Wowwww, I was not expecting this place to be this good. This is now one of my favorite restaurants in LA. The food, the drinks, the service, the ambiance, honestly I couldn't fault a single thing. Like really really exceptional. A 7.4 on infatuation is a crime, this would be in the low 9.0's for me. Perfect date night or fun spot with friends. Such a vibe. Highlights were the beets, aguachile, the branzino and the fried chicken taco, which was everything we ordered. I don't think you can go wrong here. Will absolutely be back.

Had an incredible dining birthday experience at Mirate! This spot perfectly blends modern vibes with bold, authentic flavors with a twist. We started with the Yucca Sucias, which were crispy, well-seasoned, and paired with a deliciously rich sauce--an addictive way to kick off the meal. The Pork Belly Tacos were a amazing, featuring perfectly crispy yet tender pork belly with a balance of savory and slightly sweet flavors. The Cochinita Pibil was melt-in-your-mouth tender, packed with deep, smoky, and citrusy flavors that showcased the magic of slow-cooked Mexican cuisine. To finish, we had the Chocolate Cake topped with fresh fruits, which was indulgent, rich, and the perfect balance of sweetness and freshness. Every bite was a delight! The ambiance was lively and stylish, with great music and a fun crowd. Service was friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. If you're looking for a trendy Mexican spot with incredible food, this place is a must-visit!

The place is a gorgeous vibe and ambiance. I love the theme and decor. The drink selections were really good and a very wide range of variety. What took off points for me was the food. The food wasn't spectacular and it was missing the authentic Mexican food flavor in my opinion. Tried: 1. Queso fundido - rating 3/52. Camaron Pelao Tlayuda - rating 2/5 3. Cochinita Pibil - rating 2/55. Yucca 2/5 (the yucca was hard, like if it was reheated)4. Churro Donas - rating 5/5

To start, the outside did t even prepare me for the beauty that was this restaurant on the inside. I was absolutely amazed and surprised by the decor. The server was super sweet and nice. I am sober so she gave me awesome recommendations on mocktails. I wish I remembered what she got me but it had pineapple in it and was so good. I've gone to other places and the mocktails always just taste super sweet and this one taste super delicious. The lighting is low but it sets the vibe up just beautifully. Me and my friend had the carne con papas and shared a Caesar salad. The stake was so tender and flavorful. The potato's were so like and crispy which was a great contrast to the tender steak. I will have to come back to try more food.

I watched the youtube video of the POV bartender for this place. Great watch that goes into detail about each of their cocktails that they make in house. Of course I had to then go try all these cocktails which is what I did! | F O O D |Salsa- they give you fried blue corn tortillas that you have to break Queso Fundido 8.5/10- the leeks and chorizo in it made it sensational!Smashed Avocado 6/10- their version of guac just wanted some more textureQuesadilla 6/10- really good just get the queso fundido instead Baby Gems 4/10- the texture was off for me Aguita de Melon 4/10- I didn't like the combo of flavors Rainbow Carrots 8.5/10- the Tom Kha sauce was addictingMains:Fried Chicken Taco 9/10- I was shocked at how good this one taco was!Short Rib and Bone Marrow 9/10- the meat, beans, and top with a little guac all wrapped in a warm tortilla PERFECT!Dessert:Churro Donas 8/10- my family was too full so I ate them ALL! Drinks: Tu Compe 7/10- fruity and has a fun little game when scan the QR codeEl Guero 4/10- way too spicy for me El Caminate 3/10- tasted like a jolly rancher not my thing | A T M O S P H E R E |The place is beautiful with plants and brush flowing throughout the dining area. They have an upstairs and downstairs in the middle a giant tree providing lighting and beautiful spectacle. Made it better that the chairs were so comfortable having pillows in each seat. | O V E R A L L |I went for the drinks, but was honestly disappointed, but I shouldn't be shocked since most of the drinks they have are with mezcal which is no bueno. I still enjoyed trying them and our waiter was very helpful in trying to find me a good cocktail for me. The entire meal was my family saying why haven't we found this place sooner. I enjoyed the meal greatly and when my family loves it even more than me thats a win! We will back for a good time 8.5/10

From the moment we made our reservation to the time we were seated, Mirate delivered an exceptional experience. The attentive service was truly impressive--our server went above and beyond to explain the menu and drinks in detail, making us feel both welcomed and informed. The food was absolutely incredible! We started with the guacamole, which was fresh and perfectly seasoned. The fried chicken tacos and pork belly tacos were bursting with flavor, and the carne asada with chimichurri sauce and fries was a highlight--tender, savory, and perfectly cooked. For drinks, I had the coconut margarita, which was refreshingly unique and delicious, while my husband enjoyed the nitro pulque--a drink that was both creative and smooth. Our kids were thrilled with their mocktails, a delightful mix of fruit juice and Mexican Squirt, which made them feel like part of the experience.Mirate is not just a meal; it's an experience. Highly recommend for a family outing or a date night--you won't be disappointed!

I'm no stranger to Mirate, as the ambiance, spirits, food, and service are exceptional and keep me coming back. This time we changed things up and opted to have dinner at the bar. We were greeted by Adam H (two Adams behind the bar and both were fantastic as mixologists and servers), who truly raised the bar for what a dining and drinking experience should entail. This bar is busy, prepping drinks for the folks at the tables as well as those at the bar. Adam(s) didn't miss a beat and did it all with expertise, were super friendly, and made our experience top notch. Sitting at the bar changes the experience all together. Learning about one of the largest Mezcal selections in the USA, it is hard to figure out whether you want to go the route of cocktails or give some Mezcals a try. We started with Pulque, often dubbed "the drink of the Gods" was hand pulled from the tap at the bar. We then started into our adventure of mixology, each trying a different cocktail offered on the menu. Adam led the way, making suggestions based on our taste. None disappointed, but I always lean into El Guero. Delicious, get it! We took our time eating, starting with appetizers and adding a few dishes as we progressed through the evening. The Queso Fondido has to be the best we have ever had, with the sauteed leeks just putting this dish over the top. The chips (tostadas) were plentiful as they accompanied the salsas which were delicious, the Queso Fondido, as well as the Kampachi Aguachile Tatemado. We moved on to Yucca Sucias, an absolute must. Yucca fries smothered in shishito queso and chorizo verde, this dish is not to be missed. The Quesadilla was the last dish ordered, a corn tortilla filled with huitlacoche, cheese, and guac. Dessert always closes out the night, even when sitting at the bar. Who knew? Churro Donnas and Gansote were the choices and both did not disappoint as reported by my family. I simply could not indulge. I was stuffed. This establishment is wonderful from all aspects. It is inviting, comfortable, and simply beautiful, situated in this bustling Los Feliz neighborhood. There are two entrances, on off of Vermont and the other in the back alley. Regardless of which way you enter, know that you will be well taken care of during your stay. Street parking is ample, watch the signage to avoid ticketing. Valet is available, as well as an $8.00 lot reserved for the Dresden or neighboring establishments. Enjoy this experience, it shouldn't be missed.

When we were here in May of this year (please read my initial review below), we were blown away by the beauty, elegance, and authenticity of Mirate. I noted that I wanted to come back at the holidays for some gifts from the Tienda, now housed in its own little niche near the front bar, re-styled, Tiendita. We were warmly greeted by the receptionist and told to take all the time we wanted. (We could have sat in the alcoves adjacent to the bar and sampled the possibilities, had we not been pressed for time.)I had done my homework, studied the history and concept of mezcals (which I have discovered and found I like, me, a teetotaler!) and then asked for help making a selection from the carefully curated selection of one-of-a-kind spirits (from tequilas, to mezcals, to sake!) in their respective niches.Aldo came to help. I explained what I was looking for and showed him my two choices. He advised me on the merits of each and I finally chose a rare vintage (and limited collection -- only 50 gallons left anywhere) exclusive to Mirate, its owners having judiciously identified the mezcalero as one of the oldest and best in Oaxaca. Aldo gave me a short biography of the cooperative Tres Tiempos, bagged up the bottle and reminded me that we could attend a flight where we would learn more. As our previous experience here suggested, Mirate is the best of the best. I cannot imagine this ambience, quality, and customer care anywhere else. The store itself is a little experience, well worth its own visit. Make sure you pick up the Mirate beverage booklet and prepare to be educated on mezcal and more.

Our dinner at Mirate was an incredible experience from start to finish! The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, with colorful decor that set the perfect mood for a fun dining experience. The food was the highlight of the visit. We started with their pan de maiz which had just the right amount of kick; however, it was our least favorite choice due to the dense texture of the cornbread which required perhaps a little more honey or sweetness. Do not miss out on devouring the kampachi aquachile tatemado. Perhaps the best kampachi I have ever had! The balance of acid, sweetness, texture, this item was an explosion of flavors. For our main course, we had the carne asada con papas (steak and fries), and they were both perfection. The meat was tender and seasoned beautifully, paired with fresh toppings that brought everything together. The fries were extra crispy on the outside, delectable on the inside. Pure crispy deliciousness! The service was exceptional. Our server Bethany was attentive and friendly, making great recommendations and ensuring we were well taken care of throughout the meal.Don't skip the drinks! The drink menu was a book that needed translation. Therefore, we went witht he recommended Guero coctail which had a great kick, enough citrus and sweetness--perfectly balanced and refreshing.I would highly recommend Mirate to anyone craving authentic Mexican flavors with a modern twist and a great dining experience. I'll definitely be returning soon!
