Short: The Red Lion Tavern is a cozy spot with a nice selection of beers and traditional german dishes. Decor and atmosphere are the best!Long: I have tried Red Lion Tavern a few times now and each time I really enjoy my time here, however the food can be hit or miss. It has everything you need for a fun Tavern, great beers, a great atmosphere and plenty of seating. Food here is decent but nothing to rave about. It is tasty but sometimes lacks flavor. The best dish is the pretzel and it is something nice to snack on when having a beer. Worth a visit for the atmosphere and the great selection of beers!

A group of my friends and I wanted to find a holiday inspired spot to grab a night cap at and we were not disappointed! This staple of the Silverlake neighborhood was such a pleasure to experience for the first time. A German beer hall and tavern, the group of us sat in the middle level of the establishment. It felt intimate like we had our own private room, plus it was all decorated for Christmas. Our server Sylvia was incredibly kind and took amazing care of us (and make sure to catch her Marlena Dietrich act!). We all ordered a version of mulled wine, a hot toddy, and the Rüdensheimer Coffee, which was a whole table side experience. We also ordered off the late night food menu and got the sausage platter, potato pancakes, and pretzel. We also received a complimentary basket of sliced bread and butter. Everything was great! Will definitely come back. Street parking only.

Great place to meet up with friends! The vibes are chill, and there is lots of seating. Their menu includes an excellent selection of German biers and food. I've been here about 5-6 times, each visit at varying times. The service every time has been very slow, even when they weren't busy. Pro Tip: use a groupon to get the sausage sampler and beer! it's a great deal!

This German tavern is like that cool local dive that delivers pure joy without a hint of pretension. It's not trying to be trendy--just tasty. The vibe is delightfully shacky, like someone slapped a bar on top of a dock and said, "Good enough!" And they were right. I think it wobbled a bit. The owner floats around the bar like a cheerful German fairy godmother. If you speak German, go ahead and show off--she'll chat with you in fluent German and probably make you feel like you're part of a secret club.As for the food, the chicken schnitzel is a crispy, golden masterpiece that might make you weep with joy. Seriously, it's that good. And if you're here for the beer (let's be honest, who isn't?), order it in the boot. Yes, the boot. Drinking beer out of an oversized shoe is not only allowed here--it's encouraged. In short, this place is a quirky little gem that serves up good food, great beer, and zero yuppie nonsense. Go for the schnitzel, stay for the beer, and leave with a grin on your face.

Came here for a few drinks with the wife and ate a quick bite. The service was good. Prices were fair. Beer was great. Parking sucks. We did find free street parking but it was a bit down the street. The crowd was chill. The only reason I took 1 star off was because it got so stuffy and hot I felt a little noxious that I had to pay and leave quick. Maybe a little more air movement and I would return, but until then I probably won't be back.

My adventure at The Red Lion Tavern was a special one. We loved the food there as it was a lot people's first time having this style of cuisine. The atmosphere was awesome! I love a little tavern feel with a cold beer on a cold night. The crew that worked the evening I was there were courteous, patient (some of us couldn't speak English), and knowledgable in their offerings.

My husband and I love this place. We had an exceptional server named Silvia who speaks German, sings Marlene Dietrich and has great suggestions for food/ dessert/ schnapps pairings- we're definitely coming back.

Classic in every way you can imagine it might be.Service, food, and atmosphere are all part of a well oiled machine that could definitely use a little cleaning up... but the roughness is part of its charm. Highly recommended, if nothing else, for eating some sausage in the Beer Garden.

Great British pub with all the fare. Indoor and outdoor patio dining. Small piano bar area that is always fun. Celebrate Oktoberfest all year long. Plenty of parking in neighborhood and large selection of craft beers plus all the German and European beer favorites.
