Mee Dee Thai Kitchen delivers on bold flavors and comforting dishes. I ordered the Cry Baby Noodles, Pad See Ew, and Lamb Shank Mussaman Curry, and everything was well-prepared with rich, balanced seasoning. The Cry Baby Noodles had a solid kick of heat but weren't overwhelming, letting the savory and slightly sweet flavors still come through. The Pad See Ew had a good charred wok flavor, and the noodles were the perfect texture--not too soft or overly sauced. The highlight was the Lamb Shank Mussaman Curry. The meat was incredibly tender, falling right off the bone, and the curry had a deep, slightly sweet flavor with just the right amount of spice. It was a comforting, well-executed dish that I'd definitely get again.Service was attentive and friendly, making sure everything was to my liking. The restaurant itself has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, great for a casual meal with friends or family. If you're looking for solid Thai food with well-balanced flavors, this place is worth checking out.

The only thing authentic to this Thai restaurant is the fact that it's located in kosher town so expect it to be bland in that regard because culturally, Thai people like to serve what they can sell regionally. It's instilled into our culture to cater to our locals. Long wait times, small kitchen, wrong order doubling our wait time and didn't get a single dish in a half hr at the least. They seemed more busy with their online orders than dine in customers at the time. Took forever to get any service, check, etc. Crying tiger meat was too dry/bland and dipping sauce was lacking any real flavor/depth. Tom Yum was light tasting and honestly, lighter tasting than the jar paste version you can whip up yourself with just some water. Pad see ew lacked flavor as well. Needs more heat in the wok, no char on the noodles and def needs more soy sauce/dark soy sauce. They also don't serve any beer here so expect it to be a long dinner. The location looks like it used to be an ice cream shop or something so don't expect much for decor. No idea why this place has the rating it does because as a Thai/Lao person, I'm offended that they chose to cater to the local bland taste buds vs making authentic Thai food but that's why they aren't in Thai town.Nothing served looked anything like the pictures or remotely close btw

Both of us were craving thai food and we were in the area so we stopped by here after searching on yelp. It was a Friday night and there was not wait. We got the crispy pork (which was too gamey imo and a bit stale; I couldn't finish it), green curry with chicken, and my fav northern Thai dish: Khao Soi. Green curry was good and rich in flavor; khao soi was decent too but tasted different from other places.

(Tookout 05/16/24 TH @ 5:00pm): This Thai kitchen had me coming back for seconds! Thanks to an earlier Yelp Elite event that introduced me to Mee Dee Thai Kitchen, I decided to make another trip since I was working in the area. I loved Thai cuisine (spicier the better!) and would eat it every day if I could. My first visit left a favorable impression on me, so why not give them another shot and explore their menu further? Would "me" be delighted with other options from this Mid-City/Westside Thai kitchen!?PURCHASEVegan Curry Puff ($5.75): Filled with mushrooms, caramelized onions and potatoes, all hand-wrapped in a flaky puff pastry, this hand-sized empanada was steaming hot and aromatic when I split it open https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=WJhNodbVx8SDtUG-q9NCEQ to reveal its goodness. Flavorful, but I wished it was spicier while the pastry had a light butteriness to it. I enjoyed it although it was certainly more expensive than your comparable empanada. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=sAnpEmilJY9GEei6yKNHbATom Yum Chicken Wings 4pc ($12.95): Lightly-battered fried chicken wings tossed in dry Tom-Yum seasoning, each piece was juicy, plump, and had a crazy crispy crackling skin reminiscent of Kentucky Fried Chicken's extra crispy chicken back in the day. There was a hint of spiciness, but it was the skin that truly won me over! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=4SOyGRHUclCeym8-9pmQoAKrapow Chicken w/Fried Egg ($16.95): A mix of ground chicken, onion, bell peppers, and long beans all tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce, served with rice and a crispy fried egg, this was a decently-portioned lovely bowl of fresh ingredients with enough sweet and spiciness throughout. The fried egg was a nice touch, but I wished the yolk was more wet, and the rice was unusual to me (I would've been fine with simple steamed white rice). Otherwise, this was a nice meal. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=NBHgBPiWctQnYW1z0KsFOQSERVICEI was greeted by a warm woman behind the counter. I already knew what I wanted to order, so once I placed that, she kindly offered me a glass of water while I waited. About fifteen minutes later, my food was packaged up and ready to go. Everything was simple and straightforward - khàawp khun kráp!PARKING (FREE)No lots to speak of whatsoever. There appeared to be plenty of street parking along the main drag of La Brea Ave. and all surrounding streets (I parked a block away and walked it) - 'nuff said.ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCEA bright clean simple layout with several dining tables inside along with a handful of stools at the bar while there appeared to be a communal outdoor area shared with a next door business. Decorations were kept to a minimum. Plenty of natural lighting came in through the large glass windows and doors while electric recessed ceiling lights and basket-looking fixtures https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=OK8MULOX-u0fsnNJsVDBEw filled in the rest. There were several TVs only at the bar https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=zoKbHUvmRCG6EC0TjToUVw while pop music played in the background. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=0&select=_PPQ_5ftFR1sGzRfDNLgSgATTIRETotally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops.OVERALLMy second meal from Mee Dee Thai KItchen was just as good as the first time, and I definitely would consider another visit if I were in the area (frankly, it's not as convenient for me just to go). Personally, I liked my Thai food more on the "dirty" side which provided me with a more perceived authenticity; whereas, I felt their food was more elevated and "cleaner". Regardless, it all still tasted great. I loved the food, I found the prices to be reasonable although maybe a tad elevated, and the service was efficient and friendly. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL would-be paid experience was around $39.00 BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

Where has this been all my life? It's been a long time since I had a meal that really wow'ed me the way that Mee Dee did! Everything was so flavorful and rich. I must go back!I arrived close to 7 with a friend on a Tuesday night and the restaurant was nearly empty. It filled up quickly though as time went on. Everything looks amazing on the menu but we went with the Tom yum fries, khao soi with beef, and mee dee pad Thai. The portions were pretty big. The two of us shared everything but we couldn't finish and had to take a lot of leftovers home. PAD THAI:My friend said this was probably the best pad Thai he's ever had. This was for sure the best pad Thai that I've had in a long time. It came with a decorative egg net on top which I thought looked neat but didn't add anything flavor-wise. The noodles were insanely bouncy and full of flavor. We opted for "mee dee style" which includes both chicken and shrimp, according to the menu. Ours also had pork, which is something I don't normally eat. I tried it anyway and this was some of the crispiest, juiciest pork I've tried. I don't think you need to order it mee dee style tho. Just one protein will do. Overall, the pad Thai was definitely on the sweeter side but definitely delicious!KHAO SOI with braised beef skank:This was my first time trying khao soi and I was blown away. The beef was impossibly tender and the broth was rich and deeply satisfying. Order it!Tom yum fries: Ordered these because of recommendations on Yelp. They were bold and limey. We got them "mild" and they had the slightest spice to them. Mango sticky rice: Solid. I am a mango sticky rice maniac and I loved it. The mango was fresh and sweet. Although I tend to prefer a saucier mango sticky rice, I had no complaints. All of the food came out really quickly! But after the food came, service was quite slow. Regardless, I loved every bite and I will be back!

Came here after LACMA Jazz Night and this was one of the only places still open on a Sunday. I got the seafood tom yum soup, which was good. Came back a second time and got khao soi, which was so fire! I didn't love the crunchy noodles all bunched up because it just melted into stale noodle in the soup, but other than that it was great. A little smaller of a portion which was fine with me because it's so rich. Staff are always super sweet and attentive!

Get the Tom Yum Fries and thank me later!Hands down the best thing on the menu. And you can really tell by my photo since my friends couldn't keep their hands off of it for the photo. I first learned about this place through a yelp event and I'm so grateful that it brought this restaurant into our lives. My friends and I love this as one of our favorite Thai spots in LA!It's a great family owned and run business. Finding parking on La Brea is not typically that hard. There's tables inside and outside. If you sit outside, they have heaters. We got there at 6pm on a Sunday and the place was completely empty. By the time we left at 7, the place was completely full and people were waiting for tables! I'm so happy to see this yummy small business thrive! You know I'll be back soon! (I once ate here twice in one week... no shame)

My sister discovered this spectacular Thai place after a fun evening out around the area. The family entered the restaurant's patio with our dogs in the evening. It is right across an Irish pub, so we had to navigate around a crowd watching the Dodgers game (maybe don't go around a sports game if that's not for you).We were served by some friendly staff that took our orders and gave us recommendations along with condiments you do need to request. Everything we ordered was absolutely pristine:Tom Yum Chicken Wings (a greasy, spicy, and super flavorful fave)Chicken Satay (lighter and best with peanut sauce)Papaya Salad with Crispy Pork (great mix of freshness with succulent fatty pork)Khao Soi Braised Beef Shank (AMAZING broth xoxo)Krapow Chicken with Fried Egg + Butterfly Pea Rice (THE BEST rice dish ever!!! I adore the pairing of eggs, chicken, and rice)I'm absolutely taking every person I know to this place! The service, ambiance, food, and price reasonability are nearly perfect!!!

Delicious modern Thai dishes. We ordered few items like Seafood Tom Yum, fried rice, Pad Thai and sticky rice for dessert. Everything was satisfying, very tasty. The location is perfect for restaurant hopping. So many other excellent food places along the same street. Parking can be a hassle. Street parking is an option. Lady staff was nice.
