Omakase Course, in order:- Complimentary shirako- amberjack, red snapper, halibut - 3 types of yellowtail. Callout from these cuts was the shima aji, which was super crunchy for yellowtail. This was one of our favorites.- Sea bass, mackerel / scallop - scallop texture was a bit mushy which was interesting but my gf prefers the texture to be bouncier. Since I was allergic to scallop, I got sea bass as a substitute. For the mackerel, it was fishier than we hoped since we've had fantastic cuts of mackerel at other omakases.- Chutoro/ootoro - The chutoro was very meaty and had a smooth texture. Ootoro was super fatty/greasy/even smoother than the chutoro and reminded us of wagyu- Kama toro (5/5): One of our top pieces from this omakase. This was one of the meatiest cant even believe it's tuna. Fattiest and greasiest. First time we had it- Seared halibut fin - Flavor bomb, slightly greasy with a nice smoky flavor and a bit of the salt just combined together really well and gelt like a main entree. Super soft with a slight chew from the sear.- Salmon special with seaweed and lemon - strong citrus flavor but the sesame gave it a nutty taste too, almost like candy. Super unique way to prepare salmon and we were impressed. Seaweed also gave it a nice visual flair and some crunchy texture too.- Bonito skipjack - strong sesame flavor with a tang of citrus/ green onion aftertaste that cuts throigh the flavor. Texture was closer To albacore, less smooth than the other cuts- Isaki (white fish) chicken grunt - a little salty, delicate, with a fresh flavor from shisho leaf and a tang from the yuzu. - Uni from Santa Barbara - super refreshing as it was cold but also very creamy and a bit sweet!- Beef baguette miyazaki - very creamy but slightly sweet with the basalmic vinegarette that was added. Paired well with the buttery baguette.Overall (5/5): We came here to try the DineLA omakase menu and we weren't disappointed. It was essentially the same omakase menu C they typically have but with an added handroll and extra 2 pieces of fish. While it wasn't the first time we've been to this location, we've never tried the omakase here and were very excited for the chance. We loved the quiet and private vibes, though the omakase experience was a bit different from other places as even at the bar things were a bit impersonal and the waiter brought over plates of fish. We also couldn't really see the chef so missed the show part that normally comes with omakase. Other than that we felt like everything was fantastic and it was a well-priced omakase. The fish were all fresh and delicious, with some unique pieces that we hadn't had before.

High quality sushi restaurant with a variety of menu items to choose from. They have a good lunch special that's also available on Saturday.I tried the hand roll set this visit and it's pretty filling. The hand roll sets come in various quantities.Service overall is pretty attentive. They regularly refill waters and check in on you.The restaurant has an intimate feel with dimmed lights and small rooms and booths. They also have a larger room for private parties.Parking can be found in nearby lots, garages, or there's also metered street parking which is hit or miss.I love the high quality food, good service and reasonable prices. I will be back!

Quiet, classy establishment perfect for family gathering or a date night out. Most value is premium chirashi bowl where they offer to make a soup out of the large prawn head! Rice is perfectly seasoned too. Wasabi tasted fresh and not artificial. Salmon ikura came with at least 8-9 large pieces of salmon. Pretty good service & value for the upscale price.

Amazing Omakase experience at 8:30pm with the most attentive and friendly staff! I'm so glad we came for an impromptu omakase @ Thursday night! Everything on our set was so delicious, buttery, melted on your tongue delish!! The A5 Wagyu toast dessert was so unique and amazing. They tell you 2 bites but wow you'll want to savor for 3 bites lol Loved the intimate booth seating and spotlight lighting on the food but not on guests! Please check this spot out if you are a SERIOUS Nigiri/Sushi connoisseur!!(:

It's been two years since we last came to Ootoro and we missed their food so much! The lunch deals are the best and we always get a toro don and toro cut roll. This restaurant has one of the nicest toros we've ever had. Extremely soft and buttery. Beautiful ambiance and definitely feels like a fine dining experience.

11/27/2024 - Went to lunch today to celebrate Holiday Seasons. The Toro Don is super, fatty and fresh. A Fish Head Soup is also very good. Take a half of the soup to go.Both waiter and waitress are very good. Although this Ootoro Little Tokyo has not yet been on an annual Michelin Guide yet, but its Irvine store is on a Michelin Guide. The efficiency is high. I entered the restaurant at 11:35 a.m., and exited the venue at 12:15 p.m. Also, the green tea is complimentary, whose taste is better than most paid green teas at other restaurants. I will definitely go back for lunch again.

We came for a friend's birthday because she's been raving about this place for a very long time. Considering that it was a Sunday dinner, the restaurant was pretty empty. The restaurant was very clean and the interior was like a warm modern style. Most of us got either the regular chirashi or the premium chirashi bowls. I would personally suggest the regular chirashi because it's about $20 cheaper with still very thick cuts of fish. The regular chirashi was more than enough for me, but if you eat a lot, you may need some extra sides. The premium chirashi comes with more specialty fish like the toro, ebi, and ikura. The sushi rice was all cooked perfectly and seasoned to perfection. The fish head in the premium can either be fried or in a miso soup for you. The server first told us that the premium comes with miso soup, so we didn't order any extra miso soup. However, when they asked if we wanted the shrimp head fried or in a soup, we didn't know that was the miso soup they were referring to and so didn't end up coming with miso soup because we got the head fried. I suggest you try the hot tea if you're a fan of tea rather than ice water!

We wanted to go to Hama sushi but it was wayyyy too packed, so went to ootoro instead and loved it! We've been to their other locations in Walnut and Irvine, which felt a little different so not quite sure if they're indeed owned by the same management. I got the blue fin tuna chirashi which was really tasty, they give you so much fish! We also got their hand roll set which was pretty good but wish they would bring out the hand rolls a bit slower.
