The ranch is $1.50 but it's worth it... Tastes totally homemade and is delicious :))))Cute vibes at the location too

LA is going through a pizza renaissance and Hot Tongue is one the places responsible I've been there a couple of times and honestly it's been amazing every time. The last time I went was for game 6 of the World Series and they gifted us some pizza for the win. I ordered a slice of the vodka, Rita and the primo. The vodka which is topped with garlic olive oil, romano, mozzarella, vodka sauce, basil, fresh mozzarella, parmesan reggiano, chives was very well balanced, thin and flavorful. The Rita (Margherita) which consist of garlic, pizza sauce, fresh mozzarella, romano, basilshredded parmesan was similar to the vodka just not spicy. And finally the primo comes with pizza sauce, mozzarella, italian sausage, roasted red peppers, white onion, shredded parmesan, and chives. It definitely reminds me of Costcos supreme pizza. All of their pizzas have a wonderful slight char. The only reason they're getting 4 stars is because the owner, Alex is very rude. But his staff is actually very nice. There's ample room for dining and the wait is never long. It's an amazing experience if Alex isn't there.

The boxes look pretty. The boxes look great. But please consider the IQ of the third party delivery drivers. I guess having the logo both on the top and bottom of the box is too confusing. My pizzas were delivered upside down. For the thin crust the cheese was stuck to the lid and unfortunately the pizzas tasted like cardboard.Maybe you can go back to the previous design? But I still don't understand how this happened. Was the delivery driver handed the boxes flipped? Or did he manually flip each box over during the drive? Because typically you just pick up the stack of two pizzas boxes and go? Doesn't make sense because the smaller box is on top...The picture included is what the delivery driver took as proof of delivery. My IQ isn't that high either; even I had to do a double take to realize the pizzas were upside down due to the box design. (click see all photos to find it, Yelp keeps changing it's UX, it's showing the oldest photos first now)

I decided to check out an exhibit by a famous music photographer, Jay Blacksberg at the Grammy Museum in downtown LA. Afterward, I thought I would explore a different place to get a gluten-free pizza since I have to maintain my self-proclaimed title as world expert in gluten-free pizza due to my diagnosis 25 years ago with celiac. I saw good things from Yelpers for this unusually named Hot Tongue Pizza Joint and since I've enjoyed the Best F*ckn Pizza near where I live so now I've got to go out to Silverlake. Traffic for some reason was unbelievably horrible and I thought about turning around, but I was intrigued to try this joint. It's in a small strip joint with a nice seating area and long counter. They have a nice selection of sodas so I choose one a Cherry Vanilla Pop and ordered a gluten free pizza which is rectangular, with Italian sausage and carmelized onions. This style is a type of Detroit pizza which I prefer to Chicago Deep Dish. The portion size was huge and came to my table with a spatula and the knowledge that this was going to be 4 meals for me. The crust was light and crunchy on the edges with a really nice tomato sauce and cheese. The toppings were tasty and I had to throw in the towel and scream No Mas after two of these squares (I know it's a slice but I can't really call these cubes of pizza "slices"). I was fortunate that Roberto Duran was not dining at the Hot Tongue at that moment. They provided me with a gargantuan box to take 6 squares home which I ate a square every 6 hours, better than any medicine for whatever ails ya that I've ever eaten before. Friendly service by the two people holding down the Fort. Well played Hot Tongue.

The best crust! As an ex- New Yorker I can vouch for this pizza. All the ingredients are top quality and always consistently tasty. I haven't sampled the entire menu bc I keep ordering the same items bc they're so good. Try the knots! Definitely get the ranch! Also, if you order from them directly and sign up for emails/texts they send you discount codes regularly. They're awesome.

I've been dying to try this spot and finally had a "cheat day" today and gave it a go. Ordering was a little challenging. I wanted "vodka sauce" on a square pizza, but the only way to do that through a delivery app is by ordering the "Spicy Square" and then having items removed (like hot honey). The pizza itself was pretty good, though I've had better square & Detroit style pizza in LA before. This was quite light on the pizza sauce and cheese, but heavy on the pepperoni. The bread was soft and doughy, though the edges had some pull to it. I chose a non-vegan and non-gluten free pizza. All in all, I'd give this pizza a solid 4/5 stars. One thing to note about this spot, getting into the parking lot can be challenging depending on what direction you're coming from on Rowena. I'd definitely avoid high traffic times for pick-up as this could be rough.

Stopped by for the Monday special - crispy bar pie. Added jalapeños to it and it was really yummy! Sauce is onion and garlic free so worked for my dietary restrictions! They have a parking lot so easy to dine in or pick up.

This is my favorite pizza place on the Eastside. I love both their vegan and non-vegan pizzas as well as their pasta entrees! The crust is thin & crispy. They also have great lunch specials as well! I highly recommend!
