I've worked in City National Plaza since 2013, with a 2-year hiatus, and I'll say with confidence that Mr. Mustache is the best place to eat in the food court. I have colleagues who will only eat here or go outside of the building for lunch. Just look for the long line that usually stretches past Cilantro/Robek's, or smell the bacon to lead you to the right place! (I do not know the owner's name, despite having many casual conversations with him, so I'll refer to him as Mr. Mustache. Even though I cannot recall whether he actually has a mustache). This place started as a one-man-show, hole in the wall, borrowing the kitchen of Weiland Underground and serving out of a window on the side of the restaurant. When I returned to work here in 2022, I loved to see that not only did he make it through COVID, but hired a few staff members and expanded to his own storefront with a real menu. Love to see them thriving! The food is always fresh, delicious, flavorful and reasonably priced. Mr. Mustache always seems proud of his culinary expertise; everything is freshly prepared from scratch and he reminds me of an artist when it comes to his food. Back in the previous space, he used to try out new soups all the time. The menu is more stable now, but everything I've had is always delicious; the Nicoise Salad, the Nice Little Salad, Market Chicken sandwich, and Tomato Mozzarella sandwich are always hits. He also makes the thickest, tastiest bacon that you could order on the side. Sometimes, I stop by and order a few bacon slices or some of the buttery toast/croutons (please get that if you're getting a soup or salad!) just as a snack! I just tried his new Roasted Peanut Kale salad and it was such a flavorful experience! The line can get long, but Mr. Mustache and his team are super efficient and always keep it moving quickly. They only accept cards. Check them out!

Went here for a quick lunch away from the office with some colleagues. Don't be intimidated by the long line because this place is a machine and will get you in and out with your sandwich in less than 7 minutes even with a long line.I really appreciated the fresh ingredients - toasted ciabatta, fresh turkey meat (not deli), arugula, and bacon in the Market Chicken sandwich. My biggest tip is to order extra sauce on the side in case the sandwich comes out a bit dry. Contemplate your order before getting to the register and save yourself the stress of ordering but not knowing what you want! They want to keep the line moving for everyone else which is why this place is great for a quick bite for office workers on lunch hour!

This is solid sandwich shop which operates mostly as take-out. I've been here a few times for lunch and absolutely love their sandwiches. It has no name in front, so it's easy to miss. I've passed by it numerous times, until a friend told me about it. It's located bottom level of Paul Hasting's building, near Robek and Cilantro Grill. Just look for a line of people in front and a gal taking orders behind the small counter. Don't get deterred by long line, it actually goes by fast and service is super quick. My last few visits I was in and out in less than minute. Prices for sandwiches are very affordable at $8.50 and they are quite big too.My favorites are the herb and market chicken sandwiches which I always pair with small cup of tomato bisque. The perfect match indeed, I imagine them holding hands and skipping off into the sunset. Both sandwiches are delicious and flavor profile is excellent. I love sun dried tomato so I'm more favorable to herb chicken, but market is just as good because it has bacon. What makes their sandwiches so special is freshly baked ciabatta bun giving them crisp and warm texture. I was totally amazed how good they were when I had one for the first time. I'm not big into sandwiches, but Mr. Mustache's sandwich has won me over. They also have 2 other sandwiches on menu (packed tuna and mozzarella/tomato) and salads which I have yet to try. Can't wait to come back....

Review for their breakfast burrito (May 2024)Mr Mustache does it again! This bfast burrito is well balanced, tasty, and affordable. Both the red and the green salsa were mild and fresh. At under $6 you can't beat it.This was the perfect size burrito for me. I ate the whole thing in one sitting, along with both the red and green salsa, and felt satisfied, not disgusting. A hungry man would probably want two. This is a two egg burrito where the eggs are prepared over-medium. At first this is odd as most bfast burritos have scrambled eggs, but you get used to it after two bites. The bacon is thick and cooked perfectly, and the tater tots actually make this burrito feel lighter than those with the greasy hashbrowns. The little bit of cilantro cream adds something different. There is no cheese. It's not heavy or greasy or too salty.

Don't be deterred by the line as it moves quickly. The service wasn't great as they were trying to keep the line moving. We went early but somehow they didn't have caesar dressing. The cashier made me a salad without it and seemed a bit perturbed when I declined a caesar salad with no caesar dressing. The soup was the best item I ordered. I think it was corn chowder. It had a nice mild spice to it. The star of course is the sandwich. It's basically all bread but the bread is very fresh. I don't particularly enjoy sandwiches that are bread heavy but this one was pretty good. The harvest chicken is a bit soft on flavor, but still worth a try. Overall, great quality for the price. You can actually try all 3 options for like $20.

The freshly baked bread makes the sandwich delicious! I tend to go fir the tuna, not too oily and the fat get broken down by the veggies addedThe line is usually long but moves quickly.I have tried all sandwiches and soups and you can't go wrong- great price!

I got the market chicken sandwich & the poblano corn chowder & a can of coke. All for under $15 dollars, reasonably price compared to everything being so expensive. Never mind the long line that you see. It goes by really fast.

This place hit it out of the park for me; I'm a tomato soup fanatic and a lover of all things vinaigrette, and this place had possibly the best tomato bisque I've ever had, and they include a sort of delicious dressing mixed with the greens on your sandwich. On top of that, all the ingredients come together for a perfect flavor and the bread is chefs kiss. The price point is perfect too - A perfect A+!

Limited menu, executed brilliantly. Their Oil Packed Tuna sandwich reminds me of a Nicoise Salad on excellent French bread. Soups are on point. Our building is lucky to have them.
