We initially were looking to do brunch at the nearby Liu's Cafe, but ended up giving up due to the line. Luckily, HanEuem was nearby and no wait even on a weekend afternoon.PARKINGValet only. Bonus points for being by the Metro.WHAT WE ORDEREDPork Belly Kimchi PancakeSpicy Rice Cake Stew with Fish Cake and VeggiesKimchi fried rice with cheeseSpicy Marinated Fresh Raw CrabsTHE FOODThe pancake was amazingly crispy yet tender inside and perfectly satisfied our craving for something fried. The kimchi fried rice was also well-seasoned and the cheese added a nice touch, though I think more cheese wouldn't have hurt. The spicy rice cake stew was a pretty large serving and had a good amount of each of the ingredients. The star of the show for us was the crab, of course. There was definitely the right level of spice, though I wish it came with the roe part. They also provided gloves for the crab. For a group of four, what we ordered was more than enough food.SERVICEPretty good and attentive.VIBEClean and sleek looking place, and enough seating for a catchup with friends or a meal with family.BOTTOM LINEWould definitely come back here if I'm ever in the area again.

I live within walking distance of HanEuem and have been in for lunch a couple of times. I really loved it my first visit and was less impressed when I went back, but it's a decent homestyle Korean restaurant with a large menu. Always a good thing to have in my back pocket.HanEuem is one of Chef Kang's restaurants, of which there are several around Koreatown. Who is Chef Kang? I don't really know, but he puts his name everywhere, and I think he does well among non-Koreans, with a bit of a second-gen vibe to the branding. HanEuem has a detailed menu explaining each dish in English, and it includes a curated soju list. It's still a Korean restaurant in a KTown strip mall--a particularly big one at 6th and Western--next to what used to be Mr. Coffee. Valet parking even at lunchtime, the kind that might sign off while you eat and come into the restaurant to return your key and collect payment (helpfully, you can pay on VenMo now). The space is like 10% cuter than the average Korean joint, casual and put together, if not especially high on atmosphere. Service is pretty inattentive. HanEuem would be better with the standard Koreatown service button. The food is solid. Every meal includes purple rice and a nice spread of banchan: odaeng, japchae, namul, kimchi, maybe some fried anchovies. If you like Korean pancakes, there are several options available, all of which are probably good to share. I've tried the nokdu bindaettuk, made with ground mung beans and chopped pork and served with soy dipping sauce. Not a game changer, but a good enough version of a very popular Korean street food.HanEuem isn't a seafood specialist, but you can get saewoojang and ganjang gaejang here, and I find both of those hard to resist. The saewoojang is messy but great: bouncy, flavorful, soy sauce-fermented raw shrimp. The gaejang is a B+. I love ganjang gaejang, a dish of goey, gelatinous soy sauce-marinated raw crab. HanEuem's isn't bad, and it came with a bowl of toppings for a build-your-own bibimbap. Seaweed, pickles, fish eggs, sesame seeds, sesame oil, all ready to dump into a crab shell and mix with rice (not that we were given any instructions). I've had better gaejang, though, and it's just not the thing to get here.I like this place for the big, hearty dishes, satisfying and made to share. The spicy galbijjim is a winner, braised beef short ribs in a spicy marinade, topped with mozzarella cheese. It comes on its own little burner and the cheese gets melted with a hit from a blowtorch. The beef is spicy and addictive, as are the hunks of potato, which really take well to that marinade. I like the woogeoji galbitang too, a prime short rib and green cabbage soup. Is it better at, say, Sun Nong Dan? Sure. But HanEuem's is tasty, stewy and comforting. If you're here for lunch, I'd also recommend the kimchi cheese bokkeumbap, which is a lunch-only item. It's a delicious fried rice with kimchi and cheese, topped with a fried egg.I have a number of Koreatown favorites and HanEuem isn't one of them, but I'm still glad that it's around. It's close and easy with some strong homestyle cooking. I'm sure I'll keep going every now and then.

We stopped by for an early lunch and ordered the crab combo--gloves provided for the full experience! The spicy crab marinade was a standout--packed with flavor but not overwhelmingly spicy, just the right kick. While the kimchi pancake wasn't my favorite, I honestly didn't mind since I was already so full from indulging in the generous portions of crab and shrimp. A solid spot for seafood lovers!

This place was incredible. The servers were so nice and helpful and helped us order the perfect amount. The raw marinated crab and shrimp were my favorite but the wagyu ribs and kimchi pancake are a must orders as well. This spot was very busy with a lot of patrons but we were able to snag a reservation night of and only had to wait around 10 minutes before we could be seated.Highly recommend!

My mom & I came here for lunch~The inside is a little smaller than what I imagined it to be, judging from the outside.Service was fast & the one server working the lunch rush was so attentive to all the tables & quick on her feet! We didn't have to ask for a refill or even boxes when we were done! AmazingI did have to knock a star off tho because we ordered the oysters & they weren't fresh, they actually gone bad & the kitchen didn't catch it until after the dish was set on our table & we had a bite each... However they did comp us for another dish & quickly took that spoiled oyster off the table... Just not quick enough for us to not have touched it :(

Authentic Korean restaurant in ktwon! A lot of flavors. We ordered the LA Galbi ( soy & garlic sauce short ribs ), signature kimchi fried rice, and soy marinated raw crab. The signature kimchi fried rice texture is good with a lot of kimchi! For the LA Galbi, a lot of meats, and each bite is flavorful. Our favorite is the soy marinated raw crab, so juicy and mixed well with rice and fish roe. The banchan is also yummy! Service is friendly, this restaurant can get busy so you know the food is good.

Food: 5 starsService: 5 starsAmbiance: 4.5 starsI believed I've tried all of Chef Kang's restaurants, and this is one is my favorite. it'll be my go-to spot when I'm craving for Jib-Bap (homemade-style food) with a comforting soup. Every dish is perfectly balanced, without being overpowering. I've only been here twice for lunch, and both times it was busy. I recommend arriving before 12 pm to avoid the lines that form afterward. Despite the busy hour, the service was better than expected.

This place is really busy. We had to wait a while to get seated. There were only 2 servers working on Christmas. We got:1) 3/5 grilled mackerel ($24): I thought it was really bland until I put lemon, but my family really enjoyed it even w/o lemon2) 4/5 spicy squid with rice ($21): This was really good, but too spicy for me. Comes with veggies. 3) 4/5 cockle bibimbap ($19): This was my fave dish. We didn't like the perilla leaf, but it was perfect otherwise. 4) 2/5 haemul pajeon ($29): Pajeon is always bland w/o sauce. Unfortunately, almost all Korean restaurants serve soy sauce with pajeon. The soy sauce makes it too salty, so you're stuck with either bland or OD salty pajeon. Wish the batter had seasoning.

Craving jeon on a rainy Sunday, came back for the assorted jeon. It was superb! We stopped by at 2 pm and they let us know they close at 3 pm. We got our food quickly and everything was so delicious. We also ordered pork belly kimchi stew and beef deonjang which were both good and tasted homey. My husband asked why we didn't come back since the last visit and said this place will need to be put in our regular restaurant rotation...that's how good the food is here. Anyway, recommend this place for their homey Korean meals.

There are not enough ways to say how much I love this restaurant! I've had multiple dishes on their menu and have loved them all. The first one I get is the octopus that's on a hot pan with rice! It's amazing! And I don't even like seafood in general, but when it's good I appreciate it even more. My go to dish is their kimchi pork belly soup, it is the standard! All the food here tastes home cooked. I've never been disappointed. The service is second to none. I'm always taken care of. The service of quick and friendly. They're usually busy but always find the time to make you feel welcomed. The ambiance is great! The location itself is in a busy shopping center with valet. Earlier in the day you can self park. Definitely add this to the list of places to eat at. You'll likely find me there... what are you waiting for... go!
