Every once in a while, I like to pop into Musso & Frank but it had been a while. I had had a long day at work and was driving home when I decided since I was going through Hollywood, was hungry and had had a successful work evaluation, I would dine there.First off, the valet makes everything so much easier. Musso & Frank is one of those places that the minute you enter through the door you are in a scene. Even though it was very early for dinner, not quite 7pm on a Friday night, the place was buzzing with activity. The hosts were very kind and kept me informed during my 20-30 minute wait for a seat at the counter. I was a walk-in, dining alone, and I didn't mind the wait at all. It's great spot to people watch and admire the historic rooms. When I was finally seated, service was prompt. I already knew what I wanted. I like the professionalism of the waiters. They are prompt and come to you when you need to. I don't need waiters to tell me the history of the place or explain dishes or entertain me. I just need them to take my order, serve the food and be attentive in case I need something else. That's what my waiter did in a very crowded house.Dinner was perfect and just what I wanted. I love the crab cocktail, I had the lamb chops and both the asparagus and avocado salad as my sides with the lamb. I hadn't had the avocado salad before and was surprised what a complete salad it was with lots of other items on it besides avocado. The quality and freshness of all the vegetables was excellent. An apertif (aperol spritz) and a couple of glasses of good wine (the French sancerre and the Italian malbec) completed the meal. It's not cheap by any measure but as a treat and for the ambiance, it's well-worth it. I recently returned from a long trip to Paris and oddly enough, Musso & Frank, reminded me of Paris. Crowded, active, historic and the way wait staff served with professionalism but not to entertain you or be your buddy was very Parisian. As a native Angeleno, I love this place.

If you're looking to splurge on an incredible dining experience, do it here. Booked a reso for my husband's bday and this is one of the best dinners we've ever had. From the minute you valet your car, you enter through the back of the historic M&F, like you're a VIP being snuck in to your favorite booth. The restaurant is classic with dark wood, white table cloths, and red leather booths, with the wait staff all dressed in suit jackets and working together like a well-oiled machine. My husband was given a bday card from the restaurant which was a nice gesture. But our meal?? WOW. We ordered dirty vodka martinis which came with a tiny carafe of the extra cocktail in ice so you could pour as you drank your martini down. For food we received complimentary house bread, but we ordered the Ribeye Cap; the New York strip; potatoes au gratin; and broccolini. Ordered the classic cheesecake and limoncello for dessert. Everything was excellent. You won't regret spending the money an evening here. Worth every penny.

Where do I start? A last minute idea of trying Musso and Franks turned out to be one of the best choices we've made. Although it is highly recommended to make a reservation at this restaurant even weeks in advance we took a chance and what a meal it was. We were sat at the counter immediately, the staff was constantly running and doing all they could to make everyone happy. We got to see the chef prepare every fish and steak in the open fireplace in front of our seats. My wife got the New York steak medium well as she does not like it to pink or and blood running from her meat. The steak was cooked to perfection and very moist easy to cut and chew with amazing flavor. With her steak she ordered the burrata salad which she finished every bite of. I ordered a prime rib with baked potato and could not help myself after seeing the onion rings to order a side of rings. The prime rib had only a little bit of fat which was very nice as they served a great slice of meat. The stuffed potato was perfectly cooked and the onion rings were scrumptious. We ate unit we could not eat any more and wound up taking part of our steaks home and more than half of the rings which were able to eat for lunch the next day. This will definitely be a location we will be going back to and bringing friends and family with us. Of course making a reservation first. We parked in the valet lot behind the restaurant and walked into the facility from the back. Being that this is a historic building the stairs are steep, you walk past a couple of antique phone booths either radial dial phones very cool picture spot. Once into the restaurant the buzz of the people enjoying themselves was a nice atmosphere. But for sure sitting in front of the fire place watching the chef cook the steaks to perfection was impressive.

(Playing Catch Up: Review for on Saturday night dinner on 11/23/2024)DRINKS (4 Stars)I had my usual glass of Chardonnay. It was Not nicely chilled. My sister had a cocktail drink. I like the way they serve their cocktail drinks including their martinis. Because they put some of it in a nicely- chilled container for your chilled sorta refills.FOOD Bread - The bread this time was no good (1 Star)Appetizers (5 Stars) - The ones we ordered were really good. We had the Steak Tartare again. However, I noticed that it was significantly smaller. We had a second appetizer -- I think it was the mushroom. And it was really delicious as well.Main Course (4 Stars)My sister had a steak. I don't remember what it was. But she was happy with it. I had my usual Lamb Chops. The main reason that I like Musso & Frank is bec they are the only restaurant that served Lamb Chops that taste like lamb chops. But this time I noticed that the lamb chops did not have its characteristic taste. But at least they served it with mint jelly. My disappointment with the Lamb Chops prompted me to by a Smart Oven and broil my own lamb chops. So when I got my smart oven, I bought lamb chops at Whole Foods. I remember several years ago that WF's lamb chops really tasted like lamb chops. But this time, not anymore. So I guess it is not Musso's fault that their lamb chops don't taste that much like lamb chops.DESSERT (5 Stars)It was my sister's birthday and they gave her a complimentary dessert. And that is nice because many restaurants don't do that anymore. The complimentary dessert was like a Brownie topped with Vanilla Ice Cream. Not too shabby.PARKING - Valet and I recall that the cashier had an attitude (3 stars)

I've been to Musso's several times over my visits to Los Angeles, and it's always a pleasure. It's truly a unique dining experience in this day and age-- the menu and ambience harken back to the golden age of Hollywood, right down to waiters donned in red jackets. Start off your meal with one of their famous martinis, served with a sidecar, and you'll be on the right track! The menu is classic American fair, lots of steak and seafood options. I enjoy the sand dabs, which are hard to find at many places. The dessert menu features flannel cakes, which are a kind of pancake filled with fresh fruit of your choice. Don't pass up on these!A visit to Hollywood is incomplete without a meal at Musso and Frank's!

I can't believe that Musso&Frank has been in my backyard and I have never been. Maybe it's because I do not venture into Hollywood anymore?? But, I recently went there for Saturday night dinner. Make sure to make a reservation because it does get packed. I went close to closing time on Saturday and it was still pretty busy. Service was very good. Server came out promptly to take our drink and dinner order. I had a cocktail, which was pretty good and oysters as appetizers, which was tasted fresh and tasty. But, what was sooo good was their steaks. I tried both the filet and ribeye. The meats were tender and delicious. My choice out of the two was filet. I also had a few sides (broccolini and mac and cheese). I enjoyed the broccolini, but did not enjoy the mac and cheese as much (I thought it was bland). But, overall, I had a really enjoyable dinner with great food. I would definitely come back here again. I really enjoyed the old school charm of the restaurant. As a heads up, they have a pretty big valet parking in the back, which is good so that you don't have to try to find parking in Hollywood.

The Musso and Frank Grill has always been a mandatory stop for me whenever I'm visiting LA. It doesn't matter if it's lunch or dinner, the meal is always quite good. If you're into Hollywood and movies, Musso and Frank has historical significance as the oldest restaurant in LA. A gazillion movie stars since 1919 have visited here. We sat at the counter right next to where they cook the steaks. It was fun watching the guy moving the steaks around. They sell a LOT of steaks! My salmon was exceptional with a very flavorful sauce on top of it. My wife's filet mignon was cooked perfectly and extremely tasteful! Our side of truffle mac 'n cheese was some of the best we've ever had! The restaurant knew it was my wife's birthday and gave her a complimentary brownie with a candle! The cocktails were excellent and the service at the counter was first class! Our visit to Musso & Frank was one of the highlights of our trip.

Been here a few times. This was probably the time we came in and were lucky enough to get open seating at the counter. Close to the fire grill where they were throwing huge pieces of meat down! Drinks are great here and definitely feels like a New York joint!Sitting at the counter you get a ton of attention and I love the vibe!

I feel compelled to update this review, since our first visit Musso & Frank has become our go-to place for special occasions, celebrations, parents in town. Every meal we've had here has not disappointed - it's ALWAYS phenomenal and the staff is amazing. Tonight, Craig served us and his knowledge, food timing, and hospitality was fantastic. Frankly all of the servers and staff we've encountered are amazing from the front desk, bussers, everyone is so friendly and makes the experience well above par. Food:Ribeye Cap - it's incredibly tender, cooked well, not too salty. Highly recommend! Chicken Parm - my husband loves this dish, it's a big portion but is amazing. Highly recommend.Wedge - so tasty, love the big chives, it's very refreshing! Highly recommend!Jellied Consommé - they were out last night but I LOVE this to kick off the meal. Beyond recommend!Truffle Mac & Cheese - not an overwhelming truffle flavor which is great, I believe it's with cavatappi pasta. Recommend!Mashed Potatoes - light, perfect to share for the table. Recommend!Creamed Spinach - very good, not too salty. Recommend! Martini - the side car is such a brilliant touch, they always make these perfectly as ordered. Highly recommend! Bocale - for a proper full bodied red, I always get a glass of the bocale, so good. Get it! Cant wait for our next visit!

Musso & Frank Grill is an iconic Hollywood experience that delivers on its reputation.Let's start with the martini--perfectly crafted, exactly as it should be.For dinner, I had the prime rib and filet, accompanied by three standout sides: potato lyonnaise, broccolini, and creamed spinach. Everything was cooked to perfection, with flavors that truly elevated the meal. What sets this place apart is the timeless charm and quality. It's leagues ahead of chain steakhouses like Morton's or Ruth's Chris, even though they have their merits. Musso & Frank simply offers something special--a blend of history, elegance, and superior dining. If you're in Hollywood, this is a must-visit for an unforgettable meal!
