Osteria Mozza is one of my favorite Michelin restaurants in Los Angeles. Its approachability, superior food, and wonderful service separate it from being just another Italian restaurant. I have now eaten at OM twice and both times have been consistently excellent. The ambiance of OM is equal parts suave lounge (think dark colors and wood accents) and modern Italian chefs table restaurant. It suites families, intimate dates, and business dinners alike. The service of OM is top notch. Seamless transfers from check in to bar to table make the experience feel intimate and inviting. Further, I appreciate that, despite not having a consistent tasting menu, the waiters do a good job of suggesting a progression. Of course, if you want pairings, a sommelier is on staff too. Moving to drinks, I have been consistently impressed with the large selection of great wines and delicious cocktails. The bar serves up a good mix of classic cocktails and newer fare. I enjoyed a few old fashioned this past visit and they were delightful, as was the wine that was suggested to pair with the duck. Onto food, Nacy Silverton's Italian menu boats big, bold flavors that focus on the fresh ingredients. My all time favorite dish is the orecchiette, followed closely by the luscious, moist bread. I always will opt for the burrata as well. From there, I have tried (to my delight) different options: the duck, the octopus, and a few desserts. Nothing I have had was ever "okay," and the dishes range from "good" to "spectacular."Onto price, as Michelin restaurants on Melrose goes, OM is a deal. While you will pay about $150 or so per person with a drink, you will walk away feeling full and satisfied. All said OM is a must try and one of my favorites. Ambiance: 4.5/5Service: 5/5Drinks: 5/5Food: 5/5Value: 4.5/5Consistently: 5/5

A bit of a delayed post. The atmosphere was nice and was a good mix of what seemed like casual dinners and some special events. The appetizers were amazing (Mozzarella di Bufala Condimenti with a tin of anchovies and the radicchio salad). We also ordered the tortellini and the rabbit pappardelle, and the olive cake for dessert - we were looking forward to the oxtail tagliatelle but unfortunately they were out. While the appetizers were delicious, my rating is moreso based on the service and the fact that the pasta entrees didn't stand out as much. In regard to service, my husband and I went to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary. The table next to us also happened to be celebrating their 1-year boyfriend/girlfriend anniversary and we overheard their server pouring a complimentary rosè as a starter because they were celebrating an anniversary; my husband noted that we were celebrating our anniversary on our reservation and we also received a card acknowledging our anniversary but didnt get any other type of acknowledgement, which usually wouldn't be a big deal but was a bit disappointing just because we saw the adjacent table receiving more of that. There was also another instance where I asked for wine but only received a glass of it because the bottle was tapped out versus receiving the 250ml noted on the menu.

An absolutely outstanding restaurant setting the standard for service and ambiance in a big food city while offering classic and unique Italian dishes that can charm the most discerning of critics. Below is what was tried:Fettunta - 4 1/2 Stars. This is pretty much a few slices of thick bread soaked in butter and light seasoning. Wow! (Don't get this if you're on a diet) Nancy's Caesar - 4 stars. This is deconstructed, lettuce to one side of the plate, egg and leek and the other components of the caesar on the other. While I appreciate the creativity, this was not a showstopper for me. Orecchiette - 5 stars. Favorite pasta of the night! The fennel sausage was rich and delicious, the pasta was cooked perfectly, and the flavors all worked beautifully together. Doppio Ravioli - 3 1/2 stars. Sunchokes and mushrooms filled the ravioli, but this dish was not for me. I didn't care for it. Japanese Sweet Potatoes - 5+ stars. Second favorite dish of the night, this side dish is so delicious! The créme Fraîche and cider syrup just work, and the potatoes are so rich in flavor. I'm obsessed with this!!Bombolini - 5 stars. Pillowy little donut balls that are light and airy served on a delicious huckleberry compote with a lemon mascarpone. I was happy with just the huckleberry, but the lemon I'm sure will satisfy others. Espresso Martini - 5+ stars. I'm not one to rate a drink, but this was excellent!Service was phenomenal! It's clear our waiter Shawn has tons of experience, knows the menu blindfolded, knows how to charm a table, and was always close by to help. The ambiance is upscale, filled with guests enjoying business dinners and family's celebrating special birthdays. This is an absolutely charming and reliable spot!

Highly recommend making a reservation. They have valet parking or if you're lucky you can find street parking.Their service was immaculate and they make sure to clean the table after each round! Their star is no hype and well deserved OrderedBurrata trio 3/5 - good try for the first time but personally only like 2/3 in the trio and overall it's an okay app for me personallyDoppio ravioli 5/5 - great flavor and contrast of textures with the crunchy trumpet mushrooms and creamy/soft ravioli- will def get again!Tagliatelle 3/5 - pass imo a bit lackluster. Especially compared to the richness of the ravioli. This just felt like there wasn't enough flavorDuck confit 5/5 - what a way to end the meal! Extremely crispy skin and tender meat. The pear sauce was a great pairing tasting like a sweet horseradish almost

Came here for a special day on a reservation and was seated immediately upon entering. Such a fancy experience and dining here was such a nice memory. The food here blew my mind. Starting from the bread to the appetizers and to the pasta dishes, they were absolutely delicious. Our waiter was so friendly, impatient with our choosing of wine and they were very knowledgeable.Definitely will be back here for any special events and can't wait to try their bread again. Their octopus appetizer is really popular and tastes so good! Definitely get the octopus and try their bread if you can! They do have valet parking or you can try parking on the street and walking over. Reservations highly recommended.

Not sure where to start with this one because the disappointment was loud and overwhelmingly. The ambiance was nice, but nothing special, and the valet was the best service we received last night. The condimenti was the best bite of the evening; the basil pesto and the salsa romesco paired beautifully with the perfectly salta mozzarella. The bread was excellently crisp without being dry or oily. The black olive tapenade was not really my jam, but the caperberry relish was surprisingly delicious. The octopus was ok. Grilled and charred nicely, albeit a bit chewy, I believe it was as tender as octopus could possibly get. Interestingly paired with celery, potato, and green onion. The menu said lemon but it had no hints of citrus, and the potato was so mushy and flavorless I thought it was a bland, over ripened pear. Celery and onion seems random, but the flavors worked well with the octopus. The tagliatelle and garganelli...a gut punch. No personality, no pizazz, no chutzpah, no salt. I could taste the faint hint reduced wine in the oxtail ragu for the tagliatelle, and I did appreciate how thin the pasta was. The garganelli was forgettable, who is she?. There's that. All in all, I'm a foodie and I am inspired by delicious food. Whether it's inspiration to write a 5 star review, or to order half the menu. Neither were accomplished tonight. The server was kind, but I didn't know his name until the check came...Maybe I did myself a disservice by having a late reservation, or high expectations. Both?I may visit again, in hopes of leaving a better review and trying the Raviolo (they were out), and maybe I'll be inspired enough for dessert. Pouring milk into my Special K as I edit this, because the only leftovers that came home are the pasta and I need time to doctor it up tomorrow.

I've dined here several times over the years dating back to when it first opened, and it is always a special time, because the service is excellent and the food/drink are mouth-watering refined perfection. They consistently operate on all cylinders, and my recent visit was no exception, so I could not recommend this restaurant more highly!Regardless of when you go, make a reservation. They do take walk-ins if they have space, but the one time I was a walk-in (spur of the moment decision) my friend and I were lucky to, after a 10-minute wait, squeeze in sitting at the bar on a weeknight.I just had an amazing dinner here with my husband and brother-in-law in October, and our server Jen and sommelier Evan took the best care of us. Everything was well-timed, and the wine pairings were perfect and Evan knew the backstory to everything we drank. Our food highlights were:- Mozzarella di Bufala Condimenti - This is top-quality fresh mozzarella served with the perfect toast and 4 delicious condiments. The condiments are basil pesto, salsa romesco, black olive tapenade, and a caperberry relish, and while all are fantastic, the caperberry relish was a surprise favorite for me. Highly recommend this fun and flavor-packed appetizer for sharing. - Fett'unta - I had to order this because I like bread and I like plain things. This was an excellent like 4-inch thick slab of toast, the tastiest dough, just so simple and perfect. I'll probably get this every time, plus an order to take home with me!- Orecchiette (fennel sausage and Swiss chard with ear-shaped pasta and toasted breadcrumbs) - This is one of their most popular dishes, as it's a crowd pleaser - savory, meaty, satisfying.- Butternut Squash Tortelloni - It's a luxurious slippery pasta, so decadent with liberal use of butter and brown butter, nicely complemented with sweet Bahri dates and woodsy chicory. This is a good choice if you like things on the buttery and slightly sweet side.- Pici - This is my new favorite dish on their entire menu and it's so simple (and just happens to be vegetarian), featuring simple hand-rolled long noodles with semi-dried tomato packing a punch of flavor, plus garlic breadcrumbs. SO YUMMY!- Rosemary Olive Oil Cakes - You get these cute little mini cakes that taste to me like cornbread if Italians made it, if that makes sense... The olive oil gelato is similarly sublime, and the rosemary brittle balanced atop the dish was beautiful with very strong fresh rosemary.Again, had a perfect time here as always. Highly recommend.

Not one of the best Italian restaurants but one of THE best restaurants period in LA. The pasta is perfection and my favorite is the ricotta and egg raviolo. The brown butter sauce is just out of this world. You also need to do the mozzarella tasting. I wasn't crazy about the desserts but who cares when the pastas are this good. What a place!!!!!
