Every time I come to Izakaya osen it never disappoints. My must order is their toro uni bowl $38. You get so much value from this especially because you can make so many little hand rolls and it's perfect for sharing. They also have super good tuna crispy rice. Their rice is not hard and perfectly deep fried. ($23) and you can't go wrong with any of their nigiri. I loved the king salmon ($5.70) I would definitely say this is a go to spot for me especially if I'm craving sushi and want to sit down somewhere nice. The service is excellent and the food always delivers.

Wow this has to be one of the top spots for sushi! We came here for our anniversary dinner and were blown away by each dish that we tried. We got garlic soy edamame, two skewers (can't remember which ones), the toro & scallion hand roll, and the premium chirashi. Everything was so fresh and tasty. We were surprised with a matcha cake and ice cream for dessert. The matcha cake was AMAZING!Food was 10/10Service was 6/10. Any time we had someone come to our table, it was someone different and the service was slow. We had to keep flagging someone down to come take our order, check on our order, and ask for the bill. Since this was our first time there, I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say it was because it was a busy night.Regardless, I highly recommend and plan on coming back when I'm in the area.

I came for the DineLA dinner menu, it was quiet when I went and got busier as it got later. We ordered garlic soy edamame & uni scallop carpaccio to start, which was separate from the preset menu. The uni scallop carpaccio was like butter- absolutely divine. The DineLA menu courses were as follows- king crab miso soup, uni butter, sea conger, omakase sashimi, omakase sushi, A5 wagyu, toro sando, & yuzu sorbet. There were plenty of chunks of king crab in the soup. The Uni butter was fresh and just melted in your mouth. The sashimi course had a great variety of delicious options- my favorite was the salmon and toro. The sushi course had get pairings for flavor- my favorite was the toro and slightly cooked salmon bite. I loved that the preset menu show cased a variety of item from their menu. It took a while for the server to come by our table to take orders. Beef tobanyaki was overcooked and very sour. Sea bass hot pot turned out decent even though it came with dried fish rather than a piece of fish. Tuna trio was underwhelming as the Kane was a bit mushy and the otoro had a bit of tendon in it. The toro roll was unique and a good start.

I've been here a few times and it's never really blown me away. However decided to check it out again as one of my colleagues was wanting to do a tasting menu - and most sushi restaurants are closed on Mondays, hence us scoring a reservation here and giving this another go.Opted for the tasting menu - it was restaurant week. All five of us opted in (even though they said we didn't all have to do it). Started off with the draft beer - they had a few options on tap (Kirin, Sapporo, Asahi and this one with an O - which I hadn't had before but tried). Was tasty - but still wanted it to be a bit more malty. Miso soup with king crab - great way to start the meal. Had a big piece of king crab in there - which was a bit surprising for a miso soup. Uni was fresh and tasty - although not sure the melted butter added anything additional to it - probably better off without it. Sea conger - was a small piece, nicely deep fried with an umami dipping sauce.The standouts were absolutely the sashimi and the sushi. The toro with the Uni and caviar on top, along with the amaebi were my favorites. But the fish was fresh and a really nice thick cut of sashimi. The chefs weren't skimping at all. The toro sando was the perfect bite to end the meal - and to top it all off was the yuzu sorbet to leave your palette refreshed. It was so good - it made me want to learn how to make the yuzu sorbet at home.All in all - a delicious meal for a Monday evening at a great price point of $95 / person. Ambience was quaint as always, wasn't difficult to get a seat and service was good.Valet available for I think $7/car.

This place has my heart :) I've been here multiple times in Silverlake and it's always one to savor. I love it so much - the food is AUTHENTIC, AMAZING, FRESH, FANTASTIC, & FLAVORFUL. I've tried many, and this restaurant is probably my #1 favorite in LA for Japanese. The service is always impeccable, Brandon took most care of us - everyone that greets you is always a kind soul. The ambience does remind me of being in Japan with the architecture inside, plus the patio is spacious and is pet friendly :) the matcha dessert is seductive and not too sweet. Awesome place for fresh sashimi. It was a little bit out of the way coming to Silverlake, but definitely worth the trip. I came here right when they opened. There were no lines and all the staff welcomed us. The variety of fish and seafood here is vast. They really know how to make good cuts. I ordered the premium chirashi bowl. It was large enough to share with two, but was still hungry so we ordered other foods.There is a good amount of lighting here which makes it good for taking photos of the dishes they bring out. They also gave a complimentary matcha ice cream at the end. Glad I got to try this place and fit it into a busy schedule. I parked on the street instead of using their valet.

Everything was absolutely premium and larger than I expected. It felt like they are trying to give you your moneys worth without sacrificing the quality. Even though everything was delicious and fresh, the premium nigiri and Toro unagi bowl stood out the most. The seaweed that came with the bowl was thicker and crispy and was perfect wrap for the rich toro unagi and rice experience. Worth to mention that the kushiyaki pork belly was also amazing and we are excited to come back specifically to try all the different kushiyaki options. The Amato special combination dessert was unique and each part was delicious. I think in the future I'd prefer to not combine them all. Service was quick and efficient. the inside space felt a little crowded. But the aesthetic was complimentary to the food experience.

We made reservations but then they asked us to wait for the host.. we waited around 15 min in front of the restaurant and the host NEVER came.
