"Thou shall not gatekeep." - The Good Book (of Yelp)If you've ever been driving around the west side, craving some good Chinese food but don't know where to go - look no further! Hop Woo offers a wide spread of authentic Chinese dishes at very affordable prices. From soups, to veggie dishes, and of course - meat dishes (lamb, pork, beef, chicken) - they've got you covered!Their ambiance got a nice upgrade over the past few years, with their bathroom game receiving a nice lift. Service is consistent (don't knock them because of the decor and grade - iykyk), and very fast turnaround on dishes - even when they're crazy busy.If you haven't eaten here yet, get on it before this hidden becomes a hot spot!

This review is for take-out order only. The reason for one star because we did not receive food for over 2 hours and less half of the food was delivered. We ordered food via Yelp app to celebrate the last day of the Dragon year wih friends. Food was delivered via Ubereats. It took 2 hours for food to be ready. The poor Uber driver lady waited for 2 hours at the restaurant. We ordered- Egg rolls, $6.95: did not receive- Dumplings, 6 pieces for $7.95: plain- Pot stickers, 6 pieces for $7.95: meh- Gai lan woth oyster sauces $17.95, meh- Silky chicken corn soup, $11.95: did not receive- Steamed rice, $4: did not receive - Chicken pan fried noodle, $15.95: very sad looking noodles, not crispy. The chicken and broth are plain and very sad looking- sweet and sour shrimp, $19.95: did not receive.- whole fish, $29.95: did not receive it.We were so disappointed and very embarrassed with our house guests! When we tried to call the restaurant, they hung up several times and then did not pick up after a few calls... may be we just got punked!I would not recommend this place!

I'm so happy I decided to come to this place. I was in Santa Monica and it was only 4 miles from where I was.Their food is excellent and they have a lunch menu served seven days a week at 12:95 a dish My mistake is I came around Chinese? new year and it was a packed spot But I don't regret it. It's so delicious and reasonably priced.

Good quality. Some of it is a bit too salty. Some dishes have too much garlic. I have not dinned in, only take out.

The was my first time trying Hop Woo and I wasn't disappointed. I ordered the Vegetable Lo Mein Spicy. The portion was Huge! The spice level was perfect. It's Definitely enough for two meals. I would definitely order here again and try some of their other dishes.

I've been looking for good, authentic Chinese food in LA & this place is legit! Egg rolls, dumplings, Lo Mein, & Beef & broccoli are delicious. Reasonably priced too.

Ordered the Peking Duck- overpriced, tough, gelatinous, and barely any actually edible meat. Mostly soggy skin, bones, fat, and cartilage. Also ordered the imperial pan fried noodles- needed more vegetables, and flavor. Nah.

After a long day of watching the Chinese new year parade, Cassie F. and were starving so we hippity hoppity hopped to Hop Woo. A stampede of parade goers came in shortly after we put our name on the list. While we were waiting, a pair of Chinese dragons came and do their little dance and eating the lettuce which was super entertaining! We were lucky to catch it before our lunch. The wait was about 30 mins which was fair considering it being extremely busy. It was a little hard to place our order since they were very short staffed. We ended up ordering the chicken chow mien (w/Shanghai noodles) and chicken with mushroom with rice. The chicken chow mien was the one of the best noodles I had in my life! The chicken with mushroom with rice on the other hand came out as shrimp with mushroom with rice. They got my order wrong. I didn't want to wait another 30 minutes just to get my dish so I settled for the shrimp and mushroom which exceeded my expectations! This place is considered authentic for Chinese food. A solid choice if you are ever in Chinatown!

This restaurant has many delicious dishes, but when I try new things I am often horrified. For example, the "Chinatown Style Chow Mein" was nothing but plain noodles! But today's new dish "Fried diced chicken in garlic and chili" was simply insane. More than half the dish was those hard inedible Szechuan peppers!Just look at my pictures, and you'll see why I wish I had never ordered this "featured dish"!
