Hot Wok is a small restaurant in NoHo that serves up some of the best Chinese food in the valley. Since the pandemic, it's carry out only. Prior to, it was dine in as well. Over the years I've come here, I've only met one staff person, the owner, no one else and he's hilarious. I have ordered several items on the menu, never disappointed. Some of my favorites are the Shrimp Lo Mein, Veggie Fried Rice and Beef & Broccoli. The prices are the cheapest around.

This is not fair.I'm super hungryLet's go.A quick review with more to come for sure. For now, 4 Star = I'm a fanLOCATION/ PARKINGTHIS IS TO GO FOOD ONLY *Yes. There are tables inside, but take it and find a spot to eat elsewhere. There's some street parking and immediately behind for quick pick up.!! I'm trying to remind myself to eat slowly, but failing !! Hunger is real.SERVICE - ExcellentThere are reviews here claiming poor or hostile service. I think this might be an attempt to keep all new people away. The owner was VERY NICE and said that my dish would take a few minutes to prepare because he had other orders ahead of mine. Ok no problem waiting. BUT IT WAS STILL VERY FAST! Barely time to watch a news segment about dogs waiting for adoption playing on the in-store television.FOODVEGETARIAN option number one for me is always LO MEIN. soft oily saucy tangy fat noodles - Like the ones I'd get from the Chinese spot on the corner in NYC.I would like more bean sprout And onions, but I didn't ask. Next time.$7If I'm honest, this is enough food for two meals of noodles.I kid myself into believing I'm carb loading for running, and I walked here - so I can eat the whole container.I'll go through the whole veggie menu here if I can.Summer goals.PRICEaffordable.Prices aren't updated, but affordable adjusted for inflation since old photos.CASH ONLY.

THE REVIEWS ARE TRUE ABOUT THIS OWNER. He is a complete a$$hole.First impressions of the place, don't let the A rating deter you. Go inside. NO AC. doors wide open. bugs flying around. Dirty disgusting ceiling and vents. I have no idea how they have an A. The manager/owner looked at me and said in the rudest tone "what do you want?!" I let him know I was picking up a food order. He said "well it's just me! so you have to wait!" i walked out. As I'm getting in my car he said something, I wasn't even paying attention. Literally looked at him and said "never mind! i'm going somewhere else!" he then yelled back "good! go!"DONT GIVE HIM YOUR MONEY. Go elsewhere.

I'm glad I found this place but wish I found it sooner. Authentic Chinese food! This place is only to go and CASH only so prepared. The food takes a little while because it's cooked fresh but worth it! The owner is super sweet and funny ! I've been here already a couple times and it does not disappoint! The lo mein are really good noodles, not to thick. The kung pao chicken is so good but don't be fooled by the chilis it's not spicy.

The owner is a character for sure and it's hot in the shop but the food is bomb. And if you're lucky, you'll get a wild story.

Wow. Just amazing Chinese food. The gentleman who owns Hot Wok in North Hollywood is right there to take your order which he promptly sets about cooking himself, and fast! The owner/chef is the only person there, and his name is Quong Ngo. He is warm, kind, and personable. He is a very experienced chef who knows what he is doing and he does it very well indeed. His delicious authentic Chinese food comes in generous portions with low prices, roughly $9 per chock-full, steaming hot container. He will ask you how many people you are feeding, and you can feed a family of four easily for about $38.00! The yummy food in this clean, small restaurant is take-out only, and he takes only cash, but you will be delighted with how scrumptious everything is. Please be sure to tip him well, because he is a treasure. :) He has a big menu, but he is careful to tell you which dishes are available that day and which are not. Treat yourself to his cashew chicken, beef broccoli, fried rice, and chow mein noodles. Each dish is so savory you probably won't need any extra seasoning like soy sauce. He recommends you taste the food first before adding anything. This is our second time getting dinner from him, and we didn't need to add a thing to either tasty meal! It's always been easy to find a spot in front on Lankershim to park. Just be sure to bring a couple of quarters for the meter. Hot Wok is a must-go if you relish excellent Chinese food!

This hole in a wall restaurant is pretty straightforward and seems to be run by one man.The portions are plentiful, and very affordable. The food itself was not the best Chinese food I've ever had. The chow mein and mixed veggies were four out of five. The beef and broccoli was three out of five. The orange chicken was the least favorite and I would give it two out of five.A few things to note before visiting: - I suggest ordering by phone ahead of time and asking for the total.- It's cash only so bring cash.- Parking is limited to street parking.- The menu he has displayed is from ages ago with prices and menu items that are no longer the present day items or prices. So make sure you ask what is available and confirm the prices with the owner. - There is no dining in -- only to go orders.

Kwan the owner is amazing! He took my phone order and made the food himself for my wife and I. The food quality was excellent and tasted delicious! Just what we were hoping for! The ambiance of the restaurant was very authentic and quaint. I would definitely go back! I live in sherman oaks so North Hollywood was only a 10 min drive for me and totally worth it.We ordered the orange chicken, chicken lo mein noodles, shrimp fried rice, veggies, egg rolls and dumplings. Definitely plenty for left overs and it reheated excellent!Must go if your in the area!

Other reviewers have mentioned the owner is hostile, arrogant or confrontational or such. Not exactly. Usually he's ok to deal with and has a sense of humor although can be moody. However I walked in today and the poor guy was so stressed out and raging over whatever, it was impossible for me to order, I had to walk out of there. i may or may not return. Be thankful you're not running some boiling hot tiny Asian kitchen for years and years on end by yourself, seems that's what this poor guy has to deal with. His stir fry to go is cheap and delicious.
