My husband and I went to n/soto for our Valentine's Dinner and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The pacing of the food was perfect and the service was excellent. The money to food portion ratio was pretty fair.If you are able to snag a reservation inside, I would recommend it. We only had an option for patio seating and, while it was comfortable, the ambiance and decor of the indoor dining area seemed more special. Our dinner:- Warm house made tofu: nice starter but not necessarily something we'd order again. Tofu was nice and smooth.- Blue crab hand roll: crab was on the sweeter and creamier side. It was good but I find myself preferring warmer rice (like that of Kazunori and Sugarfish)-Gyutan skewer (3 pieces): beef tongue skewer, so tender and succulent. One of our favorites.- Pork Jowl skewer (3 pieces): loved the textural differences and the yuzu sauce. Another one of our favorites!- Maitake Mushroom agemono: tempura-like batter. Green tea salt was perfect. The mushrooms were a little oily for my liking. But my husband and the table next to us raved about it lol.-Tori Donabe: serves 4-6 folks, so portion is a bit larger. The wasabi sauce was so clever (spicy and savory) and helped cut a bit of the richness of the chicken skin and rice. We were pretty full at the end of the dinner but had to have a couple bowls.- Profiteroles: if you have space in your stomach, would highly recommend it!! Loved the combination of dulce de leche ice cream, matcha, and white chocolate elements.Overall the dinner was nice, because the money value was great. We didn't have alcoholic drinks (because I'm pregnant) but had the experience of fine dining for a relatively good price and were happily full. We definitely look forward to coming back again :)

overall just ok skewers were very salty, beef tongue was very strange - had parts of regular beef meat to it...?everything was just overly salty and soy sauce flavored可能我们口味比较淡 但实在是不懂为啥在xhs上火起来了sushi的quality 很一般,鱼还行 米饭。。。

I went here on Saturday around 5:30PM and we were seated right away. The staff was great and very attentive. We ordered a few different types of nigiri, the ribeye skewer, their mentaiko potatoes, the karaage, the toro handroll, and 2 of their cocktails. Everything was absolutely delicious! My favorite bite of the night was their toro handroll. The fish to rice ratio was perfect and the added shiso leaf was amazing. I would go back just to order that again and I'd be satisfied! Definitely pricey but a great date night spot or place to celebrate a special occasion.

What We Ordered- Monkfish LiverSkewers:- Chicken and Scallion- Chicken Meatball- Prime Beef Shoulder - Beef Tongue- Lamb Chop- Spanish Pork Belly- Unagi- Beef TripeNigiri:- Smoked Black Cod- Toro- UniHand Rolls:- Toro- Blue CrabI've had N/Soto on my bookmarks for quite some time. Took my fiancé here for his birthday and we were both blown away! Favorite skewers were the Spanish Pork Belly (very fatty) and Beef Tripe! We were very surprised at how the beef tripe was presented. It was flavorful and did not taste or look like organ meat! Would not recommend the prime beef shoulder. It was extremely chewy/dry. The Lamp Chop was oddly presented. It was sliced and drenched in a sauce. I've never had Beef Tongue in chunks and was surprised it was so tender!! All the nigiri and hand rolls we tried were great! Seafood was fresh. We will be back!

We had a great experience at N/Soto! Making a patio reservation was easy, even just a couple of weeks in advance. The patio itself was cozy and warm, even on a chilly night, which made for a comfortable dining experience. Valet was available for $12 as well.As recommended, we ordered 4-5 dishes per person, which was just the right amount to feel perfectly satisfied. The service was decent, but the food truly stole the show--everything we tried was delicious. The standouts for us were the beef tongue skewer, miso bone marrow, toro caviar nigiri, furikake potatoes, and chicken meatball skewer. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and packed with flavor. If you're looking for a spot to enjoy a variety of elevated small plates, I'd definitely recommend N/Soto for a nice dinner.

spent 250 between 2 for wine, sake, and tapas. Food is delicious; pricing is actually fair for the amount of food. I was expecting each dish to be smaller than it actually is; but surprisingly it was good for two. Chicken wing yakitori wing for 7 you'd think is steep, but its de-boned and flavors were on point. The Nigiri is a nice selection as well and it comes in quantities of 2 which is perfect for a date night. Great ambiance; the food is way better than their bento boxes during the pandemic and I would go again to try more dishes.

* Price: moderate to high. Tapas style. Between $10-$50 dish. About $100-$150 per person (with drinks, tax and tips). 3-4 stars.* Ambiance: modern but casual. Patio seating is comfortable. 4 stars.* Location: central LA. A bit ify but pretty safe. Plenty of street parkings. The restaurant is somewhat hidden behind the Ivy. There is valet option. * Meals: delicious! 5 stars.* Service: excellent. 5 stars. We came as a group after visiting LACMA. We made our reservation via website. They probably will allow walk-in since the dining room is pretty spacious. However, if you are coming in a group, probably want to make reservation ahead. They get busy fast.Meals:- warm house tofu, $9. Smooth, silky. Must have.- crudite, $16. Salmon aioli, market veg, bread. Ok. - sashimi moriawase, $45: variety of fishes. So fresh! If you like sashimi, this is a must!- beef tataki, $23: another favorite dish, thin slide, beautiful presentation, burst of flavor!-Hokkaido scallop sashimi, $26: so smooth, tender, not fishy! Must order.- Nigiri: Hokkaido uni, Toro, maguro, etc. Everything is high quality and fresh!- Hand rolls: blue crab$12 each, Toro $14 each. Toro is so good. - Lamb chops $9.5 each. If you must order cooked dish, this should be the one. Very tender, perfectly seasoning, grilled.- Adegashi mochi, $13: Shrimp wrapped in shish leaf, deep fried, served with fried mochi. Must order. We actually ordered 3 of these for our group of five.- Miso baked bone marrow, $21. Very rich flavor and texture. Definitely try once.Desserts: we tried all four deserts on their menu. - Okinawa yam pudding, $9- back sesame brownie with chocolate ganache and vanilla ice cream, $10.-mochi profiteroles with chocolate ice cream, matcha white chocolate and hazelnuts, $12- melon kakigori, melon shaved ice with yuzu green tea meringue, $12.Everything is very sweet. I would recommend to skip dessert. But if you have to, melon kakigori gets my vote.- Drinks: we tried nonalcoholic drink, wild zero, yuzu, amazake and peach ,$10. Very refreshing.Service is excellent. Everyone is very pleasant. Our plates were replaced intermittently. We were not rushed out of the restaurant. Final verdict: thumb up! Definitely order sashimi, negiri. You can't get better quality fish anywhere else. Skip the dessert. Not worth the calories!

Nice spot. Overall food was good, expensive. A few dishes disappointed it the service and ambience made up for it. Lol I probably won't be back, it was a good experience. On street parking only. In general the sushi pieces and hand rolls were good. The salad was really tasty. Other hot items , not so great. Hard pass on the salmon rice. Almost sent it back.
