Gotta Have it Grill

Overall 4/5. Loved that everything was fresh and made to order. It did take 45 minutes but there were no other customers in when we arrived so I can appreciate food not just sitting. Ordered the fried salmon with mac and cheese and yams, the fried shrimp with collard greens and yams, and a side of fried zucchini. And both entrees came with cornbread. Loved that nothing was greasy!Of everything we ordered, the best/most flavorful things were the yams and macaroni. The shrimp and salmon were barely overcooked, collard greens tasted like Glory greens, and cornbread like Krusteaz. None of it was terrible, but it needed more flavor.

Food 4 /10 Service 8/10 Ambiance 8/10 Food was okay. The chicken was kind of hard to chew & a little dry. Mac and cheese and collard greens we weren't really fans of. Collard greens had a strong after taste and Mac and cheese didn't really have any flavor. I ordered the fried catfish and it had a fishier taste than I've had before. We enjoyed the kool aid thoe! In total we probably spent $70-$80 for a catfish plate, a fried chicken plate, and an order of chicken wings.

Service was nice, effortless and quick. We ordered the soul fries, salmon and shrimp and wings with fries and zucchini. The soul fries were okay. I didn't try them but my son said the chicken was chewy and the Mac and cheese flavoring didn't pair well with the fries.Fried salmon was okay. It is a soft fry and the shrimp were on the small/medium side and chewy.I enjoyed the barbeque beans and the Mac and cheese was fine. It isn't the best and it isn't the worse. I'd put it in the middle.The wings were just average. I can remember the flavors I got and they weren't popping. I could differentiate between the two. The fried zucchini was mushy but the fries were delicious. They forgot all the sauces for the salmon, fries, zucchini. If I return, (and that is negotiable) I will try something different. Then, again, maybe I won't return.

Definitely impressed by 'Gotta Have It', its hold true to its name. The marketing behind their restaurant is immaculate cause its all over my IG feed, and I was very happy to finally try it. The service was cool, They felt very personable and you can tell they are very focused on their food and almost nothing else. Thats fine by me! The food took a while to come out but that was also fine, just meant it was going to be hot. I order a side of fried zucchini with my Fried Salmon plate w/ Mac and Yams (my favorite combo). The mac was impressive and the young lady talk up the sweetness of the candied yams... eh, BUT they were also very impressive. My friend got the fried shrimp plate with greens and yams. She agreed that the yams were delicious but did NOT have any good things to say about the greens. I guess cause it wasn't any meat in them, lacked some flavor. They have a lot of different lemonade options which ii love and can get crowded. The salmon & shrimp were a little overcooked, but Id rather have that than cold food any day. I heard great things about their wings, so i cant wait to try that next !

The food is on 10 here!!! Delicious and cheesy Mac and cheese. The yams have the perfect amount of sweetness. Get that fried salmon. I really enjoyed it and add some chili oil to give it a kick and flavor. Their wings go crazy. I like the spicy honey but also enjoyed the garlic Parmesan. That strawberry banana pudding is next level. The baked beans and the collard greens are also tasty. You guys should check this place out. The staff is amazing. They have room to sit down and eat. Perfect place for family, date or takeout.

The food was not good at all I know soul food and this is not it The customer service horrible I was even greeted when i went inside and the neighborhood was sketchy

over the weekend I had the pleasure of visiting gotta have it grill and when I say not only was the food amazing the customer service was great. I am a chef myself and this food was perfectly prepared not overly seasoned or salty but seasoned to perfection with flavors through and through. I had the fried salmon and honey hot wings mac&cheese and greens we also had the fried shrimp and lemon hot wings. I can't wait to come back and try the spaghetti and catfish We drove all the way from Palm Springs to try this place out and it gets 10/10 from this Chef fyi: dine in and relax or call ahead ...because this is not fast food great food takes time thanks

The food was so delicious. The macaroni and cheese melts in your mouth. The greens were seasoned. The taste. The catfish is crunchy and seasoned and the sea in the season. Lemon pepper. Wings are off the hook. You gotta go. Try it. Gotta have it.

The sound of "Welcome" greets everyone entering "Gotta Have It". Good Soul Food can be found here, and we started with the wings. I would give GHI a five plus but they were out of the Memphis wing sauce so we went with the OG Hot Wings, BBQ Beans, and their Mac and Cheese, plus an authentic lemonade while I waited for my to-go order.The restaurant itself is spotless, and like I said everyone gets a welcome. Both my wife loved everything on our order, and we intend to try most everything on the menu."Gotta Have It" is the real deal in soul food, and the closest of its kind to much of the South Bay.

not everything needs the have a purple lettuce at the bottom of certain plates . i ordered a fried fish plate with collard greens .. my fish tasted like dirt due to a soggy purple lettuce at the bottom of my plate . it looked like they didn't rince the lettuce & they just put it at the bottom of my plate , the fish wasnt fried long enought either , it was still a SOFT . a bit OVER pricy as well for something very little .
