TRULY A HIDDEM GEM IZAKAYA IN KTOWNIzakaya Miyoung is truly a hidden gem in Ktown that I almost didn't want to share--but it's too good not to! Tucked away underground, this spot feels like stepping into a cozy izakaya in Japan, complete with traditional curtains and an intimate atmosphere. The food here is nothing short of spectacular. The *Truffle Scallop & Uni Sushi* ($34.50) was a melt-in-your-mouth experience packed with rich, decadent flavors. The *Special Sashimi* ($42.50) was the highlight--12 pieces of the freshest, beautifully arranged fish chosen by the chef. Each piece was perfection. For appetizers, the *Chicken Karaage* ($11.50) was crispy and flavorful, the *Fish Cake Soup* ($29.50) was warm and comforting, and the *Pan Roasted Abalone with Butter* ($26.50) was tender with just the right amount of richness. Not only was every dish delicious, but the presentation was stunning. Izakaya Miyoung exceeded my expectations on every level. If you're looking for an authentic izakaya experience with elevated dishes, this is the place. Highly recommend!

You know a place is good if they're popping on a Tuesday! I think this has become one of my top 3 places for very good quality sushi in ktown. I'm personally not a fan of Korean owned sushi places that much because I think they generally do a bad job with the sushi rice since they focus so much on rolls, but this place does it right. Pair that with their Yuzu Highball at the sushi bar and you're going to have a perfect and simple dinner!I also got their sashimi and skewers to try and they were excellent. (I just prefer sushi over sashimi.)I have to give credit to the sushi chef. It was a busy night, and watching him work at the sushi bar by himself was so impressive. Not only was he fast, he was consistent in quality, and his customer service was top notch, despite how busy he was. This place is a hidden gem (literally) as you have to go down an unexpected flight of stairs to this cute entrance (stairs are at the corner of Wilshire & Serrano). The vibes are chill with dim lighting and a little more light at the sushi bar. Great for both a casual night or a date.

Pre-concert meal before a show at the Wiltern. With validation from this restaurant, you can park in their lot u til 2am for $3. As for the restaurant, we had a nice meal after getting to know the place. This is old school Japanese. The staff and clientele are all Japanese which, on the one hand makes things very authentic but you also have to realize that this is far from an American sushi joint. No substitutions and, if you don't see it on the menu, don't ask. They have a full on udon soup with shrimp tempura but you can't get a cup of miso soup. They have sushi rice but not a simple bowl of hot steamed rice. My pork belly skewer and mushroom skewers were delicious, as was the udon soup. The yellowtail sushi (1 pc per order) was also wonderful. My buddies enjoyed their meal as well.

Cool indoor-outdoor restaurant located beneath the street level - for an underground vibe. Servers were very friendly and attentive. Came in before a concert at the Wiltern and wanted a small meal before hand. Food items were very good but a bit on the pricy side - could be because of the area.

I came during advertised hours, right at lunch time, to find the place sealed up tight as a drum. There's a signboard for "Lunch Specials" served "Mon-Fri 11am-2pm" on the staircase landing -- behind the deadbolted gate. No sign indicates anything about a closure. In fact, nothing else indicates their hours -- not even a website. Clearly, this place is unreliable, and I'm not inclined to waste more trips just to find a locked gate.

service is great, the cooked food (baked abalone with butter) is delicious, and their sushi is alright (had a chirashi bowl, not bad). Hate to ding a place at times like this, but there yakitori is really subpar - they were reheated and dry. It was a slow night and near closing time so maybe they didn't want to fire up the grill.
