If I could crush their food into powder and snort it up like a drug, I totally would. That's how good it is. The dishes are affordable and super tasty. They're generous in the appetizers; they offer miso soup and edamame. (I recommend getting the red pork belly, and steamed fish). The interior of the restaurant is nice and the booth seats are spacious. Their service is also quick and there's nothing to complain about it. Tip: come early for whatever meal you want to eat for bc there is a long line!

We had Dinner here to Celebrate a Birthday. We had a big table of 13. A tight fit. A very busy night with people waiting outside before the Dinner opening of 5:00. The place looks nice and clean. The food was good , but not great. We had to wait for a long time for a few dishes to come to the table that should be quick to prepare. The Miso soap was luke warm & weak tasting. Some portions are a bit smaller than I would.like. Service could be better. Parking: A large shared lot.Rating: 3/1/2 Stars

2/15/2025 - This Shangneses restaurant was open about three years ago. It offers an authentic Shanghainese crusine at a lower price for many dishes in comparison to other similar levels of Shanghainese restaurants' in Los Angeles. Many dishes are priced at $11.99 each. A complementary Edamame is 5 stars. It also provides a complementary Miso soup, hot tea and steamed rice for each guest. As a result, a long waiting line daily is normal.

I came to Red 99 Grill with my family for dinner on Chinese New Year, and despite the packed restaurant, we had a great experience! It took over 30 minutes to get seated, but once we ordered, the service was fast and efficient. What we ordered:Crispy Fish w/ Sweet & Sour Sauce - my favorite dish of the night! The fish was perfectly crispy, and the sauce added just the right balance of sweetness and tang.Stir Fried A-Choy - a simple, slightly bland veggie dish, but it helped balance out the bolder flavors on the table.Stir Fried Clam w/ Black Bean Sauce - as a clam lover, I really enjoyed this dish! The flavors were spot on.Deep Fried Lobster - this was the only letdown for me. The lobster was on the smaller side and lacked flavor. It was decent, but I probably wouldn't order it again.Overall, the food was solid, the portions were fair for the price, and the service was quick and attentive. If you're looking for good Chinese food with great lunch and dinner specials, Red 99 is worth a visit! Will definitely be back!

This is an upper scale family style sit down Chinese restaurant with lazy Susan's on the tables for family meals. The restaurant had good business on. Thursday at 6:00 but only medium volume. The decorations/interior are/is very nice. The menu has a good number of options and has good set meal selections for your family or group. There are private rooms available and there is handicapped parking out front. Most of the staff is friendly and efficient, but some of the customers are quite rude. However, when we tired to order an additional dish at the end, the servers were hard to flag down and we had to get a busboy, who was also hard to flag down, to get a server to add to our order. Most in our party enjoyed the fried fish and the steamed fish. The shrimp were a lot smaller for the same dish at other restaurants. The green leaf vegetable had good sauce flavor, but some complained that the vegetables were not fresh. The bamboo dish was just ok and we make it better at home. Overall, some in our party thought the food was just ok and others really enjoyed some of the dishes more than others. We would come back here again and believe they are worth a try.

The place opens at 5pm and already at 4:45pm there's a line forming!Luckily, we got a table when they opened at 5pm and seated in a private room with another table near the back. We were a group of 6, 5 adults one toddler. My aunt ordered a lot of dishes, the place used to serve lunch sized dishes for dinner but has since gotten bigger. Tea is served in a large fancy looking teapot I stead of the white pots I'm used to. We had two orders of the red braised pork, very fatty, sweet and savory, and you can taste a little bit of the cooking alcohol. We also got beef and broccoli, but the beef wasn't as good. Some pieces were a bit chewy while the others were tender so it was a hit or miss.Kung Pao chicken was spicy, however, there were tiny pieces of ginger in it so I only took a bite of the chicken and ate some peanuts. We had other dishes as well however I am not sure the names in English!Restrooms was a bit small, hard to move around and only two stalls. Overall pretty good experience, however there were people waiting to be seated when we left. So come right when they open to get a table!

The food is excellent, and so are the prices, which helps me recommend this restaurant to anyone stopping by. I notice that a lot of other reviewers mention the prices of this restaurant as well, so that is likely the differentiator for this restaurant. I ordered tons of the dishes because I came with a large group, and I can safely say their fish dishes do not disappoint. The service was good but I still had to wait even with a reservation which was a bit of a downer. It was really easy to find parking, which is expected if you're local to this area.

Opens at 11:30a but we arrived at 11:15 and there was already a long line! By the time we entered we had to share a table with another. Inside there are about ten tables for (4) near the entrance and lots of larger (8) to (10) people tables in private rooms or in the rear. We came for the all day specials just $11.99 and if you're interested, some lobster specials for $39.99. We got some braised noodles, pork belly, shrimp and egg, steamed tilapia, tofu, and green beans. Food came by pretty fast. Our party of (4) shared six dishes. Tea, edamame, and tofu miso soup was complimentary at the table.

**Food**: Simply delicious dishes without compromising quality. We had 17 dishes, and nearly all were perfectly prepared--neither too salty nor too sweet. Each dish was packed with flavor and served at the ideal temperature. We enjoyed braised chicken, braised duck, pork belly, lobster noodle, crab, fried fish, chicken and clam soup, braised veggies, and a few desserts.**Service**: Terrific service! Our plates were changed several times throughout the night, and the servers were attentive and friendly.**Ambiance**: The decor was tastefully done with dividers throughout the restaurant. There were also private rooms that could accommodate larger parties, though I'm not 100% certain. The one thing that was a bit annoying was the noise level. The high ceilings made it difficult to have conversations with anyone not sitting directly next to you. For that reason, I removed one star.**Overall**: I would return and try their special lunch options.

Love this spot so much!! Such good value. They take reservations. Otherwise, line up before opening! Their tables fill at opening on the weekends. We've ordered tons off their $11.99 menu. It was $9.99 a couple years before and honestly the $2 increase is low compared to other restaurants! Comes with miso soup AND rice!! Must order:Bean curd with porkShrimp and egg Chili oil fishMapo tofu Green beans Braised pork bellyKung pao chickenAlso great:Tilapia (for the good value)Clams (good value)3 cup tofu You just know their wok is piping hot and makes everything taste so great! If you have a reservation, they will call you to confirm. We didn't respond the second time they called to re-confirm and I think they removed us so we had to wait 30 mins :/
