Popped in here for a drink while we were waiting for our table. They have great patio seating! The staff is super nice and attentive. Oddly all alcohol is Japanese so no standard vodka etc They also ran out of beer on tap. We decided on a sake. It was called Night Swim and it was surprisingly great. We'd go back for ambiance and service. Also the place is dog friendly.

We came here for brunch for the first time and we were blown away! The food is amazing!I'm not a big Waffle person but I'd eat those again any day of the week! chilaquiles is unreal, my favorite chilaquiles I've ever had. steak & eggs was seasoned and cooked perfectly, the bread on the side is done just right. We had such a good time after walking around the neighborhood we came back for few drinks and the ambiance was completely different but in a good way! They've done a beautiful job with decoration. Drinks were great, birria tacos are perfect happy hour snack. Margaritas are great!Last but not least, service is great! Everyone is super helpful and friendly. Can't wait to come back for dinner

This is one of my favorite restaurants and I hate to leave this review but it's well deserved. My girlfriend's and I come here all the time, it's a girls night staple. We arrive and we are told immediately that all of our favorite items are unavailable due to a big party ordering the max of those specific items. Our waiter supplemented with free shots of tequila but that didn't change the fact that we went there for specific items. Our reservation was at 8:30pm and we were told that last call for food and drinks was 9:30. Hermanito closes at midnight so we thought it was a bit odd. We then asked, why is the restaurant closing 2 hours early and there was no real answer. The server started stuttering and started saying random things that didn't make sense. It came off as if the staff just wanted to leave. As showed, we spent over $200 and the overall experienced sucked. The fact that we had to rush and eat our food because the staff wanted to go home is ridiculous. When I called and asked what time they closed, they said midnight. To turn on the lights and tell us they are closed is by far the worst experience we've had in a very long time.

The octopus salad is listed as an appetizer, but it's a good size as a healthy entree if you got a shared appetizer. The only food we got that wasn't that great were the tortilla chips that came with the ceviche. They were stale in some parts, but I didn't bother to ask for new ones to see if it was a bad batch or just how it is. I would go back though and want to try happy hour. Service was quick, but I did go on a Tuesday afternoon around noon. The server checked on us several times and cleared our used plates timely. We sat outside on the patio under the heater so it was really comfortable and it was already great weather.

We stopped by on a Friday afternoon for Happy Hour - which they do throughout the entire restaurant from 3pm - 6pm daily. We sat on the patio which was cute and well heated. We ordered a margarita and beer to start, the margarita was very fresh. The best deal on the HH is their Nachos - they are topped with delicious pickled veggies, salads, guacamole, and more. These were the highlight. We also got the fish and barria tacos to share - they came with 2 good size tacos and both were very fresh and yummy. Overall, the service and price point for happy hour are a steal - can't wait to come back.

What you need to know, before all else, is HAPPY HOUR. Hermanito is your classic upscale Mexican restaurant. The tacos are dressed up with flowers, the margaritas aren't made from a premade mix and hit just a little harder, and the ambience is cute enough that you get dressed up to eat there. But what would make me choose hermanito over a few other very similar Mexican restaurants on the West side is their fantastic happy hour situation. What might originally seem like slightly overpriced suddenly is a steal with both tacos and margs being around $10 each. I got a house margarita (fantastic, and salty just how I like em) and the carnitas tacos (good flavor, not the most mind blowing tacos I've ever had but very solid). I was able to sit and have a cute catch up with a friend, and the staff took amazing care of us. I will be returning at the hour of happy very soon.

We were on our way to the west side and needed to eat dinner quickly so my friend instantly thought of this cute little restaurant in Sawtelle. It's labeled as Mexican-Japanese fusion so it immediately caught my attention. We came in on a Friday and it was packed but we managed to snatch some seats at the bar. The menu is diverse and offers a range of dishes that cater to various tastes for meat lovers, seafood lovers or vegetarians. Loved the cocktails here, I chose the midori inspired cocktail. We definitely over ordered, especially on the appetizers. We got the queso fundido (this was amazing), guac and chips as well as the hamachi crudo. For our mains we got tacos but I was eyeing the karage buns. The achiote chicken taco was my favorite and the birria tacos were also pretty solid, but definitely felt heavy on the cheese. Service was quick despite how busy it was, overall I'd highly recommend this restaurant!

Still consistently one of my favorite local restaurants/bars. Their indoor/outdoor aesthetic is awesome. I love the fusion menu items (although I get truly sad when they remove something fantastic from the menu!). I'm forever a fan of their Margaritas! Service is usuallyyy great. Every once in a while, they have an off day, like most of us. They have revamped the back seating, and it's STUNNING out there! Great place to host groups or just a cute little date night. Street parking can be tough here, but there are parking garages about a block away on either side. One above ground and one underground in the Sawtelle center where Nijiya is. They are dog-friendly and have a little doggy door in front. It's adorable! It's worth a visit if you haven't been here, and it's worth coming back to see the changes if you haven't been back in a while My one qualm since I've been going for years is reducing the amount of items in an order and either keeping the same price or increasing it. Like previously, the taco orders came with 3, and now they're 2, but about the same price. The flautas used to come with 3 and now 2 and still the same price.

Oof. The food is not good. The drinks are mediocre at best. Absolutely is coasting on vibes alone and being the only Mexican restaurant in the area.
