Come on now! I went to Doordash to order the Short Rib Dinner and was taken back. Your food is the same price but only 1 side? Instead of 2 now. I can't get with it. Everything already so expensive, but paying for good food is something I'll always do. What I can't do is pay for a meal that will end up being almost $40 something after taxes and delivery fees and you've taken away a side. I'll miss your Short Rib Dinner though

I really don't like to write bad reviews, but I hope to help anyone else waste $60 on supposedly soul food that's terrible. Smh I mean just a disgrace to have this place in business and ripping people off who are looking for a taste of grandma's cooking! Not here!! Go up the street to the next soul food place, this is not it. The prices are incredibly overpriced, the Mac and cheese - was not edible. Idk WHAT they used to make it but it didn't taste like cheese at all and it was old and dried out.Yams - Totally CANNED and not even an ounce of trying to doctor them up. SMH just redicilous! The turkey was barely edible, the gooey skin....once you get past that if you like tender not seasoned turkey, go for it! I also ordered the greens but at this point screw it they went in the trash I didn't even try them. The red snapper was good, sad you only get a few pieces with the expensive dinner, again go to the fish market up the street on Van Ness & El Segundo and get triple the snapper, that tastes great! Anyways..m. I'd tell you about the mashed potatoes and other crap I wasted money on but why bother! If you don't get the hint by now...you have issues just like this restaurant. Never again. End story.

As soon as you step inside, you're greeted with the familiar sight of bulletproof glass, a reminder of that the food is about to be fire. However, don't let that deter you, as the warmth of the employees more than compensates for any initial reservations.The star of the show at R&J's undoubtedly lies in their fried fish and shrimp. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, each bite is a symphony of flavor. However, be prepared to order extra tartar sauce, as the portion provided is disappointingly conservative. Overall, R&J's Soul Food Kitchen is my new go to move for fried fish. So, if you find yourself craving soul-satisfying comfort food, look no further than R&J's.

This restaurant needs to close it's door's. I have never had a restaurant identify as SOUL FOOD, but serve you horrible food out of a can. If you've never been, I suggest you don't waste your time. I ordered a catfish meal and paid for a few extra sides and it was a complete waste of my money. The potato salad tasted horrible, like a 3 year old made it. The yams were undercooked and looked like it was right out of a can. My fish was not fried crispy like a requested, instead it was falling apart and soft. I was beyond annoyed. I called back and explained that my food was not cooked properly and the preparation was horrible, and I was told I should have checked my order and looked at the fish before I left. Then said thank you and slammed the phone down. Never offered to refund me my money or even a portion of it. Or at the very least could have offered to discount my next visit (although I'm never going back there again) as a kind gesture. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. You'll be highly disappointed.

I called the restaurant to make sure they gave me tartar sauce and hot sauce and utensils. My order came without hot sauce, tartar sauce, napkins or utensilsafter spending $44.Worse customer service, I couldn't even enjoy the food. That will be my last order from there!!

Meatloaf was nasty and a restaurant had a funny smell. I did not like it. The rice was really hard. Mac & cheese was not mac & cheese. It's like the box mac & cheese I'm mad I spent $20.
