Hoys Wok Chinese Food

The food here is just fabulous. I fell in love with the owner. You'll be here served first class and the Mongolian beef with the walnut shrimp is off the charts.Sam you're the man!

Hoy's Wok is a Chinese restaurant located in Los Angeles that has been serving up classic dishes for years. I recently visited and decided to try their wonton soup. It's perfect for a cold day or when you want to eat light. The soup came in a generous portion, with plenty of wontons, huge pieces of shrimp, and a flavorful broth. The wontons themselves were well-made, with a good filling-to-wrapper ratio. The broth was nice and not too salty.In addition to the wonton soup, Hoy's Wok also offers a wide variety of other Chinese classic dishes like noodles and rice dishes. Given the price compared to the SGV, it's more pricey, but since it's close to West Hollywood and very close to Beverly Hills that explains it. Service is great, the lady at the front is nice and friendly. There's also indoor seating so if you want to stop by for lunch there's options. You'll get a view of the bustling streets and the hospital across the way. Parking is typically scarce in this part of LA but they have a shared parking lot which is a plus. Worth checking out!

I had the General Orange Chicken with white rice and a spring roll it was absolutely delicious! My goal is to try everything on the menu so I can give you all updates on how all the dishes are. (Excuse my photo--I added soy sauce way too early and forgot to snap it for Yelp first, lol.)As you can see, Hoys Wok is quickly becoming one of my favorite restaurants to visit in West LA. First off, I love the owners--they are beyond sweet and super friendly, not just to me but to everyone who visits.For my Yelp family, here's a helpful tip: if you're planning to order food for a potluck or holiday party, make sure to plan ahead! They get really busy this time of year, which makes sense--great food, excellent service, and a community that clearly loves them.Happy Holidays, everyone! Enjoy!

I used to come to the Chinese restaurant that was here before Hoys Wok, I think it was California Wok. Anyway, came in for the first time to this new Chinese spot and ordered two large Wonton Soups. Needed something light to feed a family member that had just gotten out of surgery. The soup was so light and flavorful. Freshness permeated from the soup. The veggies, the shrimp, and Wontons were all divine. The service was very kind as well. Order was to go, so did not pay too much attention to the Ambiance, but seemed modern and clean. Will be back to try their other dishes next time I find myself in the area. Thank you Sam for your attentiveness and delicious soup.

Great service. Food was 6.5/10 for me. I got orange chicken and chow main. Chow mein was really spaghetti noodles with soy sauce so nothing that great. Orange chicken was pretty good and has a nice flavor. Some chicken piece easy to eat, others a bit more tough. Spring rolls great. I found it to be pricey overall but you should be able to get 2 full meals from it so it's balances out.

Great customer service. Catering food items ready for pick up -with no delay. Jessica was amazing! The food was abundant and delicious. No complaints. I highly recommend hoys wok Chinese food!

I had the random urge to eat Chinese food which doesn't happen often so trusty yelp gave me this nearby spot with good reviews. I gotta say people's sentiment are on point--trusty yelp. When I first walked in, I was a bit surprised it was kind of nice in there. Nothing fancy but I was expecting a somewhat grungy hole in the wall. I asked the lady what she recommended and I ended up getting the orange chicken meal which was cooked fresh which I appreciated.Chatted up the cashier person for a bit. They had another older location but moved after some time to this new one. It's a small family business that's been around for a while and now the son runs it. Business is decent with walk ins and catering.

Hoy's Wok moved from their quasi-full service old school Chinese restaurant on Sunset off La Brea in 2022 to this smaller but more modern location across from the Beverly Center. This is the first time that I've been to their new location. They have streamlined and modernized their menu with the more popular items and adopted a counter ordering process to mimick fast food service. However, all dishes are freshly made-to-order in the open kitchen. The restaurant has enjoyed publicity from the local news station to help put Hoy's Wok on the map. Their General Orange Chicken was voted the Best General Orange Chicken in L.A. in 2020 by the series Destination L.A. It is sorta of a fusion of General's Tso and Orange Chicken. It is very sweet and tangy. It was tasty, but I wouldn't say it was the best "Orange" chicken in L.A. It is probably, though, the best fusion, General Orange Chicken in L.A.!!Most of their business since the pandemic tends to be takeout. They do have limited but comfortable seating at this new location with a big screen TV. Parking is easy and free at its Plaza La Cienega strip mall location. The food was very fresh. The owners and service were very friendly and the place was super clean. I would definitely come back to try some of their other menu items when I am in the Beverly Grove area.

Been going to Hoy's Wok since the 90's when it was on Sunset! Food has always been great and I'm proud to have followed them to 3rd street. Thank you for all the great meals over the years!

Unfortunately, in spite of its great reviews, this one is a bust. Food was mediocre at best and gave ALL of us GI issues. Greasy, saucy, and filled with sodium. Arrived cold with delivery. Expensive too!
