Located in the heart of little Tokyo plaza, this is one of many sushi restaurants located here. We chose this one because we happened to be near it when we were getting hungry. Service was great, we were greeted and sat down right away. Our server took our order and the food was brought out promptly. The restaurant itself is very small but seemed authentic. The rolls were fresh. They do have restrooms available for customers only.

Oomasa Restaurant is one of many restaurants located in Japanese Village Plaza and has been opened since 1972. I only ended up here because one of my family members preferred rice over noodles and this seemed like the optimal option in Little Tokyo without having to wait outside for too long (5-minute wait on Saturday).[Parking]: Free 2-hour validated parking at Japanese Village Plaza parking. If not then just park at the Aiso Parking Garage.[Amenities & service]: Restroom is available to use for customers. Service was alright. Maximum of 2 credit cards split per party/table. [Menu]: Fairly uninspiring menu with about 75% = dishes you could easily find in the refrigerated section of Mitsuwa Supermarket or Tokyo Central such as bento boxes, sushi rolls, sashimi, makimono, etc. The remaining 25% of the menu features mostly hot dishes like noodle soups, miso soup, etc. Their specialty items include bento boxes with a variety of choices such as teriyaki chicken, tempura, tonkatsu, sashimi, salmon, etc. Prices for hand rolls are not listed on the menu so customers need to ask their server for the specific prices of each roll, but price for each hand roll isn't exactly cheap.***#1 Chicken Teriyaki & Tempura Combination (served with miso soup and steamed rice - $17.50): This was the most affordable bento box option on the menu and it was still $17.50. The combo included miso soup, rice, mac & cheese, orange slices, seaweed salad, green salad, and dipping sauce for the tempura. Teriyaki chicken pieces were nicely fried with a perfectly crispy exterior (grade = A). Tempura pieces were lightly fried with just the right flavor after pairing with the tempura sauce (grade = A).Miso Soup could have been better (grade = B-). Mac & Cheese lacked flavor (grade = C+). Green salad had a nice salad dressing that was spot-on (grade = A-).***4-star on the chicken teriyaki & tempura bento combo, but minus 1-star on the hefty price and mediocre service. This is a decent backup dining option in Little Tokyo, but there are certainly better Japanese spots available in Little Tokyo if you're (1) willing to wait a little longer and (2) open to options beyond rice-based dishes.

When I was standing outside looking at the menu, someone walked by and said 'tourist trap'. That was a very accurate description of this restaurant. Stopped by for a little snack while shopping and got some sushi. The sushi was not fresh at all. No flavor! They also do not have any fresh wasabi or kazami wasabi.

We were walking around the village and were so hungry! We came here so tired and ordered some drinks and edamame to start. Our server Michael was so nice and friendly! The food was okay. It wasn't out of this world but a quick spot to eat and keep going!

Great service, even better food! We stumbled across it and decided to go in.We did not have to wait even though they were busy our server was extremely attentive. We ordered a few spicy tuna rolls, edamame, vegetable tempura and some delicious drinks . The atmosphere was lively yet intimate enough to hold a conversation. It was the perfect spot to get away from all the crowds outside. Smacked at the end of a busy/touristy area was an incredible restaurant. Highly recommend this spot if you're in the mood for sushi.

place is quite spacious and staffs are very attentive. order saba shio: the fish tastes ok but the combination with macaroni is definitely no for me. suddenly feel like this is not japanese cuisine. lol... the yellowtail roll is just ok too. prices are average and i think i just give three stars at this time for the foods...

Friday date night and we decided to drive to little Tokyo since we haven't been there in awhile. There were tons of restaurant options in Japanese Village and we decided to try Oomasa because it is located right at the prime area and the outside menu photos looked pretty good.Once you enter the restaurant, you feel like you have traveled to Tokyo or Osaka with its beautiful traditional Japanese decoration. There is even a sushi bar counter at the center of the restaurant. We got seated right without waiting since it was after 8PM and the attentive waitress took the order right away.We ordered Oomasa House Special Combo and Nabeyaki Udon. The food came pretty fast and visually both looked very nice. The sushi and nigiri were fresh and tempuras were nicely battered and fried. It was so good that I could eat 2 sets of the bento box without hesitation. The udon noodle in the nabeyaki were perfectly cooked (not too soft) and broth was nicely seasoned. For sure we will try their other dishes next time when we stop by Little Tokyo again.

First time here and loved it! Japanese wife said typical "Old School" Japanese. We don't have these in Sacramento any more. Such a shame as this restaurant would probably be a solid 4.5-5 star in Sacramento. Two hours free parking with validation. Don't forget to give your ticket to the waitstaff. Food was really good, fresh and prepared like a home cooked meal.

Not sure where are these high ratings coming from. Used to pass by this place and they used to have long lines outside. Fast forward to today. No lines. Inside only one table being used by 2 ladies.Food was not good. I didn't finish. Bland and overly salted. Miso soup was mainly salty water. No miso flavor. Salmon teriyaki was salty farm raised flavorless fish with brown sauce that was supposed to be teriyaki. Chicken teriyaki was pale and covered with same brown sauce. My friend and I call this as a one and done. May have been good in the past, but not in 2025
