I was downtown to watch a show at the Los Angeles Theater Center and my friend and I decided to get a bite here before the show. Excellent Detroit style pizzas!

Visited 01/2024.Pretty unique car themed restaurant in DTLA! Pi LA serves la style pizza, which kinda reminds me of Detroit style pizza. Every pizza on the menu is based on a retro car with the restaurant's interior decor to go with the theme!! The lovebug pizza with potato gratin, onion confit and ham snow (aka shaved ham), was my fav so far. The ham snow was was a really nice touch! (Half $10)I need to have a shout-out to their chili oil sauce on the table. I often see dry chili flakes at pizza places and the chili oils at Asian restaurants, but they went pretty well with the pizza! Not 100% what's inside of them but they have a pretty good herb aroma with pine nuts. (Low-key interested in buying a jar but didn't see any being sold on the way out.)Got a Caesar salad ($10) and it was actually the first time I had it with the leaves whole and not chopped. For desserts, the s'mores pi ran out so didn't get to try it... But the chocolate chip cookies ($3) and dulce de leche brownies ($5) were bomb! Even better when they are warmed up. Though both of these do get pretty sweet (to me) after a few bites so be warned.Parking was hard cuz DTLA but I think might be able to drive into the alley for pickups?Crossed posted IG.

Food was great and you can choose half options. Service was really great and the employees are very nice and check on you regularly. The atmosphere was quite cool. It's in the Allie way and the inside looks kind of future/old dinner style. Super cool spot though

PI LA brings a LA take on Detroit style pizza to DTLa where you're find square thick cuts of pizza along with a variety of fun toppings and fixins. Located down an alley off the street (there are a number of signs, look for the neon pizza sign, and a guard out front) which may be a little less inviting at night, but once inside, you'll be welcomed but might bright lights and a very retro vibe. Pizzas here are def creative. I enjoyed the Seoul flavor as the acidity of the pear played well with the meats and dough. The other, while meaty, had me wishing for more cheese to balance the thick chew of the bread. If you're around, worth a bite and service is nice (can be a bit slower at night when it's not busy).

This is a pretty good pizza place it's surprisingly empty the two times I've been there. It's really well hidden in an alley. The inside is mostly all silver and has a 50's theme. The pies they serve are pre assembled and thrown in the oven which is new to me. I tried the Seoul kitchen and the Love Bug. The Seoul was just not doing it for me. The ingredients by themselves were amazing except the roasted k town spiced pork belly which was a little too salty but shiitake mushrooms, kimchi tomato sauce and Asian pear were amazing but together it just didn't mesh well together. The only reason thing saving this review is the Love Bug which was crafted to perfection, it consists of potato gratin, truffle Gruyère cheese sauce, jambon snow ham and onion confit. I wasn't going to get this but the owner highly recommended it so I gave it a go and I'm glad I did. It was savory, delectable and might I say elegant. Mind you I'm not a ham person but I couldn't even tell. The service a little slow and DTLA parking is always a hassle. It's definitely worth a try.

This is a cool place tucked in a small little alleyway on 4th between spring and Main Street. As soon as you walk in you'll smell the amazing aroma of pizza. The ambience of the restaurant is pretty hip and cool. The service was amazing. They were in the middle of fulfilling, a huge catering order, but they still accommodated me in a reasonable time. The pizza was pretty good. I just got half of a pepperoni pie. I really like the pepperonis they have so much flavor and the cheese they use is top quality mozzarella.. I will definitely be back and I would suggest you all give it a try as well.

My boyfriend and I wound up here on a recent date night. The space is decorated like a weird futuristic diner with silver lamé booths. It took us a while to decide what we wanted because there was a pop-up happening so we decided to get some chicken wings along with our pizzas. I got the half Seoul Kitchen and wing combo. The wings were from The Yard LA (https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-yard-la-los-angeles) - they were tasty. Crispy and juicy, and the dipping sauce complemented them well. I was less enthusiastic about the "Yard Juice" - it was too sweet for me - but I appreciated how friendly Anthony was and how much he and his staff member checked on us while we were ordering and eating. The pizza was ... odd. The crust was nice, if a little bit heavy. But the combination of toppings didn't work for me. It tasted like a lot of things were pre-packaged.I appreciated that they had little jars of chili crunch on every table. I do love chili crunch!

This place has thick square pizzas. I'm still a little unclear on what constitutes a Detroit style pizza, but I feel like an argument could be made that this place serves that style. Even though they label themselves as LA pizza. All I know is that it's really delicious. Really fun creations on the menu, and the place itself feels like an old school diner. it should be noted that it was a little tough to find from the street. You have to walk through kind of an alleyway to get to the restaurant itself. There's a little bit of signage on the street where the address says, but you probably won't be able to see the place itself driving by. When I walked in, I was greeted by a really friendly person behind the counter. When it was my turn to order. the person was super helpful and friendly as well. I also like that you can order half pies. That's helpful cause these are large and dense. I ended up ordering the Seoul Kitchen, which you might expect is influenced by Korean flavors. The pizza had a nice crunch and the flavors were on point. I really love this pizza.I definitely want to come back and try their other flavors/ combinations. Such a cool spot and great food and great people.

Hidden in an alley off 4th street, it is probably the best deep dish pizza in LA. They serve them in big square, whole or half square. You can order a la carte or customize your own they made their dough and grated their cheese. Ingredients quality was top. Also the house made chili crunchy is yummy and just mildly hot.
