This is getting 5 stars because it's chaotic in terms of the many dining patrons, delicious dim sum, and fairly smooth service. The highlight of course is the dim sum. Delicious! So good! You select the dim sum from a digital menu on your phone once you scan their QR code after being seated. The push-cart madness is --non-existent here. So less stress on the waiters. Less stress on you too. Just wait for your order to arrive and enjoy! The staff. Super stressed and running around BUT, this is normal for a dim sum establishment. Get ready for a little culture shock for those unfamiliar with this :). The level of which the servers were able to accommodate 'unnecessarily overly-concerned' patrons was impressive. Even if you dont think you're being given the 5-star treatment, know that things move so much faster here for them than you can understand. You being served is all they have time to do. :)Back to the food. You can't go wrong. A little trick I do --is I order more than I can eat-- that way I can take some home in a box rather than re-order more dim sum. Hats off to this dim sum chain. They know what they're doing!

Food is ok--not bad but definitely not noteworthy or something I'd go back for a second time. As someone who grew up in the area and this type of food, I can say this place is definitely not going to last--so many better options in the SGV.But the 1 star isn't for food; it's for service. They spilled food on my wife twice!!! Not just a tiny bit; we're talking full length side of her shirt to pants. Both times they were bringing it to other tables so that was just extreme carelessness. First time it was hot soup with chili oil (for those not familiar, this is a horrible stain, not to mention the food temp); second time it was a bit of noodles. Their responses: for the soup, a smattering of "Sorry!" Noodles, not even a word. Plenty of servers and floor people saw but no manager came by; nothing was offered except for some napkins. She wasn't seated weirdly; we didn't do anything to incur the wrath of the servers. We didn't even make a scene when it happened (long story). This was very much a test of how the restaurant reacts when no one's looking or causing a ruckus that forces them to act "gracefully." I think they failed miserably; what about you?Maybe this is why their food is lackluster--they don't care about their customers or respect the food enough to handle and serve it properly (both dishes were served to the tables immediately afterwards!).

I like this location over the Pasadena location. It doesn't have that tired rushed touristy feel. It's good for dim sum at the "not dim sum" hours. Cuz, you know, sometimes I want dim sum at other times besides Sunday afternoon. The siu mai are large! Almost double the size you might find on the yum cha cart, so order proportionally. You can also order in multiples: 4, 6, 10, pieces for some items like sui mai and har gow. They use a QR code for the menu and ordering, so, contact with waitstaff is limited. They are there of course to tend to you: bring tea, condiments, etc. but they do not take your order. They are attentive and responsive.I guess with this method of ordering, each person can order and pay for themselves, which may eliminate that fight that always occurs when the bill comes. Otherwise, one person will have to do all the ordering on their phone and be the one getting the bill.Place is nice, clean, and they have a couple private dining rooms.I found street parking, but I think there is a garage just behind them that is shared between residents and visitors of the multi use building. It may not be the ultimate dim sum experience, but it hits the spot and tastes great. We usually get: sui mai, har-gow, pork bao, diakon, and noodle rolls. The only time I've been disappointed with Lunasia was at the Pasadena location when they once ran out of some items. If Pasadena wasn't closer to me, I'd go to this location instead.

My friend recommended to meet for dim sum at Lunasia in Alhambra. This is my first visit and I'm impressed by the fast service. Not to mention they are in Michelin Guide. We were seated right away and hot tea followed shortly after. Big city like Los Angeles is so ahead of the game. We order the dim sum from our phone after scanning the QR code. Quick, easy and convenient. I do have to say that I miss the ladies pushing the cart around. Food was excellent! They used big shrimp for the har gow. The sticky rice was favorite and came out steamy hot. Everything we had was delicious. I wish I had more room in my stomach to try more things.Highly recommended!

Lunasia was a disappointment for me. It was very packed, however, service was extremely slow, and I've been to packed dimsum spots who are able to serve faster. Additionally, they forgot a few of our items, and after multiple reminders, we asked them to cancel, but turns out the items FINALLY came out. My favorite items were the sesame balls with red bean and the shrimp/scallop dumpling with the squid ink wrapper. The other items I had were very average. I'm not sure if I would come back here again, knowing how many other dimsum spots there are around LA.

We arrived an hour before closing and I could tell the wait staff didn't want anymore customers. No problem as we only ordered a couple of items for dinner. We ordered the steamed BBQ pork bao, kung pao chicken, and shrimp fried rice. They also brought us a tea pot which was an additional four bucks. The food came out fairly quickly and it was so good and you could tell everything was fresh.

I've been here three times when I've come to L.A. But the reason why I keep coming back is the Siu Mai with Truffle, it's to die for. It's amazing and the best thing on the menu in my opinion.I've tried other dishes on the menu, which are great as well. I like that there are some unique spins on traditional dishes. I have a friend who is allergic to seafood, so the Chicken & Corn Siu Mai was a great option for her. It was not my favorite, but I like the concept. This restaurant seems to be busy more often than not and parking is limited in the tiny garage, but you can easily find street parking nearby.

The Yang Chow fried rice was an absolute standout--perfectly cooked rice, loaded with savory goodness, and just the right touch of wok hei that made it irresistible. It's easily one of the best versions we've had.Next up was the tripe, which was a fragrant masterpiece. The generous use of ginger infused every bite with a warm, aromatic flavor, making it a dish to savor. Even if you're not typically a fan of tripe, this might just change your mind! The star of the show, though, had to be the steamed chicken with ginger and green onion sauce. Tender and juicy. Every bite was pure comfort food bliss. The interior is a good blend of restaurant and traditional banquet hall. Service is what you'd expect at a dim sum spot. Quick and efficient.

Came here around 1:30. The place was busy but winding down for the late afternoon. They have a waitlist on Yelp so make sure you sign up because they get busy like most dim sum places. You order through the QR code at the table. They had a good selection. Prices are a little higher but I felt like the dim sum pieces were bigger. Bathrooms are clean and service was prompt. But I also think it was because the crowd was winding down. Parking structure in the back of the resturant shared with the other businesses. Would defiantly go back.Overall 4.2/5

Even the best restaurants have their off days, and today it happened to be Lunasia's turn. We have eaten here a dozen times and this is the first time where several of the dishes were subpar. The Peking duck, which is not a cheap dish, was overcooked and dry. We could tell right away by the color (dark brown instead of golden) that it was going to taste burnt. The rice noodles with pork did not have the usual silky texture, but instead was rough and the pork inside was also overcooked. Finally, the beef noodle dish was mostly filled with sprouts, rather than beef or noodles. Again, this seemed like an off day for the chef and is not indicative of the usual quality of the food here.
