Cute small plate Yakitori on the lower level of the shopping center. The restaurant is surprisingly spacious. That being said, unless you are traveling solo like I was, I would probably recommend a reservation. They were able to seat me at the bar where I got a great view of the kitchen prep as well as the bartender in action. I skipped drinks this trip and decided to treat myself to their tasting menu. You won't get everything on the menu, but you'll get the best they have to offer and all the fan favorites. Tie for my favorite goes to the Pork Belly & Black Chicken.I left full and considered stopping back for a second meal later on in my trip. Needless to say, I'd recommend and will try to fit in on any future trips to LA.

We had a great birthday dinner and tried most of the menu for our party of 7. Great service and hospitality. Our favorites were the bone marrow, chicken meatballs, chicken skewers, pork belly, lamb skewers, corn tower, waygu, and ink squid karage. We order all the top dishes per yelpers. The hamachi, avocado tuna, black rice, ribs, and other rice were good but not great. The desserts were good. The variety of many drinks were mostly great. Definitely check out the shot and beer combo in back of the tasting menu. Love the food and experience. They were very accommodating regarding the orders that were missing. We were also honest with the 3-4 dishes that was already eaten at our table that came around the second time. Love the chill vibe and great service! Highly recommend this place for the overall experience.

Hatch was my second victim of Dine LA -- I went with a friend for lunch ($25 for 6 "courses") on a Wednesday after making a reservation on OpenTable. We took the Metro to 7th St / Metro Center, which spits you out right below the restaurant. The tuna tataki handroll was a little awkwardly sized so you had to eat carefully and quickly or else items would fall out. The tuna sear was a little bit tough on the outside but otherwise the roll's flavors were well balanced, with a hint of vinegar in the rice and the savoriness of the fish. Seaweed salad wasn't fishy at all and had a sweetness that worked with the light umami flavor. Squid ink karaage was crispy but it was just like normal karaage. It was juicy and the aioli had a smooth contrast.Chicken meatball skewer paired well with the egg dip but I wish it was a bit sweeter. I am usually not a fan of either bacon or shishito peppers but the bacon shishito worked really well together and was probably the most flavorful dish. It wasn't too greasy and the smoked flavor of the bacon shone through while the punchiness of the shishito peppers were vibrant in comparison. Hatch greens were refreshing, but I wasn't super sold on the napa cabbage since it made it a bit watery.Service was incredibly fast. My friend and I were in and out of there in an hour (plenty of time to spare before class ). Great value overall -- it was fun to try a bunch of plates without breaking the bank or overeating.

Mostly 4/5 for the skewers- chicken thigh, chicken meatball, lamb lollipop, unagi, and wagyu were our favorites. Tuna was a bit underseasoned. Oysters were fresh and had pretty good flavor. Corn tempura tower was a bit too oily but had pretty tasty sauces- could use more sauce on the plate to counteract the fried bits. 2/5 for the dessert. Pretty boring baked apple with vanilla ice cream, and the cookie was too crispy and not that flavorful.

Solid izakaya with good options for happy hour and drinks. Was pretty empty on a weekday. Perfect location for getting a quick dinner before the Laker game. Food: Skewers- can't really go wrong here... We tried the chicken breast, wing, and meatball. All were good. The pork riblet was good as well. Kinda reminds me of the mcrib at McDonalds a lil bit minus the sauce and the firmness/quality of the pork. Only one id skip would be the corn. It was just ok for me.The squid ink karaage was good but I dunno if I'd get it again. Loved the black soft shell crab taco tho. Oysters were also really good. For drinks I really liked the seven samurai. The shiitake happens was interesting but not my cup of tea. Overall, had an enjoyable experience. Would come back if I was in the area to try new menu items.

Ahhh Hatch, what can I say...you had me at "hatch ya later" (who doesn't love a good pun?!). Ok, maybe my husband because I kept laughing at the menu and after the third one, he started rolling his eyes. Whatever.Very cozy restaurant inside the BLOC in Downtown LA. They have validated parking ($44 without validation so make sure to get validated for $40 off). Can I just add that I hate driving up the parking ramp!? 5 minutes of just driving in circles is not a good way to start a meal.Celebrated our friends birthday here the other night...easy to make reservations through Open Table. Love the ambience of this place (huge bar to the left and tables - big and small - to the right). Easily fit a group of 5 or more. Small plates but easy to share if you get a few items. They had a dinner DINE LA menu for $55 for about 6 items. For a party of 5, we ordered 3 "DINE LAs" and some items on the side and dessert. We also had about 2 drinks each and the total came out to a little over $500 (after tax, tip and 3% kitchen fee). We were definitely full and probably could've done without a few items. Food was good, drinks were good (although it took a while to get our drinks), service was good...we all had an eggcellent time...would definitely return and recommend. (My pictures are a bit blurry but it was low light and my old eyes thought they looked clear when I took them).DRINKS- Strawberry Julius: it was garnished with a strawberry pocky and that's pretty much what it tasted like...a strawberry flavored nigori. Wasn't my favorite.- Yuzu Sour: love yuzu so this one was nice. They put a cute little egg decoration on it.- Liquid Gold: Husband loved this one- Ghost Malone: I actually enjoyed this one a lot- it was very bright and refreshingFOOD- Royal Hamachi: This had a nice citrusy (yuzu) flavor. I enjoyed it but my husband thought it was OK.- Wagyu w/ Wasabi: The wagyu was cooked well but I wish the wasabi flavor came through more. Couldn't really taste it. I still enjoyed it.- Lamb Lollipop: The guys at our table said this one was pretty good. - Black fried rice: This was a dish we could've done without. There is a lot happening but it lacked flavor.- Grilled Fuji Apple: Was literally that. A grilled apple a-la-mode. - Binchotan Brownie: This was our favorite. The brownie was delicious and the ice creams complemented the brownies well.- Lunar New Year dessert (forgot what it was called): A few of us liked it but me personally, I did not enjoy it. It was something with mochi rice cake. DINE LA MENU ITEMS- Tsukemono and Avo Tuna Toast: the Tsukemono was delicious! The avo tuna toast was OK. - White Prawns: One of the favorites of the table...(although in my opinion, it was super spicy). It was grilled prawns with a gochujang (Korean red chili paste) type of taste.- Corn a la elote: Love corn. Love elote~- Beef Tongue a la lengua and Chicken sausage: I thought the chicken sausage was OK but the beef tongue melted in your mouth- Squid Ink Karaage: OK, this one surprised me. Because of the color of the squid ink, my brain was tricked into thinking this would be dry but the chicken was very moist and the black garlic ranch went perfectly with it. I enjoyed this one~- Yaki Onigiri: This one was simple but delicious.

Great little spot with delicious small plates but does come with a price especially if you come with an appetite. We came on a Saturday night with reservations for a group of 8 and was seated right away! Bone marrow was absolutely delicious and a must. Waygu, beef tongue, and lamb lollipop skewer delicious. All the meats were cooked perfectly. The hamachi and mushroom skewer were good but nothing special compared to the other great dishes we had. I would pass on the corn tempura tower. A bit flavorless and so many better things in the menu.Over all I would definitely come back here again.
