Ordered online for pick up. Service was fast and easy although getting through Korea town is never easy....Since it's in the galleria, there's a parking structure! I ordered the Grandma Tteokbokki 할머니떡뽂이 (2 쌀떢) spice level 2 and the Gimmari. The tteokbokki came with a hard boiled egg, lots of fish cakes, onion, carrots and of course the rice cake. Maybe I'm weak but the level 2 spicy level was pretty spicy. The gimmari was delicious on its own but even better dipped in the tteokbokki sauce. I would say the portion is definitely more than enough for one person but I did drink a lot of water since it was spicer than I thought it would be haha Will definitely come back and try the mild lol

This place is located on the third floor food court of Galleria on Western/Olympic. Depending how busy the food court gets, it can get loud here with the echos. Love the cylindrical rice cakes in spicy sauce. Don't forget to order side of soondae and dip with the tteokbokki.

I've been wanting to try Halgatteok on 8th St. and never got around to it (not sure if the management of the two locations are affiliated with each other), so when I saw that a new location opened up in the Koreatown Galleria food court (which has free parking in the structure), I finally made the trip. Located on the third floor in the corner closest to the restrooms, it wasn't hard to find. We ordered the grandma tteokbokki with garae tteok level 1 spice, the rose tteokbokki with mil tteok level 1 spice, and sweet potato tempura (3 pieces) and fried seaweed rolls (5 pieces) to help with the spice. You get a buzzer and can sit anywhere in the food court area, which wasn't too crowded when we went for Saturday lunch. Food was ready promptly, and there is a water dispenser on the side, which was much needed. I enjoyed the garae tteokbokki, which was very chewy. Even level 1 spice was still pretty spicy for someone who can't handle too much spice. The rose tteokbokki was less spicy compared to the grandma tteokbokki and was standard compared to tteokbokki from other spots. Overall, the thick garae tteok is worth a try and differentiates itself from other places that sell tteokbokki. It is a bit on the pricier side for street food, but location is very convenient!

(Wrote my review on the wrong Halgatteok earlier!) Been here few times now and it's pretty consistent as expected from such a popular Korean chain! Famous for their super long rice cakes. Pretty tasty stuff! My friend and I go to the location at the galleria but there is a more formal store front in ktown as well. Hits the spot if you want some rice cakes. We like to add sausage to the grandma's set

On the 3rd floor at the food court of the Galleria Plaza, this new joint (and second location with free parking,) is such a wonderful find. $15 doesn't get you a lot these days, but it gave me a meal and a half (for tomorrow,) and sauce that filled my soul! I got the rose tteokboki with the garae tteok (super thick rice cake! I would recommend it if youve had regular rice cakes before and want to try something that's THICC.) at level 2 spicy! My boyfriend got the same thing and added noodles! It wasn't too spicy and it was absolutely full of flavor that was so deep and satisfying! We also ordered the vegetable tempura, and it reminded me of a Korean pancake! It was also generous in portion and we split it between 4 other people haha Just go, sit down, and take in a part of the city that feels more mellow and enjoy a good meal with yourself or those you love. It's that type of vibe

Good, portion was big. Don't like the cheesy toek but really like the rice roll and the fish cake soup. Service was nice. Casual ambiance.

Even though this restaurant is at the Galleria food court, it is my go-to 떡볶이 (tteokboki) spot right now. The grandma and rose sauces and the rice cakes they use are all delicious! The sauces are on the lighter side of sweetness compared to the average tteokboki in LA. I've tried every type of 떡 (rice cake) they offer and like all of them! You can also add items into your tteokboki like veggies, sausage, ramen noodles, and cheese. Fair warning though, the medium spice is actually pretty spicy even for me (I don't consider sriracha spicy, and I eat habanero hot sauce frequently!) The squid tempura is somehow always fried to perfection. The sweet potato tempura was the only letdown. It wasn't cooked long enough. The soondae is decent though! I only wish they offered Korean fried chicken so I could have all the yummy snacks in one spot. Lol.
