Ji Rong serves the best Peking duck I've ever tasted--I dare say it's even better than Mott 32! There's something about how juicy and flavorful it is, with the perfect crispy skin that just melts in your mouth. Absolutely top-tier. Our food came out fairly quickly, and the service was smooth and efficient. It's also a great spot for family-style meals, with generous portions and plenty of classic dishes to share. If you're a fan of Peking duck, this place is a must-visit!

Ji Rong has been my family to go restaurant since young, we would visit the restaurant almost once per week. Our family's review for the restaurant is that their food remind us of home (high review for Chinese families), but the service is horrible. Ever since we moved to another city, we haven't been there for around 9 years. The food quality and taste remains as before. House Special Pancake: The pancake is not as crispy as before and it's more oily than before. My family and I agree that it seems to be pre-made and then reheated. Black Fungus with Chinese Yam: Great combo of the Chinese yam and black fungus. It's a common dish, but Ji Rong made it well. It is not overly salty or oily. It's not commonly found in most Chinese restaurants in the state, so definitely recommend it. Baked Pumpkin with Egg Yolk: Pumpkin is nicely coated with egg yolks, nice balanced of flavor. However, it can get greasy after eating too much, so it's a great dish to be shared by a large party size. Cold Chicken with Spicy Sauce: The hot sauce is spicy, but not fragrant enough. More like straight spicy. Not the best Cold Chicken with spicy sauce in town. Sauteed Special Mushroom: This dish is still the same as before, the taste did not change at all! Highly recommend this, it is flavorful. The portion of this dish is nice. Mixed Vegetables Platter: In my memory, this dish is made with green beans with scrambled eggs, black fungus and cilantro. But it came with potatoes. Still a nice mix to pair with the pancakes that came with it. Another common dish, but not a must order choice (unless you like potatoes)Our family is not into roasted duck, so we didn't order it this time. Compared to before their service improved a lot, but still not the best (typical Asian restaurant service). If you want to try authentic Chinese food (other than canto style) then Ji Rong is a great choice. FYI, the restaurant is VERY busy, so you must go a few minutes before the restaurant open to make sure you can get a table without a reservation (to make a reservation, duck is required to be order).

Ji Rong Peking Duck delivers a well-executed Peking duck experience, though it doesn't quite reach the caliber of top spots in New York or San Francisco. The duck itself was tender and flavorful, with a light, crispy skin that showcased proper roasting technique. The knife work was precise, ensuring each slice was evenly cut and well-presented. While enjoyable, it lacked the depth of flavor found in some of the more renowned Peking duck establishments. However, the salted egg yolk pumpkin was a standout -- one of the best in California. Perfectly coated and fried to a crisp yet delicate texture, it was rich, savory, and incredibly well-balanced.For those seeking a solid Peking duck with exceptional side dishes, Ji Rong is a great choice. While it may not surpass the best in NY or SF, it remains a strong contender for quality duck in Southern California.

Made reservations for 10 on a Sunday at noon, pre order a peking duck. Minimum that needed to be spent for a party of 10 is $400. My favorite dishes were Peking duck, the pancake that came with it was thin and soft, you add the duck, cucumbers, green onions and a dash of hoisin sauce. Almost looks like a taco. Shanghai style spareribs is soo good, has a slight sweet taste and just goes so well with the ribs. Hot and spicy cabbage, I don't think it was spicy but the flavor is soo good and tasty. Everyone at the table was impress by how simple a vegetable can be and so good. House pancake didn't have much flavor but it was flakey and crispy. Add a little sauce from the food your eating and it should be good. Honey walnut shrimp, I don't know how I feel about breaded shrimp and some mayo on top of it. The presentation is nice but it did NOT taste like a honey walnut shrimp Pan Fried Lamb chop was good and didn't taste very gamey. Mapo tofu had a nice spice to it and it was easy to eat. Jellyfish was chewy and had flavor. Service was fast once we got someone to take our order. Overall great experience and we were able to try out some dishes we normally wouldn't

We met an old friend here for Lunar New Years dinner. I have to start off in saying the parking situation is just horrible here. We spent 30 minutes looking for parking and ended up 3 blocks away. Now that I got that off my chest we started our meal with some delicious Hot and Sour soup. It was a tad more sour than hot.The Duck was really good. We ate the crispy skin first wrapped in a thin crepe like wrapper with some julienned cucumber, scallions, and hoisin sauce. We also had the Kung Pao Beef and it was flavor bomb! Very good! The food more than made up for parking ordeal.

I struggled deciding if this is 3 or 4 stars. Food wise, it's.... fine. Mid to better than mid. Basically, good enough. Authentic enough. But is it the best in the amazing SGV area? No. Is it something I am gonna miss and come back for? No. It's fine, acceptable, just nothing amazing and faces tough competition in LA when it comes to ranking tastiest Chinese food.Came here for CNY lunch. Pricing is acceptable. About $250 for the spread which in this economy is decent. Service was fast, and as good as it gets at a traditional Chinese joint. Waiter acknowledged me, seated us quickly, noted our res, had my reserved Peking duck immediately, had simple smiles - not bad honestly for a spot like this! Helps if you know Mandarin, of course, but they spoke English too.Note:*** make sure you call ahead to reserve a duck if you want it, or they might run out if you walk in when busy.I think the reason why I find it so mid is cuz they're supposed to be specialized in duck but the duck really fell flat for me. I've just had way better duck is all. Had to douse it in hoisin to enjoy it and that's not how duck should be.Duck - 6/10. Just fine. I've had better. For a flagship item this is gonna get rated tough.Greens and century egg - not bad, greens are very fresh. Scallop and garlic and vermicelli - 7.5/10. They are decent, just also I've had better, and vermicelli was clumpy already when delivered to the table.Crab and black fungus - i did not expect this to be vinegary and sour. Took me out. Was expecting a different flavor profile so I didn't care too much for it personally. 7/10Flat meat pie - amazing. This should be the flagship item lmao 10/10Buns with meat and diced bean - 10/10, also done perfectly Salted egg pumpkin - not crispy enough! Disappointing. 7/10Roti - terrible. I really expected something buttery and soft and amazing. Got bland, hardened, meh instead. 5/10

We used to go to Ji Rong Peking Duck more often but haven't been there after the Pandemic. They increased the price a lot and the food quality was not up to our expectations. We pre-ordered the whole roasted Peking Duck at around noon time and made a reservation for a table of 5 of us at around 5 p.m. (you need to pre-order the duck at least 75 minutes in advance) We ordered the following:Roasted Peking Duck ($85.98) including the pancakes, scallion & cucumber Freshly made Mango Juice x 3 ($10.74) Stewed Pork Belly ($23.98) Sea Cucumber with Vegetable ($14.98)Rice ($3)For the Roasted Peking Duck (The main dish), as you can see in my photo, the duck skin color was not up to my expectation and it was not roasted into a vibrant color and they were not cut into thin slices. We could see a lot of fat underneath the skin. The sauce was okay and the pancakes were pretty thin but the portion was small. (We tried a lot of Peking Duck places and of course, we've had better). If you want to have duck soup, you can order an additional $15.98 for it. Duck meat was mediocre on the drier side, the portion shrank a lot and we didn't feel like it was a whole duck. For the Stewed Pork Belly, the sauce was very flavorful and delicious. The first few bites of the pork belly were tender but then we also had a few very chewy pieces. The portion was so small. Sea Cucumber with Vegetable, the presentation looked nice but we did not like the taste and texture. They need to improve the service as well. We were a little disappointed because their Peking duck used to be better. Oh well.

We came here for a delayed lunar new year celebration. We ordered the signature Peking duck, walnut shrimp, black pepper beef, shredded pork with pancakes, pea sprouts, xiao long bao and the jua bin. We have a party of 5 and we're stuffed with leftover. The food came promptly and the service was attentive. This was a great feast and everyone enjoyed the meal. Ji Rong has a casual vibe and plenty of parking at the lot. Great food and we will come back again!

My family has been coming to Ji Rong for years, every year around the holidays after visiting Rose Hills. We always get the duck and an assortment of other items (cumin lamb skewers, pork belly, house pancake, mapo tofu, XLB, etc.)My parents love the flavors and the service here. The portions are decent and (as a large family), we always get a variety of foods. Because of that, I'm just going to briefly touch on the foods I like.I love the Peking duck with pancakes (instead of Bao's) is a favorite. If I have the choice between pancakes or Bao's, I'll choose pancakes any day (a lot easier to wrap and they hold more). The lamb skewers are juicy and crispy, the house pancakes are fluffy and flakey (and a substitute for white rice when eating meaty dishes).I can't say I've ever had anything bad here but I do suggest coming here (or getting takeout) as a large group so you can get a variety of foods.Parking is pretty easy too as there are parking lots on BOTH sides of the restaurant.

The highlight, of course, was the peking duck. The thiiiiiiick and crispy skin captures the Beijing duck style. The spicy steamed fish was another standout dish, and as spicy food is the focus here, the bold flavors pair perfectly with bowls of rice! A pleasant surprise was the flaky spiral pancake that my friends really wanted. The natural design adds to a simple decor for a polished feel. We appreciated how accommodating the English service was for my group. We booked a private room for a family birthday, and there was a minimum order requirement. And when we ordered the staff was super helpful in getting us there!
