We've been Shabu-ing at the House of Shabu Shabu, Irvine for years! So sad they no longer there so I started Shabu-ing at this location. Haven't failed me, always a pleasure. The team there are super and great service. If you are like me, when you're hungry and don't want to go broke, go AYCE, go House of shabu shabu.Hands down to this shabu shabu! Meat is fresh and tender. Love the sushi selections and appetizers. Not to mention, the best goma sauce!

I had such a satisfying dinner at House of Shabu tonight. The staff was incredibly nice and friendly, always making sure we had enough food and were ready to reorder. However, as I was leaving the restaurant, my car had an issue. It was already late, and the parking lot was nearly empty. My friend and I decided to go back inside and ask for help. That's when Jason stepped in--thank God for him! He was so kind and efficient, coming outside with jumper cables to connect our cars and get mine running again. He also took the time to carefully explain what I should do next.Thank you so much, Jason! My friends and I are regular customers here, and we've never been disappointed, but tonight we were especially impressed by the kindness of the people who work here. Always happy to support this business. Thank you again!

After a short wait we were seated & greeted immediately. Pretty standard hot pot items. You can order AYCE or Meat by the ounce .We did AYCE , you can get sushi rolls & appetizers & various noodles with your hotpot. Pro tip - ask for sides of green onion & garlic for your pot !The meat was great & their tonkotsu was really deep & flavorful . The only downside is they only have canned beverages

There's no place like home, and there's no place like House of Shabu Shabu. While, I was super sad to lose their Irvine location (which was super close to me!)...this drive from Irvine to Anaheim is worth the drive. After previously trying some shabu shabu, this is hands down my favorite place. They start with a bowl of fresh veggies and sauces. I always get double ponzu sauce because it's my favorite--I could literally drink it. They next bring your broth--I recommend the house broth. It's my favorite and really yummy. My favorite meats are the angus beef and chicken. Highly recommend their gyoza and chicken wings--they are super yummy. I feel like the service is always pretty top notch. They are very quick with bringing what you need, and lots of staff should you need anything else. Overall the restaurant is clean. It is best set up for 2 tables, but do have a bar area and some larger tables. The restaurant layout is pretty simple, but the real star of of the show is the food. They even top it off with a little scoop of ice cream. Also the special A is only 26.99, which is a great deal. Thanks Shabu Shabu for always a great time and an amazing meal!

I've been to this restaurant a few times, always enjoy it! My boyfriend and I went yesterday for lunch at 1 PM. The lunch price was cheaper than other places I've tried. We got the cheapest lunch special, $22/person. The menu had 3 all you can eat special options, each with different tiers of meat/sushi/side dishes. There were lots of different broths for lunch. The meat selection and side dishes available for lunch were worth the price. We both got spicy garlic broth, veggies and brisket. My boyfriend loves the brisket, each plate comes with about 8 slices. He ate about 7 plates of thin brisket by himself. I loved the side dishes, the beef gyoza was surprisingly tasty! I got about 5 veggie bowls. The menu has tons of broths, meats, sushi and side dishes. The restaurant is all you can eat, with a few rules. Everyone in the group has to get AYCE and the same AYCE tier option (special A, B or C). There is a 90 minute time limit. Leftover food will be charged to the bill. The restaurant has lots of booths and a bar to sit at. There's loud music playing in the background, the playlist was all over the place! Some of the music wasn't family or kid friendly. We each got our own broth bowl, so we didn't need to lean over one pot. The service was good, we kept asking for sides and meats. We got complimentary ice cream at the end. I wish we got more ice cream, as an ice cream lover.

While in Cali, we looked to Yelp for some help in finding a good hot pot restaurant. This particular restaurant had 4.5 stars and many 5 star reviews, so we decided to try it out. It's showed that they have hot pot and sushi items so we were curious and excited to try it.Please note that they do not take reservations, so be prepared to wait especially if you go at a busy time such as dinner. Their waitlist on Yelp also doesn't allow you to to join until you are within a mile away. We waited for about an hour from the time we were placed on the waitlist. Also if you check in on Yelp, when you arrive be sure to go to their IPad and confirm that you have arrived. This assures that they know you are there and can seat you accordingly.AMBIANCEWhen you walk in, there is a counter that can fit about 10-12 people and several 2-4 table booths along the wall. The tables are in an L shape. If you look to the left, they have a long hallway which have numerous 2 seater booths. This hallway leads you to an area where they can accommodate larger parties and have bigger tables. There is music playing in the background and just loud enough that we could hear each other as we were talking.FOOD:They have three options on their AYCE menu: Special A, B, & C. We opted for Special B ($36.99)When were seated at the counter area, there were 1 waters and 2 bowls with set vegetables. The vegetable bowls consisted of some kale, some wombok cabbage, some enoki mushroom strands, 1 piece of carrots, 1 piece of tofu, and 1 piece of raddish. One bowl had spinach as well.I only ate the wombok, enoki, and tofu. Everything else went to trash. You were able to order more veggies, seafood items, and noodles with the server and he allowed for 2 orders or meat at a time. We ordered the spicy miso and sukiyaki broths. The spicy miso was okay but more on the spicier side. The hot pot was okay. The sushi portion of the menu was okay as well. We ordered hamachi nigiri, salmon sashimi, unagi nigiri, and a hot night roll which had shrimp tempura inside snd spicy ahi on the outside. The fish wasn't fresh and tasted just okay. The hamachi was dry and tasted as though it was sitting out. SERVICESeveral people served us and tended to us. They came often to check on us which was awesome and asked us if we wanted to order more meats as you could only order 2 at a time.UNSANITARY PRACTICESI had observed a male employee with no gloves his answer the phone, then touched his face, then touched food items. Instead of using a tray, he carried more than 5 plates to a table and the plate closest to him had food touching his apron. I felt that was this was very unsanitary. Other servers kept changing their gloves when they touched different things. The box of gloves was on the counter just as you enter/exit the kitchen area towards the back, which made it convenient for the employees to switch out their gloves. NOT ONCE while we were there did this particular employee wear any gloves. I'm not sure what their procedure is with using gloves but his practices were not sanitary whatsoever. We got full quickly and didn't get to try too much on the menu, but was able to try a little of both hot pot and sushi. We thought that the food was just okay. I don't think I will return to this restaurant but it was an experience. The wait was really long and wish they would allow you to check in sooner thsn a mile out, but im sure they have it this way for a reason. The food was just okay and nothing I would like to get again. The quality of the fish was not great. The unsanitary practices of the one employee really bothered me, as I've gotten sick from other restaurants where employees handled EVERYTHING with the same gloves.I really wanted to like it especially since there were many great reviews, but was so disappointed.

This place is so affordable and a great comfort place to eat at! I paid $27 per person for the most basic level of AYCE shabu + sushi. The options are more limited for the basic menu but is plenty for me. All of the spicy things i've ordered have been pretty spicy for myself to be careful! But the quality is definitely there, i've been back already! The service can be spotty- but they try their best because it gets busy. But the servers are nice and genuine! I check in on yelp for a table because it gets boring pretty busy after 6pm. The ambiance is pretty normal and on the nosier side. I definitely recommend!

This is a nice shabu shabu spot. We came for a weekday lunch and they had AYCE for $21.99. Service was friendly, a bit forgetful when we asked for extra stuffs. They did bring food out quickly and check in on us often. The food was good. Not that many options but enough to get our belly full and happy. We didn't get the sushi rolls, but that was cool that they had them. Their most popular broths are the house special and the miso broth. * Spicy House Special Broth 4.5/5 - This was a pretty good beef bone broth with a touch of mild spiciness. * Tom Yum Broth 5/5 - Yummy sweet and sour Thai tom yum broth that was mildly spicy. * Brisket 5/5 - Tasty meat with a bit of fattiness to add flavor. * Ponzu sauce 4/5 - This was sweeter than the regular lemony ponzu sauce. A bit like teriyaki sauce. I prefer the regular ponzu sauce more.

Good selection and quantity of meats- even for their entry level AYCE special (Menu A). I like that they also offer variety including sushi, tempura and other fun sides. However, broth was a little salty (tonkotsu and House Special) and their dipping sauces okay. Average hot pot place, but overall good value for the price point.

My female friend loves hot pot. I'm not the biggest fan of boiling my meat or soups for that matter. However, this place surprised me. They gave you a choice of broths and it was all you can eat for a relatively low price. They ACE menu also included sushi rolls, fry chicken, and other prepared items. The restaurant ambiance wasn't the greatest and it was a little cramped. The service was 7/10 as it took awhile for the waiter to come around. However, for what you pay, the food was good, the service was better than ok, and it was a bargain. I definitely will be going back with my friend. For comparison, we went to another hot pot place that upcharged for everything and was not all you can eat and we spent more. The ambiance and space were relatively the same. I leave a review for that spot, which I'll never go to again.
