Loved the vibe of this place. Came on a Friday night with a reservation, but it was so chill inside we could've been walk-ins. Service was good and everything was fresh to order. Live music near the bar area, but could still hear my own conversation which was a wonderful balance. Food was delicious. The salad was big enough for 4 people. Would definitely come back.

Facilities: AThis place is In the heart of the arts district in downtown LA, but the my have a cute outdoor seating patio in front with heaters and I side is a modern warehouse motif with the kitchen grille in the middle. Dishes and bathrooms were clean!Parking: BThey have valet for $20, but when we left we saw a lot on the corner for $4 self-parking. Service: AWe had reservations and were seated right on time. Our server was great. They even had a singer that had a great voice and added a romantic upscale vibe to dinner.Food: C- : Spicy Rigatoni alla Vodka Pasta. I got this as my "safe dish" but it wasn't safe at all. I originally wanted the Branzino but decided to play it safe. The pasta was dry, undercooked and a bit cold so I requested more sauce. The sauce was flavorless but at least it was hot. Also, the chicken in the dish was not seasoned and was bland and a tad bit dry. I wish they would have grilled chicken thigh for an added smoky flavor instead of that dry breast.A: New York Steak. This was simple but good. The Parmesan potatoes tasted way better than they looked.B: Not on the menu: (Fettunta?) grilled sourdough bread + salt and olive oil B: Honey cake: it was "ok". It was sweet and may have needed a bit of salt to expand the flavor. The Ice cream was good.Overall I would go back again I just wouldn't get the pasta.

Had this place in mind for a while to try ever since I read a an article with Michele Brogi name attached to it. Ambiance is cool, located in old warehouse and kept most of the aesthetic of it. Love the interior design and the concept of the place. We had reservations and we were sifted right away. Service was quick and server checked on us multiple time to get our order in. We had: Tramonto (Cocktail): if you like whiskey based drink, give it a try.Carpaccio Branzino: Excellent flavors, perfectly sliced, and made very well. Sauce paired very well with Branzino. I recommend this place. Pesto Fresco: Pesto sauce was simply fabulous. Right amount of sauce and the pasta was el dente. They topped this dish with burrata and that added a lot of flavors. Highly recommend this dish as well. For main course we had:Risotto Con Capersante: Jumbo scallops over saffron risotto - simply wow. We really loved this dish. Scallops were made to perfection, juicy and were not over-seasoned. Absolutely enjoyed the freshness in them. Costolette di agnello affumicato con risotto al Tartufo: Once again this dish was delicious. Lamb chops were cooked medium-rare, smoked, and served over risotto. Being big fan of lamb, this dish was beautifully cooked to its fullness. I would come back to try this dish again. Over all, I liked the place and would come back to try different things as well.

I highly recommend it and I will definitely come back again.

Great live music, great service, food could be better. Parking- plenty of street parking, valet, and lots nearby. Reservation- easy to make. On their website.Drinks- I ordered a cocktail forbidden flower. It was good. Food- my friend and I split the ribeye and Cacio a Pepe. Presentation was really nice and picture worthy but I felt like my steak was overcooked and the caccio a Pepe was really watery and the cheese didn't mix well. I feel like I might have to try this place again and order different items. Service was fantastic. Very attentive.

Was feeling like some Italian cuisine so we came out here the other night to try something new. Ambiance is nice, with a cute outside pro with fire pits, while the inside feels warm with a little mystique in the atmosphere. Inside, you're able to see the kitchen working on the dishes, which is also fun. We started with the cocktails, beef tartare and the octopus. The tartare was good but definitely not memorable. The octopus was cooked perfectly, seasoned well, meaty bites in a bed of cooked kale and orange slices. Very nice appetizer. As for the drinks, they were all very good, nice and flavorful. Can definitely recommend the Illegal Blow and the Pear MartiniFor entrees, we each tried something different. I ordered the baked rigatoni bolognese, which, and this is going to be a theme, the pasta itself felt under seasoned, but with the baked cheese in top, was very nice. The Ravioli Alla Gemberi tasted like the ocean, with the prawns and the little pops of red caviar. The bearnaise sauce and marscapone tried to cut through that saltiness but it was still pretty prominent. Still a nice dish. The Spicy rigatoni alla vodka felt really one note here, and the pasta itself felt under seasoned. Finally was the Pappardelle tartufo with wagyu beef. Presentation was nice, and the wagyu beef was great, but the pasta just felt under seasoned and the rush felt like it was missing something. Overall, some dishes were a hit, some were not. With so many Italian restaurants in Los Angeles, there are other places which might be a little more successful in terms of their pasta, but Hearts & Flame is not bad. Maybe it was an off night for seasoning the pasta. If you're in the area, you can give it a try. Definitely grab a cocktail and get the octopus, you won't be disappointed with them

Service was good but the food was overpriced. Not sure if this is normal but it was my first time having gritty/sandy scallops. They said it's normal when it's high quality but I've never had scallops like that. Take it as you wish. The other dishes were tasty and seasoned well but not worth the price. We went on a Saturday night and there were only 3 other parties. The live music was nice.
