This was a bummer. I used to go there a lot in the past, and visit the roof top bar numerous times but the restaurant is not what it used to be.The food is not more than 3 stars, the service is pretty much non existing, and there is no vibe or ambiance at all.We set for more than 20 minutes before the server came for the first time and everything was a wait - the drinks, the food, even waited to pay and had to go to one of the managers to pay the overpriced bill. Can't say anything good about this restaurant

Everything was delicious for our party except for the fish tacos I ordered. Brussels sprouts and Caesar salad were great, and other people liked their burgers and other kinds of tacos. The fish tacos seemed more like fish sticks. For the west coast a very poor showing. The reason this is only 3 stars is that after the first persons meal was brought to the table it took almost 10 minutes for the final order to come out. It was a hot dog. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I think everyone's food should be brought my to the table at the same time. We went at 5 pm and it wasn't busy. I think it's weird for one person to get their meal and eat in front of the rest of our group, and almost be done by the time the last meal arrives. I have plenty of restaurant experience and I thought it was a poor showing.

Cool spot to grab some breakfast. My husband and I stopped with a group from work. Our server was polite and attentive to our group of 10. I had the California breakfast that was toast, eggs, bacon and avocado. My plate was good and tasted very fresh. Also, the orange juice tasted fresh.Nice choice for the area and I'll def go back if in the area.

Mama Shelter Rooftop is ALWAYS a good time. I went during Halloween weekend and the DJ was AMAZING!! To get to the rooftop, there's an elevator and there's security that is checking ID and ensure that there's no weapons. There was a bar upstairs and there are ample couches to relax and dance around. The rooftop is pretty big, there were a lot of guests upstairs. Again, the DJ was great. I wish I got his name but he was playing reggae and afro beats and this Haitian girl was CONTENT. There's a bar downstairs. I didn't get to eat but the food choices look amazing so my friends and I are going to have brunch there one weekend.

Came here for a friend's birthday celebration. It was great. We had reservations, so it was easy to walk up & get seated. The staff was friendly & accommodating. We were a party of 8. The environment is very inviting and pretty. There was always something to look at and to discuss while waiting for our drinks. We got served in a timely manner. The live dj was playing all the late 90s - early 2000's music. It set the tone for our night. The food was delicious. My husband had lamb ribs. It was rich and savory. Our only issue was it wasn't enough because it was so delicious. I had the Snapper. It was good as well. I really enjoyed the sauce that was poured over it. I had the cream de lima drink. It was ok. My husband enjoyed it more. Overall I give this place an 8/10. After dinner, we went to the rooftop lounge. Thia was nice. Pretty viewa & fresh air. Some people were dancing, but the majority of people stood around talking. This was a nice touch for after dinner.

Summary: 4 stars for good vibes, drinks, and food for rooftop and fancy restaurant only; a bit chaotic figuring out the operations*** I once popped my head into Mama Shelter on a Saturday at 5pm. My friend and I passed on waiting over an hour to visit the rooftop bar. The staff seemed friendly though. In fall 2022, I returned midweek for a work dinner. I was pleasantly surprised by the positive experience. Mama Shelter is apparently a hotel, a rooftop bar, a downstairs bar with a casual restaurant, and a fancy restaurant. I think the menus are different across each wing, but the website doesn't really explain this. Additionally, reservations appear to be for the fancy restaurant only. Since it's popular, the rooftop capacity is managed closely by the staff. After stepping out of the elevator, I was not allowed to proceed past the host until everyone in my party had arrived. The vibes were nice on the roof, with colorful patio decorations, outdoor furniture, and live music. Skyscrapers, high rise apartments, and flashy hotels twinkled in the distance. At the rooftop bar, I tried the charcoal drink. It was strong, slightly sweet, and aesthetic. I forget the name, but I think it had something to do with getting run over by a lawn mower (fun!). The price was probably around $18-20 based on the restaurant cocktail menu.We eventually moved downstairs to the fancy restaurant for our reservation. Overall, I enjoyed the dinner menu's fusion of different cuisines and ingredients. My memory is fuzzy, so I don't have as many comments on the individual dishes. But I recall our server being courteous and quick.SMALL PLATES ORDERED- Housemade Rolls ($9 - garlic, rosemary, butter). They were good, but... they're dinner rolls.- Croquettes ($17 - chorizo and salsas). Also good.- Corn Cheese. I don't see this on the menu anymore, but it was good. Like a Korean corn cheese with lots of mayo and cheese.ENTREES ORDERED- Braised Short Rib ($46 - tteokbokki rice cakes, kabocha, pumpkin seed, jalapeno). While presentation was messy, the dish was tasty and the meat was tender.- Wagyu Rib Cap ($47 - shishito and bell peppers, confit potato, soubise onion sauce). The steak was tender and delicious.- We also ordered some sort of poultry. It might have been chicken or quail, but it doesn't sound like the Roasted Half Chicken on the current menu. The dish tasted good, and its delicate plating was the most attractive.SWEETS ORDERED- Sticky Toffee Pudding ($15 - figs, toffee sauce, earl grey ice cream). I loved this dessert! - Housemade Ice Cream ($10 for 3 scoops). Our server recommended the berry sorbet, but I thought the flavor was pretty standard. The chocolate and strawberry were just okay, with an icy texture. The ice creams were especially disappointing after having tried the toffee pudding.

We had stayed in the Marriott next door so Mama's Kitchen was a perfect choice for breakfast. Greg was a wonderful waiter - so friendly and attentive. My husband had a fruit plate that was artfully presented. I had the California breakfast which was eggs, avocado, bacon and toast. The strawberry jam was absolutely delicious. Our breakfast was topped off with fresh orange juice and the coffee was out of this world. I love a good cup of coffee!!!This place is a winner with outstanding service and food.
