Favorite place for Vietnamese comfort food! Westminster is 40 minutes away. Will drive there on weekends but when I crave lemongrass chicken, combination pho, egg rolls, and BBH soup this place delivers! Friendly service and in the heart of Chinatown. Keep Chinatown popping and come here. All we need is a 99 Ranch market and we are set!

Pho 87 in Chinatown is a great spot for authentic Vietnamese food with generous portions. The fresh basil and bean sprouts were so fresh, and the broth was incredibly flavorful--definitely the highlight of the meal. I was a little disappointed with the tofu, as it was a bit spongy for my taste, but everything else was solid. The restaurant was quite busy, so the service was a bit slow, but it's understandable given how busy the place is. If you're looking for authentic pho and don't mind a lively, bustling atmosphere, Pho87 is definitely worth a visit!

We have been eating pho here for years. It is located near Chinatown. It's consistently good. The staff is attentive and service is great. The broth is soooo delicious and makes you want more and more. We usually order for pick up since we are not from LA. They separate the broth from the pho, meat and vegetables. The pho dat biet is my favorite. They have a parking lot at the back so please do not freak out about LA parking!

Second time coming here, and I am convinced this is not only the best pho in Los Angeles... but all of California. I've tried 25+ different establishments in Northern/Southern California, and nothing comes close to this. From the outside, I initially wondered whether this place was even open, or whether I had the right spot... But upon entering the establishment, I was greeted with the amazing smells of all the different foods and entrees offered. Other than that, the interior aligned with a standard/run of the mill pho restaurant. Lots of seating, typically busy though. Each time, I ordered rare steak pho, and it was amazing! The broth was jam-packed with flavors, spices, and seriously good aromas. The meat was standard beef. Just such amazing pho. Also ordered pork egg rolls. These are good as well, and better than average pho-restaurant egg rolls.Service is nice, I had the chance to chat heavily with one of the hosts my first time around. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. Other than that, the entire crew is kind and prompt as well. I look forward to stopping by Pho 87 each time I come down to LA!

Found this place on Yelp and wanted to give it a try based on the many high reviews. Like everybody mentions the parking can kind of suck like everywhere else in LA it's small and basically in DTLA. It's pretty spacious inside and even all the tables were filled on a Sunday morning and a lot of people waiting to be seated. Waiting didn't take too long though but even while eating I noticed there was a lot of people coming in and waiting for tables. I noticed there were a mixture of different races too so that's always a good thing. We all ordered pho dac biet and the spring rolls. Now I can see the hype and wait. It's pretty good here! Not as good as my go-to favorite spot in San Diego but pretty darn good! Their broth was nice and flavorful before any additions. I noticed all they had for condiments were just sriracha and hoisin though. No sugar, black pepper, or fish sauce like I'm used to. I really liked how they brought out vegetables for each person and not 1 boatload to share like I'm used to. I also liked how when we ordered spring rolls they brought out 3 sauces for each of us instead of just 2 like again, what I'm used to lol. They surprisingly had nuoc beo so that's a major plus. They didn't have the vinegar onion slices I believe they just brought out regular onion slices but it was still fine. Delicious! And definitely cured our hangovers a bit.

It's not often I feel like I had a perfect bowl of pho. I've tried Pho from Little Saigon, the San Gabriel Valley, The San Fernando Valley, and San Jose--all densely populated Vietnamese enclaves--and I can easily say that Pho 87 is one I won't forget. The special pho with combination beef is generously stuffed with various cuts of beef--brisket, steak, meatballs, and tendon. I always avoid using hoisin and sriracha sauce in the broth so I can properly taste the nuances of the broth. This broth was aromatic, hearty, and perfectly seasoned, never tasting too salty or heavy. The rice noodles themselves had the perfect texture as well, with every slurp leaving me wanting more. Egg Rolls were crispy albeit a little greasy on the outer layer. Some of the best egg rolls I've had that aren't made by my aunt. Lastly, the Vietnamese Iced Coffee was amazing and I savored every sip. I'm a glass half-full kind of guy and on my drive home, I saw that I had finished half of my iced coffee and was so grateful there was more waiting for me.The energy inside the restaurant was also palpable. You have a diverse group of customers in line--Asians, Latinos, Whites, Blacks--and at the tables as they wait and enjoy a delicious bowl of noodle soup. Service is fast and inefficient, and the ambiance is bustling.Pho 87 offers an amazing and authentic Southern Vietnamese culinary experience. As far as LA, this is the best I've had. Compared to OC, this is absolutely in the top 5 of the best pho I've had.

Came here on a Saturday for lunch and got seated immediately. Food was delicious! We got pho tai (#3), com dac biet (#53), and spring rolls. Parking was a little difficult but there is some metered street parking around. Service was fast and kind. When packing our food to go, the worker was very kind and thorough when explaining how to re heat the pho and he packed it for us :) inside is clean and simple, the outside is just a small door and doesn't look like much but don't be fooled!

Service and food were quite delishis! Loved the ambiance as well. Only concern is some boy sat outside the store watching the lospollostv and masturbating and he said his name was Joshua Danh Lam. Kind of weird but otherwise fun!
