Drinks Only:Its been awhile since I have visited this restaurant.....so decided to stop in for a couple of refreshments during brunch time. Originally I was seeking a nice cup of coffee but after seeing the long line at the coffee shop at this restaurant, I decided to grab a seat at the bar instead that was near empty at 10am on Sunday morning. The bar consist of approximately 12 seats. At this time of morning, the restaurant was offering a brunch menu, which included typical brunch drinks. I ordered a bloody mary that is made with a house bloody mary mix- and boy did it have kick. The bartender mentioned it had an asian twist to it. If you like spice and horseradish, then you should definitely try this- plus it came with a good size meaty shrimp. After this drink, I was still fancying a coffee, so I ordered a coffee, with homemade whip cream and jameson.....this drink hit the spot! And I started a trend at the bar- fellow customers were also just going to grab a coffee and then upgraded to an adult beverage too!We were provided great service at the bar. We appreciated the great service during a busy Sunday brunch. If you do not want a seat at the bar, the restaurant offers plenty of seating, including seats in front of a fireplace and even a fire pit indoors. Or you can grab a table to enjoy a drink with your meal.Beyond, the restaurant, there is also a coffee bar onsite. The coffee bar is very busy on the weekend. You will find a long line during brunch times that does not move fast. The coffee bar offers indoor and outdoor seating. The seating area even includes a turf area for your pooch- on Sunday there were a lot of dogs in this area.

Dropped in for a quick bite on Saturday morning with some visiting family. I went for the croissant breakfast sandwich and we also had some churro bites. Yummy! Whether it's a breakfast beer (try it) or another beverage of your choosing, it will be delicious. While there we got to hear some live music which was absolutely charming. The staff was friendly without circling by too much so that conversations could be enjoyed. It's a place for everyone as we also saw some large group families come in to celebrate over brunch.

Montreal experience with service. Without a reservation we ordered at the coffee bar and it took a while to find seating. It's a cute place close to the beach. It was a perfect winter's February day. Outside seating was comfortable for plus size seating. All the food was delicious and fresh. Shrimp cocktail/ceviche - plump and fresh. Fish tacos were also really good, the blue corn tortillas was really nice too.

Probably closer to a 3.5. Playa Provisions is located across from the Playa Del Rey Beach. Service was extremely slow and it took forever to receive our food. We enjoyed our fish tacos but for how busy it was and the parking, it is not somewhere we would go out of our way for.

At this point, I've truly lost count of how many times I've been to Playa Provisions and yet somehow it just keeps getting better and better! My most recent visit was just last month when a friend was visiting from out of town and of course Playa Provisions delivered a great experience. We went all in and ordered quite the spread including the biscuit bites (YUM), oysters (YUM), skillet French toast, a matcha latte (duh), coffee, and two croissant sandwiches, which is quickly becoming one of my absolute favorites on the menu, especially for breakfast/brunch. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. If I had let myself, I probably would've ordered multiple matcha lattes, but I refrained... knowing I'd be back soon enough :) A special shoutout to our server, Barbara D., who was an absolute delight; so friendly, attentive, and wonderfully patient with two Italians navigating the menu. Service like hers makes an already amazing meal even better. From my very first visit (those fish tacos!) to now, Playa Provisions has solidified itself as a go-to spot for me. Whether it's brunch with friends, coffee on the dog-friendly patio, a whiskey bar visit, or just a casual meal by the beach, there's something for every occasion. I maintain my original rating of 5+++ stars for Playa Provisions! AND of course, another round of congratulations to Chef Brooke for winning Top Chef back in the day! Well deserved!

I love the atmosphere of the place. It's very fresh and airy, and the restaurant is also connected to an ice cream shop. I came here on Valentine's Day for a last-minute dinner but would return to check out the ice cream after a beach day across the street. I appreciated that it was pretty easy to do a same-day reservation by calling in. I got there around 8:30 - 8:45p (they close at 11pm) and they were out of several items. They gave us their Valentine's day special menu that included a Surf and Turf (steak and shrimp) but they were out, and they were also out of risotto. The server was gracious about it though and helped guide us toward some other options on the menu. Our final choices included: Endive and apple salad, shrimp and scallop ceviche, steamed mussels and clams, patty melt, and butterscotch creme brulee. The ceviche was a little surprising because it was different than I expected - it was on the lighter side (more sweet and fruity than acidic). The Patty melt was good but by the time we got to it, the bottom slice was a pretty soggy and harder to eat with your hands. The table favorite were definitely the mussels and clams! We also got a couple of cocktails (Dr. Basil Honeydew; Zarzamora) which were tasty but didnt stick out as much, partly because they didn't taste as refreshing and the main ingredients didnt stand out as much.

5 Stars for the food and 5 Stars for our waitress, Mandy! She was super knowledgeable and steered us in the right direction. We had the Crab Pops, Seafood Risotto and Clam Chowder as well as a delicious Hot Toddy and a glass of red wine. Every single dish had so much depth and flavor. I was really surprised. The ambiance is great too, thanks to the fire-pits and sparkly lights. Beautiful place for a cold winter night.

If Chef Brooke is reading this, my apologies. I am NOT a hater. We as a family are huge fans. First off, I acknowledge we didn't have a reservation and we went on a Saturday at 11:30am. The ambience in the main dining room might have been better, but also maybe evening might be more the full experience. With that said...THE GOOD: That Connecticut Style Seafood Roll was incredible. Beautifully toasted, buttery brioche bun with a warm, delicious collection of nicely cooked seafood inside. Wow. I'm still thinking about it. And the fish tacos. I've had my fair share of fish tacos everywhere from down in Rosarito to all over LA. These were battered and fried so fluffy and perfect. The slaw and salsa were awesome and held firmly together by the blue corn tortilla. Slam dunk. THE BAD: We didn't have reservations, so the girl at the front who seemed like she couldn't be bothered by folks who didn't make reservations pointed us to the cafe where we could order all the food they served in the restaurant, but eat it wherever we could find a seat. The dude at the counter at the cafe was annoyed when we showed up to ask for a menu. He fit the young, handsome college-aged vibe I'm sure the restaurant wants, but he was not welcoming. Maybe we caught the staff on a bad day? I get it. Still, here is where I want to make a point to Miss Brooke and perhaps give some gentle constructive feedback. I know I'm preaching to the choir because you know this, restaurants are not JUST about the food. Yes, it's first on my list, but then service comes in a close second and third is the overall ambience: the cleanliness, the upkeep, the decor, the attention to detail, the vibe. Once again, I did not go into the main dining area. Still, if it were my pride and joy restaurant with my name attached where I'm charging $30 bucks for a seafood sandwich and $20 bucks for two tacos, I'd insure that the place was a beautiful and welcoming oasis. There were dead vines on the overhead pergola. The tables outside were wobbly. The bathroom was a stinky mess. The floors were dark and sticky. I'm sure I'm being way to hard, but I go to enough restaurants to say that good food is not enough to bring me back. Overall, I am not discouraging fans or the locals to come here. This is just a kind PSA that good can always be better.
