This restaurant is located in the Arcadia mall, next to Uncle Tetsu. It is a very small place - all customers have to sit at the bar and there are maybe 8-10 seats total. No high chair so not kids friendly, but the beauty of opening a restaurant at the mall is that you can always order takeout and eat it anywhere within the mall such as the food court.I went here for lunch with my wife and my son after shopping, there was no line but a few customers were eating. I ordered the curry hamburger steak and I enjoyed it, and it came with a small greens salad in yogurt sauce as well. My wife ordered the zabaton steak don, it was very good as well. The quality of the meat in both dishes is great overall, and the portion is pretty big so we took some leftovers home for dinner.Other than the limited seating, the dishes are quite pricy so as much as I enjoyed the food, I don't see myself returning but I think 5 star is justified. There is also Chubby Don opening soon which will be competitor, hopefully a healthy competition would either drive either cost down or the food quality even better!

Braved the mall chaos to come try this place but walked away when they wouldn't let us sit unless each person ordered an entree. My fiancé and I came here with a friend and we were going to share 2 roasted beef bowls--one large one regular. No signs anywhere at store or on menu about order minimum.If you're planning on coming here, just know seating is very limited and one order per person minimum.

We came here on a Friday around lunch time (12pm) and got seated right away and we were the only one there. This restaurant is located inside Santa Anita mall or The Shops at Santa Anita as it's known now. It's near Nordstrom and located close to other restaurants. We decided to order the Angus Cut Steak Don and Curry & Rice with Pork Cutlet (Tonkatsu). The steak came with a small serving of salad while the tonkatsu was served with a small bowl of miso soup. The curry was very watery to my taste although the tonkatsu had a good crunch and the meat was tender. The Angus steak is decent and a bit chewy in my opinion. Service was fast but there were only 2 other people beside us. There's a 3.5% fee if you're paying by using a credit card so be aware of this charge or pay cash to avoid this additional fee. They also charge for all the other things like wasabi or extra sauce. Honestly, I expected more since the pricing is a bit on the higher side. This will be a once and done for us but maybe other people would enjoy it more.

Came on a weekday for lunch so there was no wait.Good service, waiter explained their specials, the amount of rice (a bowl) that was under the meat, and warned us the meat is about room temperature.The dish came with a miso soup. I got the US Kobe slice beef don. The meat was very tender. The white sauce was very creamy. The rice was soft and has a but of a sweet sauce in it. Everything pairs perfectly and melts in your mouth.

My friend and I ordered the curry and beef don to share. The curry came with a spring greens mix with yogurt sauce and onion (or garlic) powder that made the sauce taste like ranch. The curry flavor was pretty good but not as good as Taiwanese curry imo. The tonkatsu was soo juicy & buttery for being a thick piece and didn't have that gamey flavor pork has. We were informed that the beef in the beef don was room temperature & not hot but tbh I thought it was on the cold side. It was a warm day outside so it was welcomed. Overall my friend and I thought the beef don was well worth it for the amount of meat we got. It was probably more expensive in Japan.

It's in its soft opening phase right now so the options are limited but they still have their most popular items. The store is located next to Uncle Tetsu and by the Din Tai Fung in the mall. There was a short line to get seated (suspect not too many people know about the place yet) and the seating is around the counter or there's a few 2 seat tables that are kind of roped off between mall-goers and the counter. It's a very casual setting. You order before you get seated. I ended up ordering the US Kobe Slice Beef Don with a raw egg. It comes with a miso soup too. The slices were so good and heavenly. Flavor was on point! I mainly dinged a star because like so many reviewers have said they charge a credit card fee that they don't tell you about nor is it posted anywhere. They also hover over you as you're putting down the tip which is kind of odd and uncomfortable. Overall, I would be back for the food but going to be more careful next time with payment options!

Excellent gyudon place (rice covered with sliced beef, usu. with fried onion). Authentic Japanese flavor. We got sat very quickly (there are no tables, just a long counter to eat in front of the kitchen and get out as soon as you're done. I tried the Angus Cut Steak Don (medium rare) and my friend tried the US Kobe Kalbi Yakiniku-BBQ Don (she asked for it well done). Both were incredible. Good and fast service. 10/10.

It's a very small place in the mall next you Uncle Tetsu. Be prepared to wait if you arrive after all the tables are seated. Besides the wait,the staff was great! The food was delicious. It's pricier than I was expecting, but tasted good.

FYI: THEY CHARGE A CREDIT CARD FEEWaited perhaps 15 minutes on a Friday for a late dinner. My friend and I tried the 2 most popular items they recommended. We had both recently came back from Japan so obviously we missed the food and wanted to give this place a try.Honestly the food is good but for the price we didn't think it was so good that we would come back. As we were paying I was really confused as to how the bill got so expensive when we asked to split the amount. After we payed I was calculating where the price difference came from & was confused. It was only till I came on here to read reviews that they charge a credit card fee!!!!I had no idea & staff didn't tell us and I don't think I saw it on the receipt. Left a bad taste in my mouth unfortunately. I do have to say I like the miso soup tho but still I really wish they were upfront about the fee.

An absolutely fantastic experience! Service was prompt and attentive. We were seated almost right away on a busy Saturday afternoon. The miso soup came first, and hit the spot as always. I got both the Denver steak combo and the kobe sliced beef combo, and both of the dishes were tender, melt in your mouth, and sensational. The place is located in a small corner of the Arcadia mall, and can be easily missed. For such quality, it is suprisingly easy to grab a seat, especially compared to the Torrance location. Will certainly be back!
