This restaurant is truly a hidden gem, cherished by locals and loved by generations of families. The stories that surround this place make it feel special, and the food? Simply amazing! As someone with roots in mainland China, I can confidently say the flavors here are authentic and comforting, reminding me of home. The menu is full of incredible dishes, and I've yet to find one I don't enjoy. My personal favorites include the house spirits tofu, the perfectly seasoned salty and pepper pork, and the rich, flavorful third congee. Every dish is prepared with care, and the quality shines through in every bite. The service is always warm and welcoming, making you feel like part of the family. The traditional mom-and-pop ambiance adds a nostalgic charm you won't find in larger chain restaurants. If you're looking for exceptional food, a cozy atmosphere, and a place with heart and history, this is it. Highly recommended!

Jade Wok is a no frills hole in the wall restaurant with delicious authentic Chinese food at a great price! We ordered the Mongolian beef, rice porridge with century egg and pork, house special tofu, and Chinese spinach- these were all so savory and came in generous portions! I'd recommend this as one of the best restaurants in the Chinatown area, and would definitely love to come back!

I've been coming here for over 5 years and it's was one of the best tasting and value Chinese restaurants in Chinatown. Prices have been going up from the pandemic and it's lost the value proposition. I went to pick up lunch as I usually do and ordered my usual, shrimp with scrambled eggs, house made tofu and hot and sour soup. Not sure what's going on, but two of the regular chefs were not there and the lady that is usually in the front was cooking with new chefs. The shrimp with scrambled eggs was much smaller as in the past it filled the take out container. The home made tofu used to be two large square tofu pieces with minced meat in the sauce. Today is was 8 smaller pieces of tofu and hardly any minced meat in the sauce, which made it kind of bland. The hot and sour soup tasted more sour and it was not balanced at all. It didn't have much bamboo shoots, Lilly buds and shiitake mushrooms and the color of the soup was not the same. Needless to say, I didn't enjoy this meal as i normally did. It's not a value anymore and the taste fell short. I may have to find another place moving forward. It's too bad!

I ordered from here based on the reviews and I'm wondering why my food was so bad compared to what other people have written. I ordered the steamed dumplings, these are ok- very basic and no sauce comes with them so fairly bland. I also ordered the egg rolls, they are also just ok- typical for LA eggrolls in my experience. Then I ordered the sweet and sour shrimp. These are the best item I got but still I would only rate them on a flavor scale of 1/5. They're covered in sauce so already mushy, thankfully they have peppers and onions to add some flavor. Lastly the orange peel chicken. This may be the worst thing I've eaten since I moved to LA. Zero flavor at all, just red mushy pieces and I can't stress this enough, no flavor of any kind. It doesn't even taste like chicken it tastes like nothing. I hate leaving negative reviews but after spending $60ish and really having nothing to enjoy I feel it's only fair.

Me and a coworker come here four times a week.! Sue is a great waitress and takes care of us every single time. She's friendly fast running around and always smiling. The service is great the chefs in the back are very friendly and always laugh and smile when we come in through the back to eat. I wouldn't hear everyday if I could.! I love this place love this place I would give it 10 Stars if I could

This place has a lot of traditional dishes at a great price/value.The house special home made tofu is phenomenal. It's my go-to item. Generally speaking based on the several times I've been here, I get the impression that the menu items that have pictures along the wall tend to be the better items. Dishes I liked:Home made tofu - amazing texture, crispy outside and soft inside with a savory black bean sauce. Literally my favorite dish here and the rest I come here.Fish filet with spicy salt - excellent soft texture with crispy outside. I wish it had more white pepper seasoning, but overall still good.Dishes that were fine but I would not get again:Eggplant - taste was excellent, but the skin was a bit too tough and thickWalnut shrimp - taste is fine, but the shrimp wasn't crispy at all, just soggy and drenched in the sauceShanghai style pork ribs - excellent taste, but I wish it were cooked a bit longer so it's more tenderDishes I didn't like:Beef chow fun - nothing special, the noodles weren't chewy, a bit over cooked and soggy. Seasoning was salty but not savory.Service and ambiance were both fine, but don't factor into my rating. My rating is just for the food.

Jade Wok is your staple neighborhood Chinese restaurant - glad they're still around! We tried the white rice, pan fried string beans, sweet and sour chicken, and honey walnut shrimp. Everything needed a bit more salt / flavor IMO, but it was still delicious over some hot white rice. It was about $60 after tax and tip for those four dishes, pretty good value for the portions as well. I recommend calling ahead if you're ordering to go as they were ready within 15 minutes of me placing a phone order. Keep in mind that there are about two staff members who are answering phones, taking in person orders from diners, bringing out the dishes and bussing them back, so they run a tight ship here and it might be a bit difficult to get their immediate attention. Restroom: Not sure if they have one since I ordered for pick up, but it seems likely that they do.Parking: Metered, street, and I think there's a small lot in the back?

My friend and I finally tried out Jade Wok, basically the definition of a hole in the wall spot in Chinatown. Parking is hard but the food is well worth it.The Sesame Chicken has excellent flavors, crispy, as well! We did carry out so the house special tofu wasn't quite as crisp but that's on me. Enjoyed the flavors and also the Shanghai Spare Ribs were bomb! From all I've heard these are the 3 main dishes to try here. Now that I've had those and find them absolutely delish, time to move on to me trying more of their items. But get any of those three, and you're in for mouth happiness and your wallet won't be sad either.

Located just on the edge of Chinatown. Parking available on the street. I noticed a parking lot in the rear but not sure if free. Family owned restaurant and they're super friendly here. Got three dishes (see pics) and all of them were excellent. Their house special tofu is a high light. Never had a tofu dish like this. It's a whole piece of tofu and a sauce that is delicious! Any left over sauce I used it up with a bowl of rice. Definitely get this dish if you come in. I was also impressed with their sesame chicken. It was breaded nicely and was addictive in taste. I kept nibbling on pieces after I was full. Chinatown has changed over the years as it is more gentrified. I'm glad there's still a few places that remind me of the old school Chinatown and this is one of those places. Their food is a good reminder of how good Chinese food was, and still is, in this area.
