Great atmosphere. We were offered to sit at the bar if we wanted to be seated right away, and we took the offer. I think next time, I would want to sit in the beautiful dining room because the overall atmosphere is beautiful. We watched as the Sushi chefs at the bar work to put some stunning plates together. The service was average, maybe because we were seated at the bar. It was our first visit here, so we weren't quite sure what to order. For our appetizers, we ordered the Chicken Katsu Bites and Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice. We enjoyed them both!!! Our main dishes were the Katsuya roll and Corn Roll that came with miso soup. Both were average rolls. We did enjoy the contemporary atmosphere. I would definitely like to return with a larger crowd and try other dishes and take in the atmosphere. The hostesses deserve a shout out for being so kind and lovely.

We ordered three sushi sets, each including 4 spicy tuna crispy rice, 2 specialty rolls, and 12 pieces of sashimi. Since we ordered so much, it took a while to come out, but that's because the set is served all at once. For the specialty rolls, they typically give two assorted ones per set, but the staff accommodated us by making all six rolls different, so we got to try a good variety. The rolls were decent, and out of all of them, I enjoyed the Double Spicy Tuna Roll the most. The Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice had good flavor, but it wasn't as crispy as I'd like and could have used more spice. The assorted nigiri was okay--nothing standout--but the Scallop Sashimi was amazing. That's definitely my new favorite sashimi piece. The only thing I didn't enjoy was a roll wrapped in cucumber--it just wasn't my thing. We also ordered the Wagyu Ishiyaki (6 pieces of A5 Wagyu). It tasted exactly like what Wagyu is supposed to taste like--high fat content, super rich--but personally, I'm not a huge fan of Wagyu. I prefer American-style steak with more tenderness and less fat.Service was great--the staff was friendly and attentive, constantly refilling our waters and making small accommodations like customizing our rolls. Even small details stood out, like when I went to the restroom, they folded new napkins for me at my seat.Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would come back!

Right on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard sits this little gem! We decided to try the Katsuya Tasting so we could try multiple items. First came spicy tuna nigiri on crispy rice. The crunch of the rice truly accentuated the spicy tuna topping. Next came the Hokkaido Scallop sashimi, which was excellent. The delicate taste and texture of the scallops are highlighted in this dish. Next came thinly sliced Wagyu beef, which we cooked on a hot stone right at our table. Need I say more? And finally, the shirt ribs, which came in a mildly sweet, soy glaze. They were tender, flavorful, and downright sumptuous. It is a bit spendy here, but hey, it's downtown LA. Worth trying if you are in the area.

This was my second visit to this location. Arrived early for our 9:15pm on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. There was a live DJ inside that wasn't too loud. The ambiance inside is nice, dimly lit and nicely decorated. When I go to sushi places I like to order as I eat, which is why I appreciated that our server came by several times to check on us. For drinks, we tried the Harajuku Girl, Kyoto Sour, and The Bushi. The Harajuku girl reminded me of a Sangria and was delicious. The Bushi was like a sweet old fashion. As for the food, I mostly come here for their Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice. Their fish is always so fresh and the crispy rice is perfectly crispy. We also tried the Baked Crab Handrolls, which was perfect because it comes with 2. This was another favorite of ours. Their specialty rolls are hit or miss to me. The Salmon Lemon roll was really tasty, however the double spicy tuna was overpowered with cucumber which was disappointing because I felt like I was tasting that more than anything else and we ended up p it out. Upon return, i'd probably skip their specialty rolls and try something else.

Such an experience. We got reservations about a month before. There was a live DJ, not sure if they're always there but we were there on a Saturday. There's a bar with about 8-10 seats, not sure if you need reservations for that.I don't remember the names of every dish but we got everything from oysters to sashimi, hand rolls to mushrooms. Everything was amazing. I especially loved the Waygu ishiyaki.... melts in your mouth. Tasted just like the one we had in Asia. Great experience! Not an everyday thing but definitely wouldn't mind going again. Everyone was so nice and helpful. The vibe was very calm, yet a hint of romance mixed with hip vibes.Oh parking! They have valet parking but there is a structure nearby, not sure if it's just for the show but that was $10 after 6pm.

Katsuya was a vibe! My friend and I wanted to have dinner together before catching a show at Hollywood Pantages, and Katsuya was within walking distance. We were very happy that we decided to eat here. In terms of ambiance, the music here is quite loud with a live DJ playing in the restaurant, so if you're hoping for a quiet dinner then this isn't the place for you. The restaurant is both upscale and casual -- very LA in my opinion. Overall it's a very fun spot to visit with your friends. The service here was also very friendly and appreciated the pacing of the food. Now onto the good stuff:Harajuku girl cocktail: 5/5. this was delicious! It didn't seem like there was a lot of alcohol in here but it tasted so good. Definitely tasted the dragonfruit and it wasn't too sweet. rock shrimp: 4/5. This was a very nice appetizer with delicious flavor. The sauce really made the dish. Kinda reminded me of walnut prawns, but better. I only wish the shrimp were bigger -- sometimes I thought I grabbed a shrimp but it was just batter.sushi moriawase (8 pc nigiri + specialty roll): 3.5/5. I really appreciated the size of each nigiri. They did not skimp on the fish, and the fish was very fresh. They do not disclose what specialty roll or nigiri pieces they will give you, so it's kind of similar to an omakase. My only complaint was that the rice was a bit hard on the nigiri.Overall we enjoyed our dinner here and i will definitely return the next time I catch a show at Hollywood Pantages. While Katsuya is on the pricier side, I do think that the pricing was very fair for the whole experience and quality of the food.

Stopped in after a variety show at the Montalban for a birthday drink, and stayed for some delicious sushi, & great conversation with mixologist Matthew, Sushi Sous-chef Daniel, and other members of the Katsuya Hollywood family. They've updated their menu since our last visit, and the new offerings were too intriguing to pass up. My fiancé wanted to try the Wagyu nigiri, which I was initially wary of. It's two pieces of torched thinly sliced Wagyu atop rice - the combination of which literally melts in your mouth like butter. My fiancé was wary of the Bluefin tuna sashimi with uni and truffle oil, as he often is wary of uni, but this dish may have converted him into an uni appreciator - it was delicate and not overly fishy. Other things we tried and enjoyed were the scallop sashimi, Blue fin nigiri and sashimi, and oysters. We also really enjoyed the Yuzu Paloma with mezcal. The yuzu really balanced out the smokiness of the mezcal, and made for an enjoyable beverage. When it came up that we were out celebrating my birthday, we were treated to a complimentary Strawberry Taiyaki sundae - delicious! This experience was even more enjoyable than the last, I think because we sat at the cocktail bar. For our next visit we will opt for the sushi bar! Check out Katsuya Hollywood for a fun and chic atmosphere, and mouth-watering food!

Had a great time here with the family. It seemed very busy but the service was outstanding. The food is amazing and it all came out pretty quick, I was going to see "Wicked" across the street and I was worried i was not going to make it in time. I was wrong. This is the place to go if you want good food and great service!

A perfect way to end my evening.I needed to treat myself and thought, why not try Katsuya? I hadn't been there in a while! As usual, they were incredibly welcoming and genuinely cared for their guests. The waiter, Anthony, didn't just ask if I was doing okay--he truly cared and went out of his way to accommodate me. His suggestions were spot on.The food? Amazing, as always. Watching the chefs through the open kitchen, I could see the care they put into every dish. But seriously--how do they make it taste that good?Katsuya sits in the heart of Hollywood, yet it feels like a hidden gem. Because I feel if more people knew what a great place this is and how great everything tastes, there'd be a line around the block just to get in.Cheers, and thank you!

I came here for a little late Valentines celebrations and this place went over the top. Usually I hate going out to celebrate VDAY but I wanted to make my girlfriend happy and she wanted to eat sushi. The decor was so nice and romantic. The butter beer drink they have was delicious and the presentation is top notch! TBH it was better than the one you get at universal studios. The food was so fresh and the service was great. I will be returning with or without my girl.
