My family went to Origin BBQ on a Thursday around 6:30 for dinner. We were seated quickly but the restaurant definitely filled up throughout the night and I imagine there could be a wait on weekends. I was really excited to try Origin because I remember when Kang Ho Dong Baekjong opened.... It tapped a new market somewhere between value maximizing AYCE places and the more upscale, pricy BBQ stalwarts like Parks or Chosun Galbee. Origin is from the same owners as Baekjong and is inside the space of the old Baekjong, and seemed to attempt to deliver a similar experience - quality, premium meats without the fuss. Seemed promising!!My family of 5 - two adults and three young kids - ordered the small beef combo which was supposed to feed 2, and we added on an additional order of beef tongue and pork jowl. The combo also comes with all the normal veggies and sides, corn cheese, steamed egg, and a bean paste soup with ramen. The bean paste soup with ramen is a whole freakin' entree in its own right, we were shocked by how big it was when they brought it! Ooops, ordered way too much food....My kids loved loved loved the marinated galbi as well as the jowl. (Compliments to our server Ian for doing all the cooking to perfection!)If you haven't had jowl at kbbq, you gotta try it! Tender, juicy, and delicious! The tongue was also excellent, and the brisket as well. Truthfully we were way too full by the time we go to the bulgogi and we had to pack it to go!Overall, we were impressed with the taste and service. We spent under $200 and were all stuffed. Not cheap, but the quality and service justified the cost. Bonus that I didn't smell like smoke when we left.PS - Parking tip - if the lot inside (entrance on Kenmore) Chapman Market is full, just go around to the OTHER side (Alexandria) and enter the parking lot BEHIND the building. Usually more empty.PPS - the rice punch is really good too

Walked in on a weeknight. Not as busy as their competitor 10 steps away but honestly it was just as good. Banchan was already laid out upon seating. Our server was attentive and quick to cook. Sides were fresh and you get some lettuce and perilla leaves to wrap. We got the dinner for 2 menu and the garlic short rib was very memorable. This little area is a win-win situation. If there's a long wait at one, go to the other. I will say, I am a huge fan of a good steamed egg and I did have to ask twice when it was included. It came out at the end when i was already almost full. Didn't seem like a server issue maybe a miscommunication with the back of house? Either way I'll be back and recommended to a few friends already.

This is a fantastic Korean BBQ restaurant that offers high-quality meat and has English-speaking servers. The restaurant is spacious, well-ventilated, and has comfortable seating. The only drawback is the parking situation. If you don't arrive early, finding a parking spot can take a while, especially if the parking lot is full during busy times in Koreatown. We ordered the large beef set for four, and it was just enough for us. We really enjoyed the side dishes, and the staff were quick to replenish any sides we requested. The brisket and marinated bulgogi were juicy and flavorful. We also tried the steamed egg and kimchi pancake, which were both good. The restaurant cooks for you, allowing you to relax and enjoy your meal. If you're looking for a place to enjoy Korean BBQ in a nice ambiance, this is it!

Average kbbq spot in LA Ktown. None of us was super hungry so ordered the small. Chose to stick with the beef selection but they do have pork as an option. We tried the prime rib. Beef brisket, and bulgogi. My fav is always the brisket. Prime rib was good too. Not so much of fan of marinated beef when it comes to bbq. As usual all of these orders come with the soft egg soufflé, chive kimchee, and pickled radish slices and rice cake sheet to wrap the meat in. Just realized they didn't include garlic which is my fav.We also ordered a side of cold noodles which is essential when eating kbbq.Overall was decent but not my fav spot.

I would have to say this is probably my new favorite kbbq place. The only downside is where it's located since it's in the same plaza as toe-bang & quarters, there is hardly ever any parking nearby. We opted for the beef set (small) and added pork belly since I wanted to try their pork belly. I love that they had two stoves: one for the grill the other for their corn & cheese! The server was very prompt in grilling the meat for us. I love that the menu showed you how to make a ssam. Their side dishes were delicious too. We didn't read the top of the menu but the top of the menu states that ordering the set comes with corn cheese, steamed egg, and brisket soybean paste hotpot with noodle. I was so shocked when they came out with a WHOLE pot for the hotpot. I legit thought it was just going to be one of those small pots that the steam egg or tofu soups come in but NOPE, it's a full on hotpot. This was WAY more than enough food for two people. I would definitely come back.

We booked a table at Origin for NYE and it was such a great decision of how to kick off the night. We ordered the Origin classic set for 4 and it was just the right amount of food and then some. Meat quality was excellent, good selection of refillable banchan and the meal is topped off with filling spicy ramen at the end of the meal. Our awesome servers helped monitor cooking our meat for us and were constantly attentional about refilling our drinks and banchan. Food comes out quickly...so come hungry!Located in the Chapman Plaza it was an easy location to get dropped off at and there were other great eateries in the plaza to also check out. The atmosphere is awesome and great for group dinners. We can't get wait to come back.Highly recommend

Origin is the replacement for what it used to be known as Baekjeong inside chapman plaza. Origin Korean bbq is by far my favorite place to go whenever I have friends and family visiting or if I'm in the mood for some kbbq. This Korean barbecue has many of the similar features that all other Korean barbecue restaurants have with a plethora of side dishes, egg, stew, and sauces for your meat. What separates this restaurant from all other kbbq places is the quality of the meat and the dif different types of meat combinations that you can order from based on how many people are in your party. Individual servings are also sold here.Drink menu for alcohol are also similar to anywhere you would go in ktown. Origin has a lot of tables and can get really busy and loud.Parking is available in the back and valet is also available inside Chapman Plaza, but highly recommend that you park on the street or just Uber here. Reservations are recommended as long wait times can occur.

Absolutely our new favorite Korean bbq spot! The ability to make reservations online makes it a no brainer when we are planning to get dinner with our friends. The restaurant is renovated which made it slightly different from khd before. The seats are way bigger and the grills are nicer. You even get a burner for the cheese corn and soup! The combos are easy for groups and we like to order a la carte on the top like pork jowl or beef tongues. Their banchan is delicious too, it's great to be able to get more ssam and rice paper. We always love the ramen in the end too! The service is quick and friendly and most of the time they cook the meat right but we always like to keep an extra eye on it. Parking in the plaza is always packed but they do have overflow in the back.

Very good kbbq restaurant. Honestly I would like to give a 4.5 star if I could, but it would be more fair to round up than down. Service was very good. They tend to the grill and always appear just in time to flip. The ambiance was nice. Selection was good. Banchan was goodThe meat was pretty good, not amazing. Portion size was good, could have been a little larger. Not the best kbbq I had but above average. Still very tastyOverall we had a great time. Good food. Great service. Would recommend
