Philippe The Original isn't just about the food, it's an experience. This place is a old-school, loved by locals and tourists alike. The long line moves fast, adding to the excitement! Their Pastrami Dip and Beef Dip are amazing, especially with pickle chili and spicy mustard. Unlike other spots, they pre-dip half your sandwich for the perfect flavor.Pair it with macaroni or potato salad, and don't miss the $0.95 lemonade, a rare find in 2025! End your meal with NY cheesecake, perfect with a glass of wine. Friendly staff and a unique experience make this a must-try in LA!

How do you go wrong with the original?I always try to make a stop and order a double dipped when I eat here. There's a reason why they haven't changed. Aside from all the Dodgers memorabilia, this place is a hit! The sides are fantastic. I get either the potato or the Mac salad. Parking can be a pain sometimes. They have parking around the back of the building and street parking on the side.

Food: 4/5Service: 3/5 (Have to order at the counter)Ambiance: 4/5I haven't been to this place in a while. Last time, I had their beef dip sandwich, and it did not disappoint. This time, I came for an early breakfast and ordered the breakfast combo. The bacon was a bit salty for my taste, but the pancakes were fluffy and delicious. If I were rating based on just this breakfast experience, I'd give it a 3/5. But considering how good their beef dip sandwich is, I'd bump it up to a 4/5.If you're craving a solid dip sandwich, this is definitely the place to go.

What I Ordered:-Short Stack w/ Pork Chip, 2 Sunny Side up Eggs, Coffee with Cream $19.95-Cornbeef Hash $6.95-Potatoes $3.75-Donuts $1.25 EachI never knew that Philippe has breakfast. It seems like many people don't know about it despite having menu posted inside the restaurant. I only heard about it because one of my good friends (Cindy S.) on Yelp told me about it. Ever since then I knew I had to go. I was off on a weekday and wanted to bring home some breakfast for the family. I got up early to run and get breakfast to bring home for the family. I ate some food at the restaurant to see how it was nice and fresh. Personally, I would skip the pancakes. They were so-so to me. The corn beef hash was satisfying, but it was nothing to write home about. It tasted like your standard corn beef hash. Price wish it was a bit expensive. I think I rather get a can at home and cook it myself. The potatoes were pretty good and fairly priced for portion size. I asked which one was more popular the ham or the pork chops and was told the pork chops. Without hesitation, I decided on the pork chops and boy was that the right call. The pork chop were cooked to perfection and nice and juices. I ate one inside and it was really good, but when I brought one home to share it wasn't as juicy and a bit dry. It won't travel well. Keep that in mind for those getting take-out. I substitution/upgraded for the short stack. Next time, I'd like to try the biscuits inside. I also got the legendary donuts. I heard whispers about their legendary donuts, but never knew they actual existed. They have three types of cake donuts. One is old fashioned, powered sugar and the other being cinnamon sugar. These kinds of donuts remind me of the ones you would find at the orchard or farm stand. Nothing fancy or overly sugary. Just classic goodness! The donuts are made fresh every morning and they sell out often before 9:30-10 AM from what I read online. You'll want to get there early. You can get a donut and coffee for under $2! You can't get a cheaper breakfast anywhere else. I love this spot!

A classic LA joint you have to visit at least once. Got the classic beef dip (single sip) and pastrami dip (single dip), both on a French roll; a side of potato salad; and a pickle (the staff will slice it in quarters upon serving, it's huge). We asked for extra au jus on the side so we could control the wetness of the sandwich. These are no frills sandwiches. If you're looking for classic deli vibes, those are the flavors you're going to get. The meat was tender and the au jus is the flavor punch it needs. There was a spicy, horseradish-based sauce on the tables if you wanted a little kick. Glad to have checked this icon off the list! Tons of indoor sweating (two floors); small, free parking lot behind the building; and don't forget to check out the merch on your way out!

I've been wanting to come here for a long time. I've always felt this place would have long lines. But when we arrived on a late Tuesday morning for lunch, there was no wait and plenty of tables. The service was quick and friendly as well. My son ordered a double dip Beef French dip and I ordered mine wet just like I ordered my Italian beef's back in Chicago. I had a bite of his and there's definitely a noticeable difference in flavor both sandwiches. You can taste the beef more in the double dip and wet is a bit more saltier but not in a bad way. The bread also tasted very fresh. Nice and soft but didn't break when picking up the sandwich. Definitely a must try when in LA.

My first time visiting this location, the inside is so cute and it looks, as if though it were a movie prop!!!' a total blast from the past !!'there's plenty of seating and perfect for big groups before an event. there's a wide selection of items to choose from including desserts, and a variety of different vegetarian and pescatarian options if you have a friend that doesn't eat meat. The service is amazing. The staff is super friendly and quick to bring your order. I absolutely love this place and will definitely be coming back in the future.
