was actually the veggie dishes. If I'm ever back, I probably would just order the vegan platter. The meat dishes were well seasoned, although one was on the drier end and I'm terrible with any sort of spice (but they are pretty mild). I stuck to my veggies while the boyfriend enjoyed the meat so there's something for everyone!Cozy interior with bathrooms available if you need. I appreciate that they had hand sanitizer on every table too.All street parking but we got here early enough to grab a spot only a few hundred feet away from the restaurant. $1/hour for the meters out front, with card and coins accepted.

Located in little Ethiopia in LA just adjacent to a bunch of other Ethiopian restaurants. This place was pretty empty on a Saturday afternoon. Ordered the yedoro wot + vegan goodness. Love me some injera as the sour bread always balances out the rich flavor and spices of each of the curries. Love the red lentil based items and the veggies but the yedoro wot was a little bit disappointing, it was in the blander side to me and I was expecting a more flavor packed punch.

Third 5 star review for one of my all time favorite restaurants. Why? Rosalind's will, without fail, deliver that homey, earthy, flavorful good-ness. The injera is always the perfect amount of sponge, sour, and flavor. And if you order the Emperor's plate, you get an array of flavors that'll get your taste buds grooving. Service is always quick and attentive. Love me some Rosalind's!

Came here with some friends for dinner in June. We got the sampler plate and when she first brought it we were a little concerned it wouldn't be enough food but it ended up being plenty. The food was all delicious. Service was a little awkward and some of the questions we asked, like if they had alcohol or cocktails, we didn't really get a clear answer to. But we had a lovely meal together and let full and happy.
