This is small restaurant in Chinatown that my mom orders a bunch of chive cakes to freeze and eat whenever she craves it. Service was good and food comes out quickly. We ordered the following to share:Beef stew with egg noodles soupChiu Chow Filet Fish Big Noodle SoupSeafood crispy noodlesBeef fried noodles with gravyCrab & Shrimp BallEverything was good. This is the type of food I grew up with and this place doesn't disappoint. Flavors were on point and we enjoyed every dish. It's no wonder they have been open since 1982. Amazing history and great tasting food.

I came here on an early Wednesday morning. I got two pho bowls #26. I asked for the larger size for me and topped it off with some glasses of water. When I went to pay the price was $25. I was like "WOW that's a good price! Better than pho 87's price." Just this morning I got a message saying my card tipped over 75%?? Now the price is $44? This place is shady. When I originally paid, it was $25. I signed a receipt and put a 0 on the tipped.

I have been coming here for over 30 years. I like both of their soup and stir fried rice noodle. Fish cake is also good.I only wish they use less MSG in their cooking.

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. I was visit g LA looking for a place to eat and I stubbled into this place off the street, it was tucked away in a little shopping center building. They had the most beautiful vibrant orange and red tiles along the store front. They had some seating outsides as well as inside. Mostly small tables, not more than 4 seats per table but you could push tables together if you have a bigger group. Their menu was extensive, and it all looked so good, but I decided on the mixed vegetable chow fun and it was the best chow fun I have ever had! All the vegetables were so fresh and it was the perfect level of salt and flavor. The noodles were also cooked to perfection and they didn't stick to one another. I LOVED THIS DISH. I highly recommend trying this place out! The staff were also very friendly and fast at cooking! I had no complaints about any aspect of my visit. If I am ever in LA again, I will be going out of my way to go back.

Wife and I drove out to LA for our first CicLAvia yesterday and while we certainly ate our way through the routes, we were both pretty much set on getting some proper, authentic Teochew/Cantonese food before ending our day out in LA!Growing up I always passed by this place as a kid whenever my parents would come out to Chinatown to visit my grandma. This place has been around since I was a kid, so the fact that they're still around means they've got to be doing something right and to that I can attest. Their food here is absolutely delicious, comforting, authentic, and reasonably priced. My wife and I ordered their beef chow fun - a classic, staple Cantonese dish and their Chiu Chow Special Noodle soup, another classic dish. The smell of wok hei lifting from the beef chow fun was the first thing I noticed. I instantly mmm'd at my first bite. A little bit on the sweet side considering the fact that this isn't really meant to be sweet at all, but I personally don't mind my food a bit sweet/savory. Each bite was smokey (from the wok hei), a little sweet, and salty. The beef was very tender too.The Chiu Chow noodle soup was comfort distilled into a piping hot bowl of deliciousness. The broth was clear and light, but still delivering a TON of flavor. I loved the assortment of fish cake, chicken meat, and imitation crab in the soup. It was the perfect contrast to our chow fun.Really glad my wife and I were finally able to stop in after all these years! We rarely come out to Chinatown, but honestly I can see us coming back again very soon - hopefully!

I initially had my heart set on Howlin' Rays, but the prospect of a long wait wasn't appealing that day. So, I decided to explore the plaza for other options, and when in Chinatown, why not indulge in some delicious Chinese cuisine?I stumbled upon Kim Chuy, and I'm so glad I did! The menu is impressively extensive, making it hard to choose, but I settled on the wonton noodle soup and a dish reminiscent of pad see ew. Both dishes were absolutely delightful, bursting with flavor and freshness. The wontons were perfectly tender, and the noodles had just the right amount of chew. To top it off, the chili sauce was a game-changer--definitely "fire"! Overall, my experience at Kim Chuy was fantastic, and I can't wait to return to try more dishes. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for great Asian food in the area!

Tons of great Chinese food options! My family ordered the # 34 Leek Cakes and # 48 Fried Chicken Dumplings. The Leek Cakes come with 4 Leek Cakes and sweet chili sauce for dipping. The Leek Cakes have tons of chopped leek pieces, and they're delicious with the sauce. The Fried Chicken Dumplings come with soy sauce for dipping. They're just your average chicken dumplings, but they still taste great! The employees are very nice and very fast. One of the employees spoke both English and Khmer! They bring your food in to-go boxes, containers, and bags if you sit outside in the strip mall. However, if you eat inside the restaurant, your food will come in regular plates and bowls. You also need to pay before eating. Both the restaurant and the seating in the strip mall are very clean. There's a menu on the outside tables and a QR code to scan for an online menu. There's also a menu on the windows. There's plenty of seating, and people can only sit at the tables if they're planning to eat here. I would eat here again! There's tons of items on the menu, employees are kind, and you have the choice to sit in a restaurant or sit outside and people-watch.

Recently I had a chance to stop by this long standing Chiu Chow restaurant (opened since 1982 and supposedly the home of the first Teochew aka Chiu Chow style restaurant in the United States) and the restaurant still has an outdoor seating section that was first created when COVID had started in 2020. A lot of eateries have come and go within this plaza like Chego!, Scoops, and BaoHaus, but Kim Chuy Restaurant is still here to stay.[Parking]: Street parking only, but free metered parking on Sunday and holidays. There's a parking lot right next to Far East Plaza, but it is $5 flat rate from Monday to Friday and $7 flat rate on Saturday and Sunday.[Amenity]: Need a quarter to access & use the restroom in Far East Plaza.[Ordering]: This is pretty much a take-out only restaurant (entrance has turned into an ordering counter) with enough outdoor tables to accommodate customers. After customers place their orders at the cashier counter, then they can enjoy their noodle bowl in plastic cups and wooden chopsticks.[Menu]: Their menu is probably the only thing that remains a steady constant. 9 different styles of noodle to choose from (thin/flat egg noodle, thick egg noodle aka fried noodle, medium noodle, triangle noodle, short rice noodle, flat rice noodle aka chow fun, rice vermicelli, and crispy noodle) and different fish balls/beef balls/seafood toppings.***#4 Special Seafood Flat Noodle ($13.95): Definitely a different vibe eating this noodle soup in a plastic bowl as opposed to a ceramic bowl. I had to pour soup from one plastic cup into another plastic cup with noodle & toppings. The noodle bowl still tasted pretty solid.***Still a solid spot to grab fairly savory noodle bowls in Chinatown, but customers may want to visit other Chiu Chow restaurants like Kim Ky Noodle House in San Gabriel for an actual dine-in experience.

Been here twice (gave it another shot) and both times it was extremely disappointing. The quality of the food is just subpar, even the reasonable prices aren't worth it. Most of the food we had had to be discarded. The meat used in several dishes has been oddly marinated and tenderized with something that makes them chewy almost gummy like (see pics). The broth is laden with msg which I am not opposed to but it is just too artificial and weirdly sweet. It is not a soothing broth. The long fried bread (yau tiau) was made ahead and it is chewy at room temperature. It is not freshly fried upon order. Some people enjoy this I personally did not. They also have trouble charging Apple Pay (the lady will take your phone to the back) which does not feel safe so be ready with your payment options. The service is okay however the food quality is absolutely abysmal.
