My family is from New Orleans, I love this place! The poboys are delicious, the jambalaya hits the spots, and normally I'm not a Mac and cheese person but theirs is SO GOOD! Additionally, you can buy all the great spices, hot sauces, and seasonings that are impossible to find otherwise!I have now convinced my coworkers to add it to our rotation of places to eat!

This can't be the same place everyone else is talking about. The majority of the reviews here are so high that I was really excited and looking forward to trying the food. I drove about 15 miles to get here, parked, and went inside. The guy working there, Shaggy, was super nice. I initially called to order ahead, and he let me know they were out of a bunch of things, like the gumbo. When I asked when they'd have it back, he said he wasn't sure. He said that once they run out of something, it depends on whenever the chef decides to make more and when. So, I told him I'd just come in to order, which I did. When I got there, Shaggy was helpful and gave me some suggestions. I ended up getting the craw mac and the jambalaya instead of what I originally wanted. I let him know it was my first time, and I was excited to try everything since I'm a big foodie. Having lived in the South, I was looking forward to tasting something that reminded me of home.Unfortunately, I've never been more disappointed with a place. Based on the reviews and photos, everything I got looked and tasted completely different from what I expected. The craw mac was super bland, missing flavor entirely. Maybe the top had a little something, but the rest just tasted like plain craft type mac. The jambalaya was spicy, but it lacked any real flavor aside from that. It didn't even taste like I was eating jambalaya, and I love jambalaya. Granted, this could be their style? I suppose? but it didn't feel like the food everyone else was raving about. My order didn't even look like the photos I've seen on their Yelp.To top it off, I got charged double for my meal. They assured me I'd be refunded the next day, and if I wasn't, I could come back and let them know. I guess I'll wait and see, but the whole experience was just a mess. Honestly, it wasn't worth the trouble.Maybe they were having an off day, but this was such a disappointing experience for me. I paid over $30, and it just wasn't worth it.Oh, and for the record, the inside was pretty cool. The space had a lot of character, and they played great music. But overall, this review is mostly about how bland, disappointing, and blah the food was. I really don't know what happened, but it definitely didn't live up to the hype.

This place was a hit and can't wait to be back to try more. I recently stopped by Little Jewel of New Orleans in Chinatown, and it was such a unique spot with a cozy Southern charm that made the experience memorable. The inside vibes were immaculate super warm, inviting, and gave off that comfy, homey feel I was hoping for. Plus, I learned they recently opened a bar next door, which definitely gives me a reason to come back and check it out. I tried the beignets, a coffee au lait, and some red beans and rice. The red beans and rice were super savory, and the seasoning was on point. one of the closest flavors I've had to authentic New Orleans cooking here in California. However, the rice itself was a bit undercooked and hard, which took away from the experience slightly, but the beans were so flavorful they kept me wanting more. The beignets, though, were a bit underwhelming. They weren't as light and airy as they should be, and they leaned more towards a dense donut texture. Plus, they could have used more powdered sugar for that classic experience. Honestly, I think there are better beignets out there in California, like the ones at Disneyland, but that's just my take. One highlight was the cool Southern market-style selection they had. I picked up some albita beers, root beer, and even noticed they carried liquid crab boil seasoning, which is rare to find out here, definitely a gem for anyone craving authentic Southern ingredients. The service was also worth noting. The cashier was super friendly, walked us through the menu, and answered all our questions, which I really appreciated. While it was a bit pricey for what we ordered--around $45 for a coffee, beignet, red beans and rice, and some root beers--it was still a solid experience. Despite some minor food critiques, the atmosphere, seasoning, and unique Southern offerings will definitely bring me back for a full meal next time!

I grew up in New Orleans so when I found this place I was ecstatic. I had the shrimp Po boy and it was genuinely delicious. I cant say it was completely the same as back home but it was dam close. I wish they had daiquiri's to. It was a good experience.

Came here on Sunday for lunch and there was plenty of seating! The interior decor was super cute with street signs from New Orleans. Everything js counter service so you grab a drink from their large variety of drink selection and order at the counter. I tried a pink ginger drink and it accompanied my crawmac deluxe perfectly!Speaking of the crawmac deluxe, I really enjoyed the generous amount of blackened shrimp I was given. I also appreciate the cornbread that came piping hot, tho it was a bit dry for me. I also think there could've been more crawfish - I felt I was eating more shrimp than crawfish most of the time. Not pictured is their beignet that I also tried. Unfortunately, this was a bit of a miss for me. The dough was really dense for some reason instead of airy like the usual beignets I've tried. Not sure if it's a different kind? Overall, I enjoyed this place and would come back again to try their other entrees!

This place was featured in a Buzzfeed video "Worth it" for the mac and cheese. My bf was craving mac and cheese so we decided to try this place out. This little gem is located in Chinatown, we went around 5 pm on a weekend and we had no trouble finding parking on the street. We ordered the :Fried Shrimp PO boy- Big enough to feed 2. Bf said this is one of the better PO boy he has had.Craw Mac Deluxe: This was the star of the show. Usually I am not a big fan of mac and cheese but this was so flavorful and delicious. It is a bit heavy so I would recommend sharing. At first, we were the only customers in the restaurant but later on, it pretty busy before closing.

This restaurant has been in Chinatown for the last 10 years and I just came across their page. I was undecided on what to eat for lunch and decided to check this place out. The ambiance and decor are really a vibe, there is also a small deli in the restaurant. The menu is huge! I decided on the Popcorn Shrimp plate which came with fries, 4 fried Hushpuppies and Coleslaw. It was okay, there wasn't anything that stood out when it comes to their flavor profile. I also ordered Beignet's which were too doughy for my taste. I imagined a light airy donut but, it felt more like a bagel and powdered sugar. I love the concept and their customer service is excellent! I would like to come back and try other items, their Mac n Cheese looks amazing. Definitely visit this small business when in downtown LA.

Not me realizing I only took one photo while I was there. Lol oh well. This spot has been on my list of wanting to try since 2021 (big Triple D fan). As an out to towner this spot isn't in the best of areas. But the food was very good! And the vibes were there. The girl who took our order was very nice. We ordered some things to share. Shrimp po boy was pretty good, the sauce and slaw cut the richness. Love the crawfish and cheese. I'd say that is a MUST get. Mozzarella sticks were good as well, and this is from a mozzarella stick expert. Overall it I'm in the area I would definitely go back.

Came here as a part of the second stop on our LA food crawl for the day after stopping by Philippe's down the street. My friend ordered the Crawmac deluxe which came out to be ~$18.50 with tax. The crawmac had some sort of tomato sauce mixed into the base and was topped with andouille sausage and snappy shrimp. The taste of the crawmac was delightful and when topped with some of the different varieties of hot sauces that they have on the tables throughout the business, created a phenomenal experience. Pro Tip: Check out their store on the left side of the business, they have a wide variety of different hot sauces and I was able to grab a bottle of Marie Sharp's to try for just $5.50.
