NOTE: Dined in on 10/27/24Definitely want to write a couple of reviews before the end of the year to shine some light on restaurants that really need some more love here on Yelp.Rockpool sounds a little generic for a sushi spot, but the quality of the fish is quite delicious for the value. In particular, the lunch omakase is probably amongst the best sushi deals I've had for a sitdown spot. I'd definitely take it into consideration over let's say... Sugarfish. People often talk about how "fresh" fish tastes at sushi restaurants, but I feel like the best raw fish is often aged to an extent. The taste of the fish here is good, but I don't feel that they always use the best cuts. For example, the otoro was tasty, but it was not as marbled as I'm used to seeing. That said, another critically important and often overlooked component of sushi, particularly in handrolls and nigiri, is the rice. The rice here is delicately warm, pairs well with the fish, and has a pleasant, slightly sweet and vinegary taste. Simply delightful. The miso soup was also quite delicious, with a hearty, deep, set of flavors in the soup stock, and the scallop hand roll here was so good, I forgot to take a photo before devouring it haha. The lunch special should be enough food for most folks, but you're always welcome to add additional items to it! Now, is it good enough for me to try the more expensive dinner courses? Debatable, but it might be... just barely! The value proposition is hard to ignore, though. It's certainly one of the best deals you'll find on the Westside.

Great place for reasonable omakase prices! The omakase itself was good and the service was nice. the place is intimate and you need to make reservations before you come. I recommend getting a set and it would run you maybe $60-$100

We got so lucky to be 2 of 4 in the restaurant. The servers and sushi chefs were very Japanese, very attentive and very good! We did the Omakase, it was such a nice variety of delicious creations! The fish was so fresh. This place felt way more traditional than most sushi places in LA. We had an amazing, delicious sushi filled dinner here! Must go back soon.

Rockpool is a new sushi joint opened by the same owner of Yasu Sushi. After trying out their omakase lunch special during their grand opening, our verdict is in. My friend and I felt like we were getting the freshest cut you can for the price. Some even more fresh than others. It was very quiet during the Saturday we went, which gave us a lot of privacy to chat over delicious fish. With the excellent customer service and engaging staff, you bet we will be back for their other omakase options.

Rockpool is a rocking sushi joint. We had the Deep Sea omakase which was great for the price and quality. Service is great and staff are very friendly. Decor is simple and nice. My only complaint is menu is very limited on type of fish they serve. Definitely going back.

tried the rockpool omakase! included miso soup and 16 pieces of sushi. i like the halibut sushi and tuna set the best. i wish the chefs were more interactive with us or at least described the dish they prepared instead of the hostess. also i normally prefer bar seating to see the chefs making each piece but you don't get that omakase experince here. FYI you need to book reservations as this place can get busy. but overall cute date spot!

Each bite was amazing and i can't even put into words how great not only the fish was but the sushi rice.10/10 for everything. And the yuzu ice at the end. Wow. No better way to finish off the best omakase to date. The service was outstanding as well. Very sweet people and very knowledgeable about everything that is being served.MUST TRY. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Rockpool was formerly Yasu. It still under Yasu, but with a much lower price point, which is a great news for the city of Beverly Hills. I went to the soft opening. Their omakase has decent quality. It focuses on using local fish in California. That's good for those who are avoiding fish from Japan. Grand opening is tomorrow 8/1. They have 3 tiers of Omakase: Sea Breeze $34, Rockpool $46, and Deep Sea $58. I ordered Deep Sea and did 2 more add-ons. Their green tea is $3. 16% service fee will be automatically added to bill. Parking is a street meters. I will come back again!

Just had the most amazing Omakase at this gem of a restaurant. The fish was so incredibly fresh with the most sublime flavors, prepared and presented so beautifully by Chef Yutaka-san. Joey and Akiko were very attentive and personable, helping to make this all such a special experience. My new favorite sushi spot and I cannot wait to be back.

Excellent sushi. Affordable omakase with a ton of variety and at a great price. Service was great. Beautiful ambiance. Small and cozy, but somehow enough space between tables to not be uncomfortable. We'll definitely be back!
