Very authentic Japanese restaurant with ambience of a non touristy restaurant in Tokyo. You can order on a tablet or with a server. Prices somewhat high but not outrageous. Doesn't have the Americanized sushi. Lots of cooked options. Black cod and miso eggplant phenomenal. Individual sushi wonderful too.

Finding a good sushi place in Santa Monica is hard. They have so many restaurants to choose from. We looked up a sushi restaurant and came across Kappo Miyabi. With over 1k reviews we were excited to try this place. We made a reservation online and walked in the place was beautiful. The front entry was decorated with cherry blossoms. We were seated right away. We started off with the miso eggplant, Agedashi tofu and albacore sashimi with a spicy ponzu sauce. The miso eggplant is a must try! The tofu delicious however the albacore sashimiNot a favorite. We then got a tuna belly sashimi and salmon, but we're just okay. We then tried the skewers. Steak skewers, wagyu, pork belly and the honey miso sea bass! Each skewer was better than the previous one! If you come to this restaurant for the skewers you are in luck however I wouldn't come back for the sushi. Decent restaurant wouldGive it a 3.5z

This is a great spot for lunch! I have been here twice now for their lunch sets and were really impressed with the quality taste of the food for the price. You can tell each item is prepared with care. The tuna crispy rice and eggplant are my favorite dishes. It comes with miso soup too! I can never decide what to order and loved the variety of the small dishes that comes with the lunch set. Also, the service has been awesome here and better than I remember.

Parking is a little difficult but Kappo Miyabi is right at the corner of Arizona and 7th street. It's right next to Backyard Bowls if you haven't tried that amazing açaí spot! Came here for DineLA and left a little disappointed. Loved the presentation though!Food was okay, I think the agedashi and miso glazed eggplant were probably the best. The spicy tuna on crispy rice didn't seem fresh because of the post results via stomach ache. DineLA meal set $35味噌汁 Miso Soup = average グリーンサラダ House Salad = average シェフのチョイス刺身 Chef's Choice 5pcs Sashimi = okay but not mind-blowing 揚げ出し豆腐 Agedashi Tofu = good 茄子味噌 Miso Glazed Eggplant = good 地鶏唐揚げ Chicken Karaage = good鮭の照り焼き Grilled Salmon = okay it's definitely not wild or fresh salmonスパイシーツナのクリスピーライス Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice = horrible! うざく Sunomono Cucumber with Unagi = okay Service was friendly as they did check in and ensure everything was smooth. This was really good! the lunch omakase (not the lunch sushi omakase, just the regular one for 80$) is huge i couldn't finish 40% of it! but it was really good and timely as well. Waiter was also great. I'd definitely recommend but be super hungry! $80 is definitely a great deal for all the food you get too.
