Joon Shabu Shabu

I like how you can add your own flavors and make your own broth based on your preferences. The staff is very friendly and they will help explain the menu if you haven't had Shabu before. The only thing I would recommend is if they could put their AC on higher. Imagine every customer is cooking their soup in high heat, so the place gets super hot.

It's been a while since I've dined at Joon Shabu Shabu but happy to share that the food was consistently fresh and tasty. Tonight, I was served by Sophia who was bubbly, sweet, and friendly. She gave us a minute to look at the menu and brought out some drinks and took our order. We doctored the broth with the sauces and garnishes provided. I added a huge spoon of minced garlic along with some generous squirts of the orange and brown bottles. The sliced beef and fresh veggies were served immediately along with a side of ramen or udon noodles. You control the pace of your meal by adding protein and veggies and cooking it to your liking. A filling meal for 3 plus drinks was under $100, which is unheard of in this economy. Even on a weekday night, there was a good amount of diners enjoying the same warm broth meal to escape the cold weather!

Been going here for over 7 years now! They never disappoint! The IPPAI is my usual order because you get 9 oz. Of meat! Service has always been on point. Everyone is friendly and attentive.The restaurant itself is nice. They have tabletop seating and lower seating. Overall, I'd recommend this place to anyone craving Shabu Shabu near the Glendale area!

I have been a regular here for about 10 years now. This is my favorite shabu place ever. I love that they keep their menu the same. I always get their Joon beef meat and my favorite sauce is their niniku and goma. Other than the food their customer service is what has us coming back. Staff is friendly and always on point.

I loveeee this place! I've been coming here for years and it never disappoints. Staff for the most part is friendly. They have bar seating and table height seating. I always order the angus beef and the quality/ price point can't be beat. You have a choice of 2 free sauces and rice. I've ate at a fair share of shabu places in LA and I would choose Joon every time!

Ambiance: it's a packed Shabu shabu place in Glendale, two u shaped long tables inside, they also have a parking lot in the rear of the establishment, easily to miss the entrance open to a narrow alley Service: friendly but forgetful, had to remind the sever to get water and drink, also two servers repetitively come to the tables and checked like very five minutes to ask if anything is okay or need to add something, over hospitality caused annoying interruptions to enjoy the mealFood & Drink: each adult has to order an entree, and it comes with assorted vegetables, black rice, choice of udon or ramen noodles, and two dipping sauces, and you can request sampler before making the choices Angus Beef - *** Prime Ribeye, average taste Joon Beef - ** Prime Chuck Roll, still frozen meat served to the table, and bad cut, rubbery texture Ponzu - **** Soy sauce and citrus based Goma - **** Sesame seed based Soyo - *** Soy, garlic, and onion based with a peppery kick to it Ninniku - *** Garlic emulsion sauce Umami - *** Mushroom based sauce that is slightly sweet and savory Kirin Draft Beer - *** light tastePrice: decent portions, but totally not worth $50+ per person for the lackluster meat quality

Just love this place! Pricing is pretty reasonable and we get to customize our broth! Extra is the habanero sauce to kick the sauces up a notch. And the added bonus is the service is always great!

The place was clean. The service was great. The servers were super attentive, informative, and patient. They helped explain how to eat there.There are two flavoring bottles that you can use to put in your boiling water. (See image for reference)Then there is this oil and powder you can put on your raw meat. (See image for reference)When you eat, you can eat the meat and vegetables alone first. Then, save like half the meat and half the vegetables to put into the bowl you are are given to eat with the noodles and soup. Such a wonderful experience...staff was friendly, food was fresh, space is bright and welcoming. Loved that you could sample the sauces before choosing. DIY broth, perfect for vegetarians. We can't wait to share this gem with family!

So goood!! First timer and it was deliciiiiouuuussssAmbiance--it's very big but family style feeling. Although we're all in a big circle (high or low side), it was just me and my friend so it didn't feel distracting or hard to interact at all. I am curious how it'd feel with a bigger group as I saw others with 4-5 people. Anyway, it's very relaxed, hotpot esque!Food-Delicious! -Angus Prime ribeye meat: the vegggies YUUUMMM! I definitely have an american eye where I'll look at plates and think it doesn't look that big but omg I was STUFFED afterwards. I love the accessibility to soup sauces and everything too so it was really comfortable and yummy! Also I looovee purple rice so WIN!Service--They were amazing!! From the start when I sat down, to any orders, to when we dropped something and needed some help, to every part! They were really prompt, friendly, great at what they do, and added to the experience for sure.Will 100% be back : )
