This place is worth the 45 min drive from LA! The best katsu I've recently tried. Everything we ordered (Cheese Katsu, Hire Katsu, Katsu Sando, Tteokbboki) was really good. Highly recommend getting the Cheese Katsu and Katsu Sando! There is a big parking lot right outside of the restaurant.

I tried the Tonkatsu Meal, which includes katsu pork, rice, cabbage salad, and miso soup. The katsu was tender with a perfectly crispy batter, adding a nice crunch to each bite. The menu is a bit on the pricier side, but the portions make it worth it!The waiter was friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was pretty spacious and well lit.

I was in the area and found this place while searching for dinner options. We reached around 6:15pm. We were greated and seated right away. Ambiance and decor is really nice. The server brought us the regular menu, their limited menu and drink/ desert menu. The chef asked us how we were doing and also answered few questions we had about the menu. Unfortunately, they didn't have cheese Katsu that we were looking forward to try. My kids picked Ton Katsu and Hire Katsu and I ordered Katsu Don. When we got the food we knew we had to take a picture! The food came out beautiful, and it tasted delicious. They even gave my son some extra jalapeño/ garlic sauce to devour the few last katsu bites! We were so happy and satisfied that we picked this location for dinner. Just a tip: It started getting really busy after 6:30pm so if you would like to beat the rush hour, arrive little early to get started for dinner.

Another Yelp Elite had recommended Lucky Pig during a Yelp event, and I finally found myself in Whittier to try it! It is located in an unassuming shopping plaza, but parking as a result is plentiful. The interior is quite small with only a handful of tables (plus two outdoor tables) and a bar/counter. The menu is also straightforward with a single page of items. Service was very friendly and attentive throughout. We ordered the regular tonkatsu (more fatty) plus the hire katsu (more lean and juicy) sets, which came with rice, miso soup, shredded cabbage salad, and a house-made spicy salsa. We also added an onset egg to one set for $3 extra. To drink, there were several Mexican bottled sodas available plus some other choices, and I ordered the Matcha Yuzu Ade. I was expecting a matcha yuzu lemonade, but the drink was actually carbonated with matcha + yuzu + Sprite. I don't care for carbonated drinks so this drink was a big disappointment for me, so be forewarned! The food however was scrumptious and very reasonably priced (less than $20 a set as of February 2025). If I'm back next time perhaps I'll try their omurice or noodles.

Words cannot explain how amazing this place is. It was my first time trying this place as my friend heavily recommended it. Upon entering, it was decorated nicely inside with lots of plants. They were also playing lots of great Japanese city pop which my friends and I enjoyed. It was also my first time trying Omurice and it was out of this world. It was packed with so much flavor and even the consistency of everything was nailed perfectly. The Katsu Ball was a nice addition although I do wish the Katsu was cut and served as it normally is because then it would've been a little easier to eat with the Omurice. The food came out pretty fast and was even plated beautifully. Overall, I try a lot of food places and this might've been some of the best food I've ever had. I can't wait to come back again!

Yes, it's Japanese fusion and it's amazing! Living in Whittier, we're limited to tacos, burritos, or burgers. Needed my Asian food fix. Going to the Lucky Pig was a great experience I had to try different things last night so ordered the Omurice, Tonkatsu, and the oysters for appetizer. Wow, it did not disappoint. Even though the menu is limited, it's a great selection. The waitress that we had was very attentive, helpful and always asked if we were good. I appreciate that kind of service. The restaurant was small but very bright and clean. Simple statement without the fuss. I would definitely go back again and I recommend to anyone to give this place a try.

A great place to eat at if you love tonkatsu! It was decently busy on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. The restaurant looked very clean and gave off a nice diner vibe. The staff were very friendly, consistently coming around to ask if we needed anything. For food, we got the Ton Katsu, the Kimchi-jeon, and the Tagliatelle alla Bollognese. The Ton Katsu was very soft and juicy with a strong flavor that paired well with the sauce that was provided. The outside was perfectly crunchy , but not too hard either. It came with miso soup, salad, and rice as well. The kimchi-jeon was nice and crispy with a prominent kimchi flavor. A great appetizer to start with before the meal. The pasta was also very delicious with the noodles perfectly cooked and a nice meaty sauce. However, the portion size was a little small. Overall, this is a wonderful place to try and will definitely be coming back to try their other menu options!

Lucky Pig is a very casual dining experience. Parking is plentiful as the restaurant is located in a plaza. Extremely friendly and wonderful customer service. Menu is small and straightforward. We ordered the ton katsu, hire katsu, omurice, and Korean pancake. All yummy! If you're debating between getting the ton or hire katsu, I'd personally recommend the ton katsu as the meat has more fat and juicy. Highly recommend trying Lucky Pig!

I've been wanting to try this place for awhile but it's a bit of a drive. My husband said it was worth the drive though! The place is on the smaller side but the service was quick and friendly. The food was amazing! Really enjoyed the cheese katsu and kaki furai (fried oyster). We definitely will be coming back.

I came here for a weeknight dinner with a friend and was surprised to find the place bustling with a steady stream of customers. However, after eating the food here, I can say I am definitely not surprised as to why Lucky Pig is busy - it's a phenomenal katsu place with a very affordable menu.I ordered the regular katsu plate with a side of curry. The pork itself is very juicy and delicately breaded and fried. Sometimes low-quality pork will be very dry and have a gamey smell, but this was not the case here. The dipping sauce complemented the juicy pork very well, as did my side order of curry. I also devoured my side salad which was tossed in an amazingly umami sesame dressing. The star of the show was actually their special pepper relish. Tangy and bright, it paired well with the heartiness of the pork katsu and refreshed my palate throughout the meal.At the end, my friend and I split the yuzu panna cotta and it was one of the best panna cottas I've had. I'm not sure if Lucky Pig uses a special brand of milk for it, but it was amazingly creamy and sweet, while the yuzu sauce drizzled on top kept it fresh.I'd love to come back to get the katsu again and even try the omurice next time.
