This place is better than it looks. I initially found the orange shade (instead of more traditional light brown) of the pineapple buns to be off-putting, but the texture and taste of the bread is actually very good. The bread is flavorful and doughy enough, not like some other places where the bread is too airy with no substance or taste. The dim sum is also surprisingly good. I typically find take-out only cheap dim sum to be far below restaurant quality. However, the dim sum here was definitely not just take-out quality. I wonder if they source it from the same manufacturers the big restaurants do, or if they make their own. I ate in the car on the way out for a road trip, so everything was fresh and warm without needing to be reheated. Forks and napkins were provided.

Long's Family Pastry has a simple storefront with a few tables for dine-in customers. The interior is clean and well-maintained, with a casual and relaxed atmosphere. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring that customers have a pleasant experience. The bakery is known for its fast service, making it a great option for a quick bite. The food is praised for its good price and quality, making it a popular choice among locals. The sesame balls are a favorite among customers, and the Shui mai come highly recommended. These sweet, deep-fried pastries are coated with sesame seeds and filled with a delicious red bean paste. The exterior is crispy and golden, while the interior is soft and chewy, making for a perfect balance of textures. Shui mai, on the other hand, is a savory dim sum favorite. These open-faced dumplings are filled with a mixture of pork and shrimp, seasoned with various spices and wrapped in a thin wonton wrapper. The dumplings are then steamed to perfection, resulting in a juicy and flavorful bite. Shui mai is often garnished with a bit of roe on top, adding a touch of color and extra flavor. Both the sesame balls and shui mai are highly recommended at Long's Family Pastry, offering a delightful combination of sweet and savory options for dim sum lovers. If you're ever in Chinatown, be sure to try these delicious treats!

I don't usually go here for my pastries, but it's good to try a new place and have options. I love that they open 7am. My favorite here is the egg tart and their custard buns.

Excellent Chinese bakery. This is the place to come for when you want traditional mooncakes! It's also great for fresh dim sum, baked pork buns and miscellaneous Chinese pastries. I also love their milk teas. My one complaint is that parking is very cramped and there is no direct access from the parking lot to the shop. Minor inconvenience for cheap, delicious Chinese bakery goodies.

One of my favorite spots in all of Chinatown.Long's Family Pastry serves dim sum to-go at really affordable prices. Their menu is extensive as they have practically everything you could imagine related to dim sum. I also think they are one of the only places in Chinatown that serves fresh pineapple buns. There are no tables -- just grab and go. Service is always really fast. They take credit card over a certain amount (I think $10). Most of the popular dim sum items are around $1 a piece. Pastries are around $1.50.Some of my favorite items were the egg tarts and joong (sticky rice or Chinese tamale). When I am in the area I will always try to make it here!

I used to come here as a kid during trips on the weekend to Chinatown. It's been over a decade, but I recently rediscovered this bakery. It is still sooo good and such a great value. It is definitely more popular now with a line out the door sometimes.Must haves are the baked char siu buns ($1.75), pineapple buns ($1.30) and custard buns ($1.55). I haven't tried the snow skin buns, but they're definitely on my list for next time. Char siu buns are one of the best I have had; flavor of the filling is on point and the bun is perfect crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside.I also like to pick up some almond cake ($0.90) and rice cakes ($1.10). These are a bit too sweet. I have had better of these elsewhere, but they are a rare find in SoCal, and these are good enough to satisfy the craving.Street parking with a pay meter or if you're quick to run in and out, you can probably get away with parking for free at the parking lot for Mama Lu's restaurant across the street.Card is accepted here on purchases over $10. Friendly and quick service! They are always willing to accommodate when I need things packed separately (I usually get 3-4 boxes of pastries to share with friends and family). I wish we had one of these bakeries closer to OC!

I regularly visit this bakery to get baked goods for workplace parties. They offer a variety of dim sum and bakery items at reasonable prices. Although metered street parking is available, the wait is typically short once inside the bakery. I recommend visiting this bakery when visiting Chinatown.

I needed to pick up a quick breakfast and Long's Family Pastry was one of the few places open at 7 AM in the morning. Also, a lot of parking meter don't start until 8 in the morning so this worked out for free parking. When I arrived, there was a couple of people a head of me in line but the line went quickly. I picked up a couple of items. I got sui mai, coconut cream bun, and baked bbq pork bun. The sui mai was charge per piece. Everything I ordered came out to less than five bucks. This was such a good deal. I love the coconut cream bun. I wish I had this closer to my house so I can pick up all these yummy eats before work. This place has a lot of options. They have your savory and sweet options. Everything was fresh early in the morning. Overall, check this place out if you are cravings for a quick and fast Chinese bake goods. I would be back whenever I am in the area.

This spot has decent prices, with baked goods ranging from $1-$2 and Chinese tamales for $5. I really enjoyed the walnut cookie, and the shiu mai was very good--not too fatty. The har gow was a bit doughy, but the shrimp filling was tasty. The egg tart was nicely flaky. There was a bit of a line outside, but service moved quickly. The area can feel a little sketchy with some homeless people around, but overall, I'd still come again!

This place offers a wide variety of delicious pastries and dim sum. We ordered 3 orders of shiu mai, shrimp hagau, 3 steam buns, one egg tart, one coconut custard bun, 1 Chinese fried donut, 5 sesame balls, and 1 Thai iced tea. I think that was it and it all costed around $30. There is a $10 minimum for using a credit card. Everything we had was very good and fresh. They ran out of the pork steamed buns though. When we got there, they only had the speciality steamed buns with egg, chicken, and Chinese sausage. The Thai tea was already made and packed, and it was on the sweeter side but still good. Overall, we are happy to have found this place and plan on stocking up on some delicious pastries and dim sum when we visit LA China Town.
