Disappointing. Now I have loved Mandarette over the years as it has demonstrated stay power despite the ups and downs of the times. I have seen famous people dining here like Annette Bening and Warren Beatty and on another occasion, Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman so it can't be that bad right? well this time it wasn't that great.1-fish with black bean sauce***, made to order was okay, not great but not bad. Better at Full Moon House2-Mandarette House fried rice***, similar to 1, not great but not bad.3-Har gao. * too much like what you might find in your frozen section of Trader Joe's and tiny. 4-Pan fried pork dumpling** basically taking their Xiao Long Bao and pan frying it. The rice covering is too thick, not even close to Din Tai Fung. 5-war won ton soup** the won tons are mushy coverings with unidentifiable inners. the broth tasted okay. Chicken mushy or rubbery. Shrimp was mushy as well. Way better at Full Moon House. 6-pan fried string beans** too soft veggies with strong juice. Better at Bao. This is a reminder why I go way more to Bao than here as well as make the trek to Chinatown or just down to Capital Seafood.

Whelp. Sad to say, after so many years, Mandarette no longer cares about allergies, Celiac etc. New management has taken over and I've ordered twice, trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. I've gotten horribly sick both times. Come to find out, they no longer take gluten free seriously-woks and fryers are now shared and the food is just not the same. Sad to see this happen. They were such a safe place for so many, for so long!

The buzz is gone, but the food is still good. And the menu is full of items you will never find at a normal Chinese restaurant. Also... service's excellent!!!

This is my first negative rating in all my years of getting orders from Mandarette. They are now using "robots" to deliver food. Instead of stacking food containers in small bags and keeping them vertical they are placing them sideways. My $100+ order leaked through the bag and was a dripping mess. All f my item lost sauces and very expensive soft shell crabs were crushed and crumbled!! I won't be ordering from Mandarette again because of this horrible packaging issue. It's a shame to have wasted my hard earned money.

Haven't been here in four years and the food is still delicious as always. We came very early so it wasn't busy but the service was great.

Always five stars. Mandarette is a staple in my go to dinner spots. I always order the won ton soup which is unmatched, egg noodles with chicken, and chocolate won tons. Don't sleep on this spot! They are the best Chinese food around.

In the 15+ years I've been eating at the Mandarette Cafe I have never had a disappointment. Last night was no exception. The filet of sole in ginger cilantro sauce was delicious as were the appetizers Har GAO, pancakes and green beans in garlic sauce.I'm in Burbank now but have no problem heading over the hill.

This is hands down one of the best Chinese food spots I have EVER had--if not THE best! Coming from NY, I never felt like any Chinese food places in LA really met my standards, but I was completely blown away by this place. The menu is extensive, and the portions are generous. I'll definitely be telling all my local friends about this gem!

Ordered here for the 1st time on New Year's Ave, 1st problem, when ordering, the person never asked if i wanted a small order or large order. When i got their to pay, my meal was over $100 as I was not aware there were different size orders and they rang me up for all large sizes. 2nd problem, Then I get home, and look at what was supposed to be beef broccoli and spicy garlic sauce. Where is the sauce? This was the most plain and nasty tasting beef and broccoli I've ever had, and to charge me over $20 for that crap. It's as if they just put my beef and broccoli in water. Never again. Fool me once and I learn.

We have been visiting Mandarette Chinese Cafe since 20 years ago, feel like back home each time recently. The waitress always remember our favorite drink, dishes are so yummy, this time we ordered Lobster Noodles, General Tsao's Chicken and Snow Pea Sprouts, they are best in town. No wonder it receives review as 10 Best Chinese restaurant in Los Angeles. Sitting in with the high ceiling dining hall with traditional decoration, Enjoy delicious food, along with Asian music we felt Immerse yourself in the distant traditional Chinese culture...
