This was a gem that we found in Chinatown, LA. We got there around 5ish so they had barely opened and the place was empty which was not surprising. Service was quick and friendly. A very spacious setting and pretty clean overall. We got the mixed fried rice, spare ribs, and honey walnut shrimp. The portions were huge! The food was very flavorful and great quality. The honey walnut shrimp were not overly sauced or mayo heavy and had a good crunch. The spare ribs were the star, succulent meat, and I definitely sucked on those bones longer than I should have! Came with a side of green beans which was crispy and went perfectly with the ribs. The mixed fried rice was a mountainous portion and had everything in it, chicken, beef, more shrimp. We were just two and could not finish it all. I would definitely recommend this spot!

I called the restaurant over a week before placing my order asking what would be the best way to place an order for 12 people for Christmas. I believe I spoke to a Ken? but not sure and he told me just to call that day on Christmas and I made sure I clarified that with him realizing it would be Christmas Day.Called on Christmas around 11 o'clock when they opened and spoke to a woman who, unfortunately, with no disrespect, I could not understand her with her strong accent even though I tried and she would many times speak over me so I asked to speak to someone that would understand me better and I could understand them better. She was kind enough to have me talk to Ivey. Ivey was very nice and kind but I was shocked when this popular restaurant who has been around and should know how to guide someone with the amount of food for 12 people ( my first time ordering take out for that amount of people ) in regards to their portions. My experience was that they knew nothing. I ended up with an extremely over abundance of food that literally would've fed 30 people. I will admit the food was tasty and it does rate well with my family and friends, but the amount of food was just crazy and for 12 people spending $700!!!!! when my daughter who picked up the food came back with the receipt after paying with her own credit card as she knew I would just pay her back. Also, they did not prepare for how busy they were and my order was not ready for another hour! My daughter said that "they" were stressed out as they dealt with my order and did not even have one of the special items that I wanted. They told my daughter they ran out... Unbelievable. I also specifically asked for chopsticks and forks for 12 people and got nothing. I can't help but feel I was taken advantage of.... Never again... I am also very surprised how disorganized and not prepared they were for a major holiday once a year as most restaurants are not even open that day!!I hope this review Golden Tree takes to heart and has someone on staff that knows exactly what their portions are and guides and tells the truth about how many people that amount usually will feed. I am out so much money that I can't afford. I never thought it would cost me that much for Chinese food for twelve people!!!! Very disappointing experience, as I have never eaten at this restaurant before and strictly went on their reviews. However, I'm the type of person that looks for the silver lining where I was able to feed those that didn't have anything.... God works in mysterious ways... I will accept and believe that and feel good about it.. But I hope through this experience each of us can learn from it and the restaurant can move forward regarding takeout for an over the average amount of people with improving their communication, organization and preparedness for a major holiday.

It's Christmas Day, and accordingly, I was craving East Coast-style Chinese food (i.e., maybe not 100% authentic, but super comforting and what I grew up with). Yang Chow and Broadway Cuisine had already closed their online ordering by mid-afternoon, but Golden Tree was still available. I hadn't tried them before, but their Yelp ratings were solid.Placed my order around 4 pm for a 5:30 pm pickup: wonton soup, slippery shrimp and white rice. I got there a few minutes before the pickup time. Christmas is the busiest day of the year for Chinese restaurants, and Golden Tree, which had just opened for dinner at 5, was already starting to fill up their small interior, and lots of folks had arrived for to-go orders. Mine wasn't quite ready (they were waiting on the shrimp), but to their credit, it was ready by about 5:32 pm. I should also note that despite the crush of orders and the invariable insanity of Christmas, the restaurant staff were very friendly. Perhaps it was chaos, but it felt like a controlled chaos.I returned home and plated. My wonton soup was tasty and satisfying, but the star was the slippery shrimp, which was not only flavorful but crispy on the outside and not overcooked inside. Yum. This meal hit the spot. I'd be happy to try this restaurant again anytime.

Solid Chinese restaurant with good service and friendly servers. We came a little over an hour before closing and got to enjoy our late dinner as we didn't feel rushed. Food came out quickly and tasted delicious, with one of the few times where we didn't need to add extra soy sauce or hot sauce. The flavors really were perfect. Definitely a place I'd recommend to anyone if they're by or in Chinatown.

Food was authentic and flavorful. The ambience is not the best as it was pretty empty. We were greeted with free hot tea which was nice. Waitress was friendly and made sure to explain any dish that was a bit more unique. But at one point, she confirmed my husbands order three times so a bit of overkill.

Was craving some Chinese food while in LA since it is harder to find where I live. This place delivered! We were 4 and ordered enough food for probably 8!Some of my favorites were the Honey Walnut Shrimp (must try), Orange Chicken, Chicken Lo Mein. We also got the Kung Pao Chicken, Fried Rice, Cripsy Garlic Eggplant, Crispy Shrimp Bok Choy Toast. All this for $100 with 3 sodas! The portions were huge so we obviously took about half home. The restaurant is very basic, hole in the wall style. Service was fine. We were starving and the food came out reasonably quickly. If you're just looking for good Chinese comfort food and not necessarily a nice night out, this is your place!

The food here is bomb! The parking lot right next to it is five bucks during the week. It may be more expensive on the weekend. I was hungry in the downtown area and I wasn't sure what I wanted to eat. Driving through Chinatown I got the urge for some fried rice and orange chicken. I yelped to see who had the most stars and there are a couple different restaurants that have 4 1/2 stars. This was one of them. I went in this restaurant. Customer service was great. The place was empty. I ordered my food. I got a Mongolian beef, fried rice with extra egg and an order of orange chicken way too much food for one person so I took the rest home. I have a wife and four kids kids so it won't go to waste. The food was excellent! By the time I was done eating and was leaving, the restaurant was almost full! Cheers!!

Tasty dishes, Large portions, Quick service. Decided to eat here before a Dodger game. Parked at union station, walked over. Dining room is plain. Lots of tables, tv on wall, pictures of popular dishes on wall. Friendly staff. Took leftovers to go and ate them at stadium. Black pepper beef was delicious and tender. Can't go wrong w orange chicken. Not heavily breaded!

Well lit. Clean. I didn't actually dine in on this visit, I ordered to go. But based off of what I saw, I wouldn't mind coming back to dine in. The employees were nice and accommodating. My food came out very quickly and hot. It was still hot by the time I got home. I ordered the lOrange chicken and Yang Chow Fried Rice. I really enjoyed the fact that the chicken & beef were diced up, instead of in big chunks. The orange chicken was saucy and crispy. Next time I will go up on the spice level.

Nestled in the heart of Chinatown, Golden Tree Restaurant is a hidden gem that offers a taste of authentic Cantonese cuisine. While the exterior might not be fancy, step inside and be transported to a bustling atmosphere filled with delicious aromas and friendly service. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. You can easily enjoy a satisfying meal without breaking the bank. On my last visit, I shared with a friend wonton soup, shrimp fried rice and mapo tofu. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The restaurant is small and can get quite crowded, especially on weekends so prepared for a wait. Parking in Chinatown can also be tricky.
